- Berberian Sound Studio (2012) note Somewhat of a hard film to rank, given that the violence happens in the movie within a movie The Equestrian Vortex, but no visual clips of the film are actually shown. Nevertheless, despite the fatal violence occurring offscreen, there are some very disturbing audible depictions and descriptions of sexual violence that, while In-Universe (keeping it from a level 5), are far too brutal for a level 3, especially given the Mind Screw nature of the latter half of the film.
- The Big Heat (1953) note The coffee scalding is perhaps too brutal for a level 3 rating.

Other scenes of violence that are a little too intense for level 3.

- Hard Times (1975) note There's not much blood, but the bare-knuckle boxing scenes can be rough.
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)note Easily the least graphic of the HP films. The backstory involves the attempted murder of the title character when he was a baby. There's a brief flashback to Harry's mother being murdered with a Killing Curse; the spell causes no visible injuries. A boy falls from a height and gets a broken arm. A dark wizard is seen drinking a dead unicorn's blood; depicted as silver in the film. We briefly see blood on a man's leg; the wound is covered with clothing. In the climax, three 11 year olds encounter physical hazards that leave them with bruises and cuts; one is knocked unconscious with a stone arm. The villain, who has a menacing face on the back of his head, strangles Harry. When Harry touches Quirrel, his skin blisters and burns. The characters cracked face looks somewhat gruesome, before he crumbles into dust.
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)note Disturbing cloaked ghostlike creatures attack the main character in multiple scenes through Mind Rape. A shapeshifter taking the form of a dog attacks a major character in the leg and drags him off. Some blood can be seen after the others track him down. A large creature attacks a character in retaliation, but no injury, other than some clothing damage, is visible, and the victim is implied to be exaggerating his pain. There is a scene where this creature is implied to be executed through decapitation via a Gory Discretion Shot, but this scene is later revealed to be a fake-out. A brutal murder is described, but not shown, where an amputated finger is said to been left at the scene. The main character inadvertently inflates his aunt like a balloon, which is mostly comedic in nature.
- Hell Is for Heroes (1962)
- High Road To China (1983)
- Home Alone (1990) note Brutal, repeated slapstick, such as a nail to the foot and a man's head being set on fire.
- House of Wax (1953) note For the killer's graphic for the time facial/body horror, a surprisingly graphic wax sculpture depicting a fairly bloody neck stabbing, and a disembodied wax head implied to be a real decapitated head.
- The Hunt for Red October (1990) note Blood seen on men's clothes after being shot.
- The Incredible Hulk (2008) note CGI fight scenes that are too intense and rough for level 3. Hulk is graphically stabbed in the chest with a giant spike, drawing green blood. A giant creature attacks a man offscreen, after which the man is seen with a swelling and mildly bloody head.
- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) note A Nazi is run over by a car (dark lighting obscures the details), there are a couple of mild impalings, and a dead villain has a very mildly dirtied/burned head/face.
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) note It's a hard level 4, featuring people briefly shown being scorched after standing behind a rocket sled taking off, a preserved corpse decaying suddenly, a dead alien's crystal skull being shown under its skin, and a couple of people being swarmed by man-eating ants (one man has said ants crawl into his mouth while screaming).
- Infra-Man (1975)
- Iron Man 2 (2010) note A robot accidentally shoots a person offscreen, splattering blood on the camera lens, although this is in black-and-white. A man spits blood after a fight. A man breaks another man's neck (partially obscured).
- The Iron Mistress (1952) note It's a very soft level 4, with just enough appearances of blood to qualify.
- I Walk The Line (1970) note A bloody, yet non-fatal, confrontation at the end results in one person being shot and another slashed with a farming hook.
- Justice League (2017)
- Khartoum (1966)
- Kiss of Death (1947) note An old lady is tied to a wheelchair and rolled down a staircase to her death (not particularly graphic due to camera angle).
- The Last Dragon (1985) note There's very little blood, but the fighting can get quite rough, including some mild bone-breaking.
- The Last Man on Earth (1964) note Some impaled bodies are seen, though this isn't particularly graphic. Otherwise a 2 for assorted bloodless violence.
- The Last Outpost (1935) note A crowd of civilians is massacred by the genocidal Ottoman Empire, but only the gunshots are heard.
- Lifeboat (1944)
- Life Is Beautiful (1997) note It deals with the Holocaust, but there isn't a significant amount of onscreen violence.
- The Little Mermaid (2023) note Just like the original, it ranks here for Ursula's onscreen impalement.
- The Man Who Laughs (1928) note The scene towards the beginning showing a man being put in an iron maiden (no blood) is probably cruel enough to reach a soft level 4. Some level 3 violence includes some skeletal corpses hanging from the gallows and blowing in the wind and a dog bloodlessly killing a human by biting his throat
- The Man Who Saves the World (1982) note Bloodless narmy dismemberment
- The Marksman (2021) note Several bad guys emerge somewhat bloodied from a crashed car.
- The Mercenary (1968) note It's a fairly hard level 4, due to the scene where a hand grenade explodes in a man's mouth (not as gory as it sounds).
- Moonraker (1979) note A giant snake is killed by being stabbed in the head with a syringe (simulated animal killing). Otherwise level 2.
- Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)
- The Mummy (1959) note The mummy gets impaled through the chest, as well as being shot countless times with clear marks from impact. It's kept down here by the lack of blood and how it doesn't seem to deter him until death. The flashback to the mummy's creation involves a man's tongue being cut out, but this isn't shown in an explicit way.
