Go To

Typhoon is an indie rock band from Portland, Oregon. As of this writing, they have put out two albums (Hunger and Thirst and White Lighter), two E Ps (Dearborn Sessions and A New Kind of House) and two 7"s (Split, with another band, and Common Sentiments, a single for White Lighter).

  • Cult Classic: Potentially.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Lyrics often reference the childhood illness of lyricist Kyle Morton.

  • Epic Rocking: Many of their songs segue together.
  • Epic Instrumental Opener: Played with: "Prelude," the first song on White Lighter, is instrumental but just eighteen seconds long.
  • Genius Bonus: Some members of the "27 Club" are (apocryphally) said to have carried white Bic cigarette lighters, when they died; Kyle Morton was twenty-seven, when White Lighter was released.
  • Loads and Loads of Characters: They tour with twelve members, including the sound guy.
  • Lyrical Cold Open: "The Honest Truth," sort of.
  • Miniscule Rocking: "Mouth of the Cave" is just fourty-four seconds long. See, also, Epic Instrumental Opener.
  • Old Shame: Averted: you can buy music they made as teenagers.
  • The Alleged Car: Typhoon used Kickstarter to replace the one they had previously toured in.
