Project Born consists of rappers Frank Nitty and Half Pint Capone. Much like The Dayton Family, PJB is from Flint, Michigan, and PJB's raps describe ghetto life as a Wretched Hive, making a special point to avoid glamorizing poverty and/or crime life; PJB doesn't write lyrics about their possessions or other rap stereotypes. Their lyrics fall into Types 1 & 3 of Gangsta Rap. Oddly enough, despite this ultra-realistic, serious approach to lyricism, the first label they signed with was Psychopathic Records, the label founded by the goofy, ultra-violent Insane Clown Posse.

PJB gave their demo Forever In The Jects to ICP's Violent J, who liked PJB's approach to lyricism and thought that PJB would achieve the same level of underground success as the Dayton Family. Psychopathic originally intended to release the demo as PJB's debut release, but PJB lost the cassette. Unfettered, Psychopathic recorded the EP Born Dead with PJB, and ICP even cut a guest spot on the EP, "Graveyard". The EP turned out to not be as good as the original demo, and received lukewarm sales. PJB were soon dropped from the label, but continued to record material, and have been regular attendants of the Gathering of the Juggalos, performing in 2000, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2012.