- My Week with Marilyn (2011) note A light 4 for the scene where Marilyn miscarries; she abruptly wakes up in excruciating pain and begs for a doctor, with a lot of blood gushing from between her legs. The scene isn't too graphic beyond that but it's upsetting, especially given Marilyn's pain and anguish. No other violent scenes besides Marilyn being swamped and nearly smothered by a crowd of fans
- On the Waterfront (1954) note There are a few instances of characters having realistically bloodied/cut faces/heads due to beatings.
- Oppenheimer (2023) note For hallucinations of a woman's skin starting to flake from an atomic explosion as well as an ashen human husk being stepped in; and Jean's brutal drowning.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
- Police Story (1985)
- Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) note Primarily here due to the scene where Wolves break loose at Connor's proposal and start attacking people.
- Power Rangers (2017)
- Private Peaceful (2012)
- The Reivers (1969) note A non-fatal fight involving a knife results in blood on a child's hand as he stops the blade with his bare hand.
- Rebel Without a Cause (1955) note Primarily here for the knife fight, which results in some bloody wounds and shirts, and Plato getting shot and killed by the policeman; not gory, but still quite realistic, especially by 1955 standards.
- Return Of The Seven (1966) note There are a few blood squibs during the final shootout, but nothing too serious (it's a softer level 4).
- Richard Jewell (2019) note The bloody aftermath of a terrorist bombing is shown, but it's not gory.
- Ride Vaquero (1953) note A man is tortured by being shot in non-life-threatening parts of his body (some minor blood, but the victim survives).
- Rio Bravo (1959) note A criminal is shot, and we later see a glass of beer stained with blood and quite a bit of it on his leg. A hard 4.
- Robin Hood (1922) note It gets rated a level 4 for some of the torture depicted.
- The Rocketeer (1991) note Would be a 3 if it weren't for Lothar's method of killing: Literally folding people in half. And not in a cartoonish way either.
- Rocky III (1982) note It's a light level 4 for some tough, hard-hitting, repeated, mildly bloody boxing violence.
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) note A character appears to be bloodlessly slashed at the waist and another bloodlessly impaled. Other miscellaneous genre violence, including Darth Vader bloodlessly killing some uniformed guards with a lightsaber.
- Rush Hour (1998)
- Rush Hour 3 (2007)
- Samaritan (2022) note There's a jump scare where a man is suddenly hit by a high-speed car. This apparently breaks many of his bones (no compound fractures), but he uses his superpowers to crack everything back into place, somewhat painfully. There are several others acts of violence related to this near-invincible person taking damage that would kill a normal person, and other, somewhat harsh, superhero-genre fighting/killing.
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010) note A light 4 for Scott Pilgrim being impaled with a sword. (He gets better)
- Shanghai Express (1986)
- Sherlock Holmes (2009) (2009) note A couple of slow motion hand-to-hand fights in which joints are heard being dislocated and bones being broken, accompanied by detailed descriptions of the injuries in the narration. Pig carcasses are seeing being cut in half in one scene. A hard 4.
- Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) note One character is shown with a pair of arms he recently ripped off another (sentient alien) character, but, due to the lighting and camera position, it's not quite as gruesome as it sounds.
- Spider-Man (2002) note A man is graphically impaled by a bladed glider: We see him bleeding from the mouth a bit (borderline 5). A man is kicked in the crotch. Some of the fight scenes are a little too intense for level 3 (the last fight scene in particular).
- Spider-Man 2 (2004) note Mostly level 3, but occasionally gets to 4 (the hospital scene, a woman killed by shattering glass, etc.).
- Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) note It's a harder level 4, for a character being bloodlessly impaled through the chest by a lightsaber, a villainous character being cut in two at the waist with a lightsaber (some blood vapor is briefly shown), and a relatively tame cremation scene.
- Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) note It's a hard level 4 for a man having his neck crushed (with sound effect) by another man's strangling grip, a couple of charred skeletons in a burning building, and a bloody, severed arm from a humanoid alien lying on the floor of a cantina.
- Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) note It's a hard level 4, for an animal being cut with a lightsaber, complete with what appears to be fat, muscle, or something along those lines, a sci-fi creature feasting on another dead one, a vision of a character dressed from head to toe in armor being bloodlessly decapitated, some mild torture, and a character having his hand being bloodlessly severed by a lightsaber.
- Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) note There are a few people who get bloodlessly impaled through the chest by lightsabers.
- The Swarm (1978) note Many people, including kids, are swarmed and stung to death by killer bees, often in slow-motion.
- The Ten Commandments (1956) note It's a hard level 4, for a soldier standing next to baby carriage with a bloody sword (implying recent infanticide), lots of water turning into blood, lambs' blood being smeared on doorways, and some mild sexual menace.
- There Be Dragons (2011)
- Thunder In The East (1952) note A man takes a thrown knife to the bare neck (no blood).
- Transformers (2007) note A giant scorpion-like robot kills a soldier by graphically impaling him with its sting and dragging him underground (this is bloodless). A giant robot kills another giant robot by tearing it in half (brief).
- Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) note Would be much higher if the carnage was directed at organic beings. Especially when Scourge has both of his arms cut off before being decapitated.
- TRON: Legacy (2012)
- Twin Dragons (1992)
- Uncharted (2022) note For a non-graphic throat cutting with minimal blood. Otherwise a 2.
