There will be people going cuckoo for my tropes!:
- Accidental Misnaming: In "Christian Bale is at Your Party", Christian Bale shows up to your house party. One of the first things he does is flirt with your niece, while getting her name wrong. Now Christian Bale is flirting with your unattractive niece
She is named Amanda but he's calling her Patrice - Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: One of Christian Bale's misdeeds in "Christian Bale is at Your Party", after overstaying his welcome and "stabbing at your wife with a carrot for a knife", is "making fun of your kazoo".
- The Bad Guy Wins: In "Christian Bale is at Your Party", despite Christian Bale's inconsiderate attitude, rampant swearing, and running naked through your neighborhood, he still manages to evade the police and get away with it.
- Be Yourself: "Perfect". The singer tells his girlfriend that he loves her no matter what, and that she's perfect how she is.You and I will always belong
So give a little sing to your song
Don't be sad or scared at all
Even if you can't recall
You're perfect in the way that you are
Perfect in the way that you are - Break-Up Song: "The Rendezvous" is about two people having broken up. The man wants to apologize for his mistakes and see her again, while the woman hopes that he's being honest. They eventually get back together, getting engaged and admitting that the biggest mistake they made was leaving each other.I can see I was wrong (I want you back tonight)
Didn't take very long (I want a hand in mine)
I go dark when you're gone
We could start it again - Changing Chorus: "Country Good
" has a different line to end the chorus, before "this is country good".- First chorus:It's our life, and we live it like we should.
- Second chorus:It's our life, and it's always understood.
- Final chorus:It's our life, and we've done all that we could.
- First chorus:
- Clocks of Control: Mr. Fluglemeyer, the singer character of "Cuckoo
", produces cuckoo clocks using child slaves (whom he treats cruelly). He sings about his ambitions to become wealthy from selling his clocks, but it's clear that he just wants to have more people who he can tell what to do. - Determinator: "I'm Gonna Win" asserts that the singer will never give up until he achieves his goals. But I'm gonna win, I'm gonna try
I'll never lose, I'll never die
You've seen me before, you'll see me again
I'll never give up, I'll never give in - Gratuitous Spanish: The bridge of "Flamingo" is sung in Spanish, while the rest of the song is in English.
- Miniscule Rocking: "In Memoriam" is 1:12.
- Pep-Talk Song: "Let Your Mother Know" is directed at a person who smokes and does drugs to cope with their pain. The song implores them to talk to their mother about it to feel better, since "you don't need an invitation to come home".
- Sdrawkcab Speech: One of the shouts of "Flamingo!" at the end of "Flamingo" is played in reverse.
- Self-Empowerment Anthem: "I'm Gonna Win", adapted from Tally Hall's "All of My Friends". This song removes the Cruel Twist Ending; it's an intense, abrasive song about the protagonist being determined and never giving up.
- Steven Ulysses Perhero: "Cantor" is a type of ritual singer in Jewish religious music (think choir leader). Rob Cantor may not be religious, but he's definitely a singer.
- The Thing That Would Not Leave: "Christian Bale is at Your Party
". It details a scene where Christian Bale shows up to your house party uninvited. He starts doing things like eating all your queso dip, selling frozen pizza by the slice, and talking on your phone. Then, this escalates to him stabbing your wife and running naked through the crowd. Someone calls the cops on him, and they chase him down the street, but he manages to escape at the last moment. - Villain Song: "Cuckoo", an unreleased song by Rob Cantor, is sung by a character named Mr. Fluglemeyer, a corrupt "cuckoo clock supplier" singing about his ambitions to become rich and famous by selling his clocks... which are assembled by child slaves, a fact that he takes pride in. Also, it's implied that the clocks somehow kill people.
- Wicked Pretentious: Mr. Fluglemeyer in "Cuckoo" dreams of being in the upper class, but it's clear from the lyrics that he's a crude and horrible person who cheats his customers, uses child slaves, and just wants everyone to do his bidding. The song itself uses the tune of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Für Elise", just to hammer in how he attempts to appear cultured.
