Smooth McGroove (real name Max Gleason) is a musician and gamer. Originally a drummer, as of a couple years ago he branched out into covering video game music with the power of his voice. After a few original songs, Smooth launched almost exclusively into these multi-tracked, multi-session labors of love. Often, his long-suffering cat Charl will guest star in one or more of the sessions, dancing his little heart out. He also plays and streams games on his other channel, Smooth McGames.

Smooth McGroove's works provide examples of:

  • A Cappella: He performs music using only his voice.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His Pokémon theme parody is sung from the perspective of in-game Pokémon trainers who try to fight the Player Character using their crappy teams, only to be beaten badly. The music videos shows a poor lv. 13 Pidgey falling to a Hyper Beam from the player's lv. 70 Mewtwo.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He has a black cat named Charl whom he frequently lifts into view during an acapella cover.
  • Once an Episode: He lifts his cat Charl into one of the camera shots (occasionally more than one).
  • Song Parody: He has made a parody of the first Pokémon theme song. The original is a celebratory song from the protagonist's point of view. His parody is told from the perspective of random in-game Pokémon trainers who suffer Curb-Stomp Battles at the protagonist's hands.