- Valkyrie (2008)
- The Vampire Bat (1933) note A body is emptied of blood with some blood shown going through a tube into a beaker. The blood is used to sustain a pulsating blob of synthetic flesh (which basically just looks like a sponge).
- War Horse (2011) note There's almost no blood, but the scenes depicting violence are intense enough to rate a level 4.
- Wild Strawberries (1957) note During a nightmare scene, a man with a scrunched-up face collapses dead in the street, with quite a bit of blood pooling near his head. It might be rated higher if it wasn't so abstract.
- Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) note Devastating, sometimes lethal superhero mayhem, but almost entirely bloodless save for a little blood shed when Cletus bites Eddie, crude drawings of his childhood crimes, and a smashed spider. Light sci-fi body horror. Cletus stomping an innocent clerk to death offscreen and a cop stabbed in the shoulder with a trowel before being choked with chains and thrown off a ledge. An implied decapitation.
- Whiplash (2014) note A couple of instances where a man bleeds a little on a drum set as he plays. In one scene he dips his injured hand into a bucket of ice water, resulting in the water becoming bloody. An intense and sudden car crash in which a man gets a bloody head wound, although this isn't particularly graphic.
- White Sun of the Desert (1970)
- Will Penny (1967) note A man bloodily scratches another man's face with his fingernails during a fight. There are several other acts of (occasionally hard) level 3 violence that are either fatal or non-fatal.
- Wings (1927) note It has a couple of moments that are fairly graphic by 1927 standards, including a man puking up quite a bit of blood after being shot and a noticeable amount of blood gushing out of a man's shirt after being shot.
- The Wreck Of The Mary Deare (1959) note It's a very soft level 4 for the finale, which shows a man being stabbed in the leg with a hook and then painfully yanked into some water and, later, the hook being thrown at a man's face (with some mild blood, but the hook doesn't appear to be lodged in the victim).
- X-Men (2000) note Mostly bloodless sci-fi action violence, although some scenes are too intense for level 3.
- xXx (2002)
- xXx: State of the Union (2005)
- Yellow Sky (1948) note A woman is forcibly kissed several times, with her fighting to break free of the men's grips. Some might see at least one of these events as the prelude to rape, but dialogue seems to suggest that the men just want a kiss.
- The Zone of Interest (2023) note Sight of pulled teeth, part of a skull, and ashes of concentration camp victims. Numerous audible screams from the concentration camp executions and a soldier drowning a prisoner. While all offscreen, they are disturbing enough to make it a hard 4.
- Zulu (1964) note This one may have been rated higher if the violence looked more realistic.
Level 5
- 22 Jump Street (2014) note There's some minor blood spurting from gunshot wounds, but this one is less graphic than its predecessor.
- 1408 (2007) note A man's hand gets crushed by a window, and it bleeds quite a bit. A zombie's head is smashed, with dust instead of gore. A cracked wall has a lot of black/brown-ish blood coming out of it. Brief, black and white photos of corpses with blood. Similarly brief flashes of corpses. A vision of a child with bloodied feet, who crumbles into dust. A pretty hard 5.
- A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001) note Even though almost all the violence is directed at robots, it can still be a bit on the brutal side. Robots (of varying degrees of looking life-like) are "tortured" by being sawed in two, having acid poured on them, and being shot out of a cannon. A "child" robot is attacked and decapitated.
- Alice in Wonderland (2010) note A decapitation of a dragon (neck stump visible). Some purple blood drips out of its mouth later. A leopard-like creature has its eyeball pulled out its socket in a very graphic close-up with a pin, although this is very cartoonish and no blood is seen.
- All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) note It's rated a soft level 5 for the scene with the severed hands hanging onto the barbed wire.
- All Quiet on the Western Front (1979) note This one could be considered a harder level 5, due to some of its mild blood squib usage and general brutality.
- All The Young Men (1960)
- American Hustle (2013) note A man is suddenly shown being shot in the neck area with bloody results, but it's very brief and not shown in close-up.
- The Americano (1955) note There's a very brief rape attempt that's stopped by the main character.
- Amour (2012) note Although not nearly as brutal as Haneke’s other films, the ending with husband Georges’ upsetting Mercy Kill of his defenseless wife Anne by smothering her with a pillow is more than brutal enough to end up here.
- Andersonville (1996)
- Ant-Man (2015) note A human and a lamb are reduced to tiny piles of red goop by unsuccessful shrinking technology.
- The Avengers (2012) note A man is impaled with a bladed staff. The staff emerges from his chest with some blood seen on the blade, the man's shirt and in his mouth. This isn't particularly graphic, though. A man has his eye forcefully extracted (or at least very painfully scanned) with a futuristic device. No blood or gore is seen and it isn't particularly graphic, since the perpetrator obscures the act, although screaming and squishy sound effects are heard. The man's injuries aren't seen either. Graphic violence towards alien creatures (Chitauri): They are stabbed, shot with arrows, crushed, dismembered, and scorched by lightning, at times accompanied by splatters of purple blood.
- Batman (1989) note A man is burned to a skeletal crisp, but the process isn't graphic. A woman's badly scarred face is seen. A man gets bloodlessly stabbed with a pen around the neck/face area.
- Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) note It's a hard level 5 for some blood smearing on walls, the ghastly true appearance of the underground mutants, a vision of a statue crying and vomiting blood, and some non-blood squibs on people being shot. Surprisingly, this movie is rated G.
