Ookla the Mok are a filk band who are well-known in the Filk community, though mostly unknown elsewhere. They have a curious history for providing page quotes without having a page of their own, until now.

The name comes from the character of Ookla the Mok from the early 1980s cartoon series Thundarr the Barbarian.

Tropes appearing in their music include:

  • Crack is Cheaper: "Stop Talking About Comic Books or I'll Kill You", about a couple who argue over the sheer volume of comic books, films, and memorabilia they both collect.
  • Disappeared Dad: "Tiberius Rising" is from the perspective of a father who misses his now-grown son, Jimmy, and is almost an inversion of this trope, since it's the son who was always the distant one. If you pay attention to the subtext, you'll realize that Jimmy is James Tiberius Kirk.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: "My Secret Origin", which is the lament of a young adult who is disappointed at their mundane life.
  • Super Hero Origin: "Super Powers", which describes the origins of several well-known superheroes.
  • Slow Clap: "Hollywood's Ending" describes a theatre full of people reacting this way to the equally cliched ending of a cowboy movie. The narrator notes that everybody wants to be in their own movie.
  • Villain Song: "Mwahaha", which discusses a number of villainous tropes.
  • Weirdness Magnet: The narrator of the song "Stranger in the Mirror", who is strongly implied to be John Constantine based on some of the bizarre events mentioned.
