Hosianna Tropes:

  • Epic Rocking: The Title Track of Hosianna Mantra is over 10 minutes.
  • Miniscule Rocking: Both "Andacht"s on Hosianna Mantra are around 45 seconds long.
  • New Sound Album: They began as a vehicle for Florian Fricke's work on the Moog synthesizer. 1972's Hosianna Mantra sees him abandon electronics altogether for a sound based around piano, light vocals, soft electric guitar, Indian classical instruments (sitar, tambura) and chamber music instrumentation (oboe, violin). The new sound coincided with Fricke's greater focus on Hinduism and Christian spirituality, and was so well-received it became the ensemble's main style for ensuing works.