- The Black Cat (1934) note It's a hard level 5 for the disturbing ending, where a bound villainous character has his face flayed off by a scalpel while still alive. However, the audience only sees a shadow on the wall of the attacker moving the blade around the victim's head and a close-up of a bound hand squirming in agony. Needless to say, it would be much higher if any actual details were onscreen.
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) note A scene where a woman is impaled and then she forces herself off the spear impaling her is just rough enough to fit here.
- Blue Jasmine (2013) note A light 5 for Dr Flicker's comically awkward but very uncomfortable attempted rape of Jasmine.
- The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (2008) note While the ending involves many people being gassed to death, it's probably not depicted graphically enough to rate higher than an unusually strong 5.
- The Bridge (1959)
- The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) note Some dead people are seen in a lake, with the water running red with blood, though this is seen from a distance. Otherwise, the appearances of mild blood would be around the 3-4 range.
- Cape Fear (1962) note There's a lot of sexual menace, including an implied rape/beating.
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
- Cash Back (2006) note For Jenkins getting his nose bloodily bashed in with a football (borderline 6).
- Chef (2014) note A dead pig is shown being cut up somewhat to be used as food in a kitchen.
- China (1943) note The film contains an offscreen rape that the victim later dies from.
- Cleopatra Jones (1973) note There are some relatively mild blood squibs and a character gorelessly taking a ride through a car grinder.
- Cleopatra Jones And The Casino Of Gold (1975) note A character is shown after being bloodily impaled through the chest and, later, some water turns red from blood when a dying character falls into it.
- The Commuter (2018) note It's pretty soft, as far as level 5s go, though.
- Compañeros (1970)
- Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) [PG-rated cut] note There's some brutal torture by electrocution, some intense street fighting, and a man spitting up blood after being whacked in the face with a firearm stock.
- Cotton Comes To Harlem (1970) note A character is shot with a few mild blood squibs on him.
- The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) note Man seen with bloody marks after being repeatedly whipped. Impalement with blood, but no spurting.
- Courage Under Fire (1996)
- The Covenant (2006)
- The Craft (1996) note For a scene of Attempted Rape and other violence that's a bit too intense for Level 4. There's some blood spilt, including close-ups of needles entering skin, a girl getting her wrists slashed by a knife and a girl being covered in cuts after being smashed into a mirror. There's also a flashback to a girl attempting suicide; it's not graphically depicted but we do see blood spatters. It should be noted the film was shot as a PG-13 movie, but still got an R rating because it involved teen girls practicing witchcraft.
- The Cranes Are Flying (1957) note It's here for an implied rape. The film's non-sexual violence is on level 2.
- Creep (2014) (2014) note An axe is swung into a man's head, killing him instantly, but there's no blood and it's from fairly far away. Disturbing references to sexual violence that the villain made up. The rest of the film would be a 0, but the increasing sense of danger ramps it up to a 3 or so.
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) note A throwing star hits a man’s head with a very small amount of blood and is briefly seen sticking out of the man’s head. The lighting is very dim, which obscures any very gory detail. Jade Fox’s death, in which many small darts fire back at her and discharge a fairly moderate blood squib, also reaches this level. Otherwise, a solid level 4 for almost entirely bloodless wuxia combat that’s sometimes a tad too rough for level 3.
- Dark Of The Sun (1968) [PG-rated cut] note The PG-rated cut of the film gets a level 5 for the murdered man shown through binoculars (with his severed leg lying next to him), a man being tied up and jabbed in the face with a lit torch, a character being bloodily impaled through the chest by a bayonet, and quite a bit of water turning red from blood after a character is stabbed in it.
- Dial M for Murder (1954) note For the "murder" scene. a man attempts to strangle a woman, so she fights back; he is brutally stabbed with scissors, burying them into his back as he falls. However, the scene is dimly lit, so there is nothing too graphic seen.
- Diamonds Are Forever (1971) note For Bond taking off a woman's bra and choking her with it in order to get information. Later, Bond shoots a fake Blofeld in the head, with a small amount of blood visible.
- Doctor X (1932) note The film revolves around what appears to be a series of cannibalistic serial killings (with a few corpses under sheets shown), but, at the end, it's revealed that the murderer is actually collecting human flesh for the manufacture of synthetic flesh. In a grotesque scene, the audience sees the villain apply globs of clay-like synthetic flesh to his face to disguise his appearance.
- Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) note Knight bloodlessly cut in half onscreen. Bloodless decapitation of helmeted knight. Some gross but not gory decayed reanimated corpses (one has a dangling eyeball). Mimic tongue bloodily sliced off. Mostly played for comedy. Combat is mostly on levels 3 and 4.
- Eagles Attack At Dawn (1970)
- Eddie Macons Run (1983) note There's an attempted rape that's stopped by the main character and a moderate blood squib during a dream scene.
- Emperor (2020) note A child is shown with bloody whip-marks across his back from offscreen torture.
- The Enemy Below (1957) note It largely gets rated this high for the scene with the bloody American sailor missing an arm.
- Enter the Dragon (1973) note For the overall themes of human trafficking, Williams being beaten to death, multiple (offscreen) bloody cuts on bare flesh, audible bone-breaking and the bloody aftermath of Han's death by impalement.
- Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) note It's largely here for the brutal finale, which shows a baby chimpanzee being fatally shot several times (with non-blood squibs on the cloth it's wrapped in) and a somewhat large blood squib on a human character.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) note For the blunt force trauma murders of a number of characters, with repeated close ups of their scarred and somewhat mutilated corpses, as well as disturbing scenes and themes of child abuse with sight of some mild bloody injuries/scarring. With the addition of typical genre violence, gruesome imagery, and scenes of fantastical torture (including electrocution) and mass destruction. Ambient violence involves a character being coerced into dying via an acidic solution - this is depicted as a form of state-sanctioned execution.
- Farewell To The King (1989) note A man has a bloody sack of what is implied to be severed heads, and, in another scene, a pond is almost entirely red from the blood of soldiers who were massacred in it.
- The Fast and the Furious (2001) (2001) note A man is tortured by having oil poured into his mouth, and there are a couple of mild blood squibs.
- Field Of Lost Shoes (2015)
- Firewalker (1986) note A bad guy starts to take off his pants with malicious intent next to an unconscious woman, but she wakes up in time to scare him off with a gun.
- First To Fight (1967) note A few moderate blood squibs can seen, mainly in the opening battle.
- A Fistful of Dollars (1964) note Relatively brutal violence is common, with notable acts of carnage including a man shown with a machete bloodily impaling his chest, a scene depicting a man being tortured by beating, a couple of goons being crushed against a door by a giant, rolling barrel (with a bloody aftermath shown), lots of people being ruthlessly gunned down as they try to escape a burning building, and a man shown with lots of blood on his face after receiving a shotgun blast to the forehead.
- Flying Tigers (1942) note It's fairly violent for a 1942 movie, with dying Japanese pilots grabbing their faces as blood oozes out from between their fingers, implying blood-gushing headshots.
- Freaks (1932) note A character is apparently mutilated offscreen. The result is later shown where she resembles a chicken (she may have had her tongue and legs cut off). While not violence per se, there are also some sideshow "freaks" with somewhat disturbing body abnormalities, such as a man (born?) with no limbs.
- The Fugitive (1993) note There's some moderately violent content, such as blood being shown on a window after a man receives a shotgun blast to the head (the blood is not shown while airborne). Some very mild surgery is also shown.
- Galaxy Quest (1999) note An alien's severed head is seen with mild green blood. A not-remotely human creature is turned inside out before exploding, but it's presented comedically.
- Gandhi (1982) note A man is shot with three possibly non-blood squibs on his chest. Other scenes show numerous civilians being shot and beaten, but without too much detail.
- Get Hard (2015) note For when James gets a shiv stuck in his forehead for an extended period of time. There is minimal blood but we see the flesh painfully indented and strech as they attempt to pull it out. Otherwise a 1.
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) note A zombie-like man is briefly shown being ripped in two vertically, with no real detail.
- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) note Relatively brutal violence is fairly common, with notable acts of carnage including a man being shot several times in the face through a pillow (no blood), a character having harsh sunburns all over his face after a forced walk through a desert, a scene showing a man being tortured by beating (complete with an attempted eye-gouging), a man is killed by having the back of his head repeatedly slammed against a rock (with some blood on the attacker's hand), and a corpse is run over by a train and dragged for a while.
- Gran Torino (2008) note It's largely rated this high for the implied rape. Otherwise, it might be a 4.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) note A hard 5. A cephalopod-like monster is sliced open, with a lot of yellow blood pouring out. A man smashes a spider and eats it. A severed human toe is presented in a comedic fashion, with a relatively non-graphic stump. A god-like entity regenerates from bone, with organs and muscle visible, but it isn't portrayed in a gruesome fashion. The former two would be a 7 if not for Alien Blood.
- Halloween (1978) note It's not very graphic by slasher film standards, featuring several fairly brutal stabbings/slashings, with little or no blood (and it never spurts and bare skin is never shown being punctured onscreen). A character is impaled in mid-air to a door by a large knife and left hanging, but no blood appears to be visible in this particular scene.
- The Hanging Tree (1959) note There's an attempted rape (with some beating) that's foiled by the hero.
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) note Messages are found written in blood. A cat is found hanging from a brazier; it's revealed she's petrified rather than dead but the image is disturbing. Other characters, including children, are found in the same unsettling state. A blanket-covered corpse is removed on a stretcher; we only see the hand. Harry's arm bones magically disappear and he can bend his arm unnaturally far; it's presented comedically. A phoenix claws out a monster's eyes; we only see the shadows though the monster's eyes are covered with blood afterwards. A monster gets fatally stabbed through the skull with a sword, with blood present. Harry gets a poisonous fang through his arm; the actual biting is difficult to make out, though we see the bloody wound in close-up. A character steps on bones. Lower level and ambient violence involves a car crash, images of a young girl used to write messages with blood, and violent threats muttered in the walls.
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)note A hard 5/light 6. There is frequent sight of one of Dumbledore's hands, which is blackened and withered as if burnt. Harry is stunned and has his face stomped on by Malfoy, breaking his nose; afterwards we see Harry with a swollen and bloody nose. A teenage boy is hit with a spell that causes multiple deeps cuts to open on his body (beneath clothing), with lots of blood flowing to redden a watery floor. A cursed teenage girl gets flung around and screams, her body "crucified" midair, before being thrown to the ground hard. A character is attacked by zombie-like creatures in an obvious though non-graphic state of decay and nearly drowns; another character non-graphically sets them alight with magic. A man cuts his hand with a small knife, wiping blood onto a rock - no blood is clearly seen. Genre violence involves destruction, including character's homes being accosted with fire. One character is killed, thrown from a high balcony, his body later shown indistinctly on the ground beneath.
