Loituma is a Finnish quartet combining a capella with folk music. Their most notable song is a Cover Version of Ievan Polkka, a song about a Rebellious Spirit outsmarting her mother so that she could go to dance at a polka.

The group was founded in 1989 under the name Jäykkä Leipä (Finnish for "Stiff Bread") and was originally a septet, consisting of Sari Kauranen, Anita Lehtola-Tollin, Timo Väänänen, Hanni-Mari Autere, Sanna Kurki-Suonio, and Tellu Paulasto. The seventh person remains unnamed and unknown. At the beginning of The '90s, Paulasto, Kurki-Suonio, and the unnamed seventh person would leave the group to pursue their own careers, leaving the lineup as it currently stands today.

The group released their first album, Loituma, in 1995, and then three years later in The United States under the name Things of Beauty. In 1998, roughly the same year as Things of Beauty came out in the US, they released their second, and currently last, album, Kuutamolla (Finnish for "moonlight"), which was also released in 1999 in the US as Under The Moonlight. As neither album was popular enough in the US, they fell into obscurity for a few years. That was until someone made the Leekspin meme using a clip from Bleach and their version of Ievan Polkka. Their popularity spiked and the group, as well as Ievan Polkka, are recognized around the world.
