Thrawsunblat is a Canadian Folk Black Metal band, originally formed in 2009. After the unfortunate death of David Gold, the surviving members of Woods of Ypres joined the band. Their albums often feature a central story or themes that carry throughout the work.

This band provides examples of:

  • Break Them by Talking: Attempted by the Nihilist, the antagonist of their second album Wanderer on the Continent of Saplings to the titular Wanderer. Spoiler—click to reveal
  • Fire Purifies: Fire is used symbolically in Wanderer on the Continent of Saplings to represent human will and drive, and this fire going out or smoldering is seen as leading to moral decay and decline.
  • In Harmony with Nature: A lot of their music has shades of regret or anger at society that disrespects and ignores nature.
  • Soiled City on a Hill: a major theme in their albums, particularly the first songs on Metachthonia and Wanderer on the Continent of Saplings is that humanity has lost touch with itself, forgetting our origins and roots, to ill effect.