- Henry V (1989)
- The Heroin Busters (1977)
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014) note We see some bodies piled up; most are covered with cloths though a few are uncovered and bloodied, with mild injury detail. A woman steps on a skull. A hospital is filled with people with cuts and bruises; some are bloodied, no graphic wounds are visible. Action violence includes quick images of soldiers shooting into crowds or bombings accosting dams, though none of it is graphic and it's often not seen clearly; this includes the hospital being bombed.
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (2015)
- Impindiso (1985) note A defenseless stabbing victim has a bloody, somewhat gushy, wound on the clothed torso.
- Inception (2010) note There are several blood vapor puffs from gunshot wounds.
- In Harm's Way (1965) note It gets a 5 for the implied rape of Annalee (Jill Haworth) by Eddington (Kirk Douglas).
- In Pursuit Of Honor (1995) note Many simulated horse-killings, including one scene where the horses are driven into a pit and machine-gunned (with quite a bit of blood painted onto the dead and dying horses).
- Island of Lost Souls (1932) note While there's not a lot of onscreen violence, the acts that are implied are truly horrific. The villain vivisects animals until they resemble humans (not exactly shown onscreen), one of these manimals attempts to rape a woman (but is stopped by gunfire), and the villain is vivisected to death at the end (the audience only hears his screams).
- Johnny Got His Gun (1971) note The main character's unthinkably horrible wounds are kept offscreen and under wraps, but they're implied strongly enough for the film to rate a level 5. If the injury detail was shown onscreen, it would be a level 10, and the film is arguably as disturbing as films on that level anyway.
- Jojo Rabbit (2019) note Somewhat bloody wounds.
- Kagemusha (1980)
- Kapò (1960)
- King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
- King Kong (1933) note There's some relatively brutal violence, such as people falling into a ravine to their dooms (with their impacts on the ground being shown) and King Kong killing a tyrannosaurus rex by opening its jaw to the breaking point (complete with gushing blood and cracking sound effect).
- Kongo (1932) note It's rated this high for the offscreen rape of Ann (Virginia Bruce). The non-sexual violence is on level 3.
- Krampus (2015)
- Last Year at Marienbad (1961) note It's a surrealist film, so events aren't easy to interpret, but one scene appears to show the brief build-up to a rape or rape attempt.
- The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) note This film might be strong enough to get a very mild level 6.
- Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) note It's the least violent of the Lethal Weapon movies, but blood still makes several non-explicit appearances and a man is drowned in wet cement.
- Little Shop of Horrors (1986) note A corpse is chopped to pieces with an axe, but nothing overly explicit is shown.
- The Long Ships (1964) note There's quite a bit of attempted rape and a man is executed (essentially offscreen) by being bisected or something by a giant blade.
- M (1931) note This is a difficult film to rate, as it revolves around a child-murdering serial killer and rapist, yet contains almost no onscreen violence.
- Mean Guns (1997) note There is a lot of harsh, brutal violence with guns and baseball bats, but, for a film rated R by the MPAA, there isn't much detail.
- Men in Black (1997) note An alien wears a man's hollow skin as a suit, which slowly decays and is eventually torn off. None of this is as gory as it sounds though. The same alien is blown in two with brown "blood" spraying, and then he is finished off by being blown to non-red bits. Otherwise, level 4.
- The Message (1976) [international version]
- missing. (1982) (1982)
- Missing in Action (1984) note It's a pretty soft level 5, having surprisingly little blood by the standards of an R-rated action movie. A man is repeatedly bayoneted, though.
- Mission: Impossible (1996) note It largely rates a 5 for the scene of Jack Harmon (Emilio Estevez) being bloodlessly stabbed in the face by elevator equipment.
- Mission: Impossible II (2000) note Although what is shown of the effects of the Chimera virus may cause this one to border on 6.
- Mission: Impossible III (2006) note It's rated this high for the material related to a miniature bomb that was placed in a character's brain and its tastefully-handled postmortem removal.
- Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) note Is a solid 4 until the knife fight in the climax.
- Mockery (1927) note A woman is almost raped on a few occasions.
- The Most Dangerous Game (1932) note A shark leaves some blood in the water after attacking somebody, the villain has decaying, severed heads mounted on the wall of his trophy room, a disembodied head is shown bobbing up and down in a jar, and a henchman has his spine snapped (break heard). The villain intends to rape the female lead, but is stopped before they get in the same room together.
- Moulin Rouge! (2001) note For the scene of attempted Rape as Drama where The Duke attempts to rape Satine after making it clear she loves Christian. Otherwise, level 4.
- The Mummy (1999) note There's minimal blood, but there is some moderate violence and related imagery, like beetles crawling under people's skin and a fantastical arm-severing (it's quickly reattached).
- Murder on the Orient Express (1974) note A corpse is seen with bloody stab marks on its chest, which also leave stains on a blanket. The multiple stabbings that lead to that death are shown, although the knife impacts occur below frame.
- Murder on the Orient Express (2017)note A man is stabbed to death offscreen; there's a lingering overhead shot of his bloody body. There's a flashback to the murder, though we only see the knife being brought down with the victim offscreen; the scene is in black-and-white and is soundless save for the final blow. In the backstory a man murdered a little girl; there are no details and the body is mostly concealed from view, though it's disturbing and upsetting given the victim is a child. A pregnant woman is said to have gone into premature labour, resulting in both her and the baby dying; we only see the woman collapsing. Two people are said to have killed themselves, though beyond a man shooting himself we get no details. A woman is non-fatally stabbed in the back with a knife; the blade is slowly pulled out with a little blood present and the camera angle blocks anything gory. A man's clothed arm is grazed by a bullet.
- Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932) note A screaming, practically-crucified woman dies after being injected with ape blood (she's dumped in the river afterwards). There's also the attempted rape of a human woman by an ape.
- Murders in the Zoo (1933) note A man is shown with his mouth sewn shut.
- Mystery Team (2008) note 2 dead bodies with bloody faces and bullet holes just out of clear view. A fairly bloody shot to the shoulder. General extreme Gross-Out Show elements. Implied gruesome mutilations; one involving a cherry bomb to the face (we hear some gross gurgling) and an invoked castration. All is played for laughs.
- The Naked Gun (1988) note There's incessant slapstick, the most violent being a baseball player's head gorelessly falling off during a replay on the jumbotron.
- Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994) note A man's head is comedically and gorelessly unscrewed from his shoulders during a fight.
- The Never Ending Story (1984) note Badly burned skull briefly shown. Wolf monster bloodily stabbed.
- Non-Stop (2014)
- Northwest Passage (1940) note It largely gets rated this high for one of the soldiers carrying around a severed Native American head in a sack for cannibalistic purposes.
- Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)
- The Outsiders (1983) note A teen boy stabs another; not shown onscreen, but water around the victim is shown turning bloody, and he is shown dead afterwards. Another teen boy gets burned, with some scars shown; he later dies from his injuries. Some other, lesser instances of blood.
- Pacific Rim (2013)
- Peeping Tom (1960) note A difficult film to rate. While it’s about a serial killer who gets sexually aroused by psychologically tormenting defenseless women and killing them while filming it, there is no gore or process detail. The film primarily focuses on the victims’ screams before they are killed - the worst detail shown is a corpse with a blanket covering it. However, even by modern standards, the relentlessly disturbing tone and buildup before each killing, coupled with the killer’s clear sexual excitement derived from them, is strong enough to warrant a level 5. The killer commits suicide in the end by stabbing himself in the throat, but there is little to no blood seen.
- Planet of the Apes (1968) note There may not be a whole lot of violence by modern action movie standards, but some of its content, like one of the characters' stuffed corpse, is strong enough to warrant a level 5 rating.
- The Princess Bride (1987) note It gets here due to Inigo Montoya's rather bloody fight with Count Rugen.
- Promising Young Woman (2020) note We hear a rape from a video (not shown) and said rape is the driving force of the plot. A character is brutally suffocated and their body is burned (not graphic).
- The Public Enemy (1931) note It gets a level 5 for the implied rape of a drunk character. The non-sexual violence is on level 3.
- Ready Player One (2018) note The virtual reality program prominently featured in the film contains acts of violence and other grotesqueries (like a flood of blood), but it's all pretty stylized.
- The Real Glory (1939) note A recently killed corpse is shown impaled at the bottom of a pit of spikes.
- Regeneration (1915) note The villain attempts to rape the female lead, but is stopped.
- Road House (1948) note A rape attempt is stopped by a Bar Brawl.
- Rock N Rolla (2008) note Small black blood splatters from offscreen shootings. A man is bloodlessly stabbed many times with a pencil. Man struck in the head with a plank is seen with quite a bit on blood on his body (he shrugs this off). Man is tortured with crayfish (no blood). Clear prelude to a rape is thwarted.
- Rocky II (1979) note It's not violence per se, but a couple of scenes take place in a meat-packing plant, showing big chunks of raw meat on meat hooks, meat being torn off bloody bones, etc.
- Rollerball (1975) note It's a rough film about a Blood Sport, but it's not gory. There is a scene where a man slides down the arena while leaving a trail of blood from his face, however, possibly making it a hard 5.
- Saints And Soldiers (2003)
- Santiago (1956) note Most of the violence is fairly tame, but there is an unusually graphic (by 1956 standards) headshot received by one character towards the beginning of the movie.
- Sergeant Rutledge (1960) note The film's plot centers around a rape and murder, but this isn't shown onscreen. The non-sexual violence is around level 4, featuring a dead man whose stabbed chest has blood on it and a fairly bloody gunshot wound that doesn't kill the victim.
- Shazam! (2019) note A character has their head bloodlessly bitten off by a monster, but the head removal is more offscreen than on. Another person is fantastically reduced to fiery ashes.
- Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) note A man is tortured by being stabbed in the shoulder with a large fishhook, and hung from the ceiling with it for some time while he yells in pain; his shoulder is seen bloodied later. Otherwise level 4.
- Shoulder Arms (1918) note There's a brief attempted rape that's foiled by Charlie Chaplin.
- Skinamarink (2023) note A young girl has her facial features supernaturally removed and we see a shot of her blank face. Sounds of a woman's bone cracking and her screams are heard. A boy is manipulated into injuring himself with a knife, and is killed and resurrected several times by a supernatural entity, with a pool of blood being seen, but both these actions and their aftermath are completely offscreen.
- Skyfall (2012) note A man is graphically shot in the shoulder, eventually staining his clothes with blood. A few dead men are seen lying in pools of blood. One or two puffs of blood in vapor form when people are shot. A man's neck is graphically broken. A hard 5.
- Skyscraper (2018) note Characters end up battered and bloody after somewhat brutal fights, a piece of shrapnel is removed in a painful-looking manner, and there's bloody fighting with blades.
- Spider-Man 3 (2007) note A grenade explodes next to a super-powered man's face in slow-motion: Not particularly graphic, although he is later seen with half of his face disfigured (slightly gruesome, although no blood or gore).
- Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) note Several characters who're covered in clothes or armor are bloodlessly beheaded by lightsaber (a few of them during a massacre scene). A man gets his arm bloodlessly cut off by a lightsaber.
- Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) note There's a rough fight scene, featuring a humanoid alien being cut in two at the waist with a lightsaber, a character dressed from head to toe in armor being beheaded by lightsaber, a character falling into a turbine (with armor being spat back out), and another character (who's wearing a helmet) being briefly impaled through the head with a lightsaber (not shown clearly). Despite the brutality of the sequence, there is not a notable amount of blood.
- Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) note An alien's disembodied head is plopped on a table (neck stump not shown) and lightning bolts cause a character's face to decay. A man is stabbed through the torso with a lightsaber and we see a close-up of the wound (burned-looking but not bloody).
- The Story of Temple Drake (1933) note The title character is raped offscreen.
- A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) note For a scene where a woman is knocked out and is heavily implied to be raped offscreen. Otherwise a level 1 for some intense domestic disputes that involve lots of yelling and smashing objects, and some men punch each other; but nothing too brutal.
- Suicide Squad (2016) note Most of the film has typical action movie violence, but there is a scene where a humanoid demon's hand is cut off, with some yellow blood briefly seen (he grows a new hand afterwards).
- Tenet (2020) note Some dental torture is obscured by a passing train and a man is bloodlessly slashed across the face with a cheese-grater during a fight.
- They Came To Cordura (1959) note An attempted gang-rape is foiled.
- Thor (2011) note A man is graphically impaled by a giant icicle, with some blood seen on the part of the icicle emerging from his back. Ice giants are decapitated and dismembered with swords and a hammer.
- To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) note Plot is kicked off when a black man is falsely accused of raping a white woman. While this rape accusation was false, it's all but stated that the woman's father did rape her. Otherwise a 2, as a rabid dog is bloodlessly shot and killed, a character is bloodlessly stabbed to death (more offscreen than on), and a child has some minor bruises on his face after an attack.
- Touch of Evil (1958) note It's implied that a woman is raped.
- A Town Called Hell (1971) [cut available on Amazon Prime] note There's some rough western violence and a few body squibs, but nothing gory.
- Tremors (1990) note People and animals devoured by monsters with a small amount of blood, monsters messily stabbed, shot, and blown up with orange blood and guts, man has face torn off.
- A Trip to the Moon (1902) note Here because of the scene where the spaceship crashes into the moon's eye, with discolored blood. It's not quite as graphic as it sounds, though the color version increases it to a level 7 with red blood.
- Unbroken (2014)
- Uncle Buck (1989) note There's an attempted rape that's foiled by the titular character. Other than that, there's slapstick on level 1.
- Uncommon Valor (1983)
- U.S. Marshals (1998) note There's some moderately bloody imagery, including a couple of fairly mild blood squibs.
- The Vanishing (1988) note An absolute level 0 in terms of onscreen violence, but gets up here solely to due to featuring one of the most horrifically cruel murder methods ever seen in any film.
- Van Helsing (2004)
- Vera Cruz (1954) note There's an attempted rape. The non-sexual violence is probably a hard level 3.
- The Walls Of Hell (1964)
- War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
- The Warriors (1979) note The film contains some small amounts of blood from a shooting, some rough fighting (some with baseball bats), and a switchblade knife being thrown into a man's arm (probably the most graphic scene). A man is implied to be beaten to death and a man is thrown onto some train-tracks and run over by the train, though both scenes utilise a Gory Discretion Shot. Much of the violence ranks Level 4, though it's bumped up to 5 due to a brief scene of sexual violence; a man gets rough with a woman he's making out with, ignoring her protests he's hurting her, though she handcuffs him to a bench before it goes too far.
- Without Remorse (2021) note For when John and his pregnant wife are shot with small blood splotches on the former and a somewhat bloody blanket on the latter. All other violence is completely bloodless but sometimes fairly brutal level 4 stuff.
- The World Is Not Enough (1999) note A rather extended scene where a man strapped to a torture device is choked by it.
- The World's End (2013) note It would be much higher if the robots had red blood instead of blue.
- Wonder Woman (2017) note It largely gets rated this high for the scene with the soldier missing part of his leg.
- X2: X-Men United (2003) note A scene where Magneto bleeds a man to death by controlling the excess iron contained in the man's blood. A large cloud of blood in vapor form can be seen emitting from the man. Magneto smiles sadistically after he does this. The rest of the violence is level 4.
- X-Men: First Class (2011) note A man is killed with a coin being slowly driven through his head with telekinetic powers: Graphic and intense, with blood seen on the coin as it comes out the back of his head. Quite a hard 5 because of this scene.
- XXX Return Of Xander Cage (2017)
- The Year of Living Dangerously (1982)
