Sidious: We must accelerate our plans, begin landing your Tropes.
Gunray: My Lord, is that memeable?
Sidious: I will make it memeable! Return to the main Star Wars meme page here.
Please add entries in the following format:
- The meme. Explanation The explanation behind the meme.
- Further mutations and successor memes, if any.
- "Oh, my God! What's wrong with your faaace?!" Explanation Mr. Plinkett's reaction to seeing Tey How's facial implants.
- I must be Frank, your Majesty Explanation Palpatine says this in a discussion with Queen Amidala. Similar to "I am the Senate" from Revenge of the Sith, people joked that Palpatine's real name was actually Frank or made Padmé joke about it in a dad joke fashion.
- A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Explanation Palpatine says this to Queen Amidala when he tells her that he's been nominated as a candidate to be Supreme Chancellor (of course, this was part of his plan the whole time). This quote has become an immensely popular template for reacting to all sorts of events, from morbid ones to hilarious ones.
- This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them! Explanation Nute Gunray's reaction after finding out he's working with two Sith Lords instead of just one. It's often used whenever someone or something is shown with a clone or duplicate.
- Are you an angel?Explanation The first thing Anakin ever says to Padmé. It initially became subject to confusion due to it referencing an aspect of real-life religion that seemed out of place in the franchise, and became used both sincerely and ironically for people considered beautiful. The former point has since been retconned: the Angels are an alien species that live in the moons of Iego, and are also called the Diathim.
- No one can kill a Jedi.Explanation Anakin says this to Qui-Gon during dinner, this proves to be Harsher in Hindsight after Anakin and the clones kill all the Jedi in Revenge of the Sith.
- I'll try spinning, that's a good trick. Explanation A famous flying trick from Anakin, in the battle to destroy the droid control ship. Also tends to be used with any instance of spinning in the series, and is often combined with the High Ground. (One can only imagine what combining the high ground and spinning would equal.)
- Now this is Podracing!Explanation Anakin says this while piloting a Naboo starfighter in the battle to destroy the droid control ship. Often used to caption all sorts of insane stunts or events. Took off in popularity when Jake Lloyd was arrested after a high-speed police chase in 2015.
- "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate... leads to suffering."Explanation Yoda tells Anakin that his fear for his mother can lead to the Dark Side. He was right. Fans bring this up for any other instance of characters turning evil/angry, and sometimes "suffering" is swapped out with something else.
- "Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and the apprentice." Explanation At Qui Gon's funeral, Mace asks about the Sith's reveal. Yoda tells him that there are always two of the Sith. This phrase sometimes accompanies pictures of two people who work together or share a certain trait.
- But which was destroyed? The master or the apprentice? Explanation Mace Windu's reply to the above.
- "My lord, is that legal?"
- "I will make it legal!"Explanation An exchange between Viceroy Gunray and Palpatine regarding the Trade Federation invading Naboo. Reached memetic status because, well, Palpatine. It's primarily used when something's legality is questioned.

- "Don't count on it, slimeball."Explanation Anakin's response to Sebulba's threats before the podrace. Occasionally quoted as the original Huttese line "Cho skrunee dopat, sleemo."
- "The negotiations will be short."Explanation Qui-Gon's prediction about the negotiations with the Trade Federation, reasoning that they're cowards and wouldn't mess with a pair of Jedi.
- "IT'S WORKING! IT'S WORKING!" Explanation Anakin's declaration when firing up his podracer, often quoted for its enthusiastic delivery.
- "There's Always a Bigger Fish."Explanation Qui-Gon's comically serious comment when he and his allies see a bigger predatory fish hunt the one chasing after them. Often used for when something/someone surpasses another in a way, or when the trope it named is demonstrated.
- "THEY'RE NO MATCH FOR DROIDEKAS!"Explanation Rune Haako's declaration when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon get confronted by Droidekas. Used to express the Droidekas' power.
- "They're still coming through!"Explanation The reaction of Rune Haako to the Jedi using their lightsabers to cut through the blast doors sealing off the bridge.
- "That is so wizard!" (in a very Beam Me Up, Scotty! sense, since Anakin never actually said it; his friend Kitster did.)
- CORN ON THE COOOOOOOBBBBBB!Explanation A mishearing of "Duel of the Fates" in which the lyrics are all in Sanskrit. It was not long before people started to post what they thought were the actual lyrics.
- Jar Jar is the key to all of this. Explanation George Lucas in a behind the scenes documentary musing that if Jar Jar can work as an effect the rest of the movie will work. People have since rolled with the idea that Jar Jar was intended to be The Man Behind the Man and the true villain of the series, before that plot was abandoned due to negative fan reaction to the character.
- "I may have gone too far in a few places."Explanation From the same behind-the-scenes documentary as above, Lucas's reaction after watching a screening of the complete film. Specifically, he was talking about how the climax cuts between four different battles with different tones, but since they're all interconnected it's too late to cut any of them out.
- Credits will do fine.
- No, they won't-a!Explanation Qui-Gon trying to mind trick Watto into accepting Republic Credits. It doesn't work. This exchange has become a large snowclone for all sorts of refusals, and sometimes the actual credits of the movie are brought in as a spin on the meme.
- "You must contact me!" Explanation Queen Amidala receives a transmission from Sio Bibble about Naboo's mounting death toll, unaware it's actually a Dark Side projection to lure her back. The Fake Bibble says this to try to get Amidala's attention
- "I don't sense anything." Explanation Fans also made use of Qui-Gon's line by making him a Jedi that feels no pain whatsoever.
- Various jokes about Darth Maul's failure to take the advantage of the high ground, such as:
Darth Maul: It's over, Obi-Wan! I have the high ground!
Obi-Wan: Oh, I don't think so. [cuts Maul in half]
Darth Maul: The High Ground will decide your fate.
Obi-Wan: I am the High Ground. [
cuts Maul in half]
Darth Maul: It's over, Obi-Wan! I have the high ground!
Obi-Wan: From my point of view I have the high ground!. [cuts Maul in half]
- Darth Maul's igniting his double-bladed lightsaber when facing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is frequently captioned, with the second blade representing a sudden contradiction, twist, or Diabolus ex Machina. For instance, "I like you / as a friend", "This is getting out of hand / Now there are two of them", and "I'm not (racist\furry\etc.) / BUT".
- Fake Windu Explanation When Palpatine and the Jedi masters arrive in Naboo for the celebration of peace after Maul is defeated and the Trade Federation's leaders arrested, we can see Mace Windu being played by a man who is definitely not◊ Samuel L. Jackson, likely his stunt double or a stand-in for a scene Jackson couldn't film.
- "Anyone else find this scene really hot?" Full quote (NSFW) "When the alien farts at Jar Jar? The alien just looks so feminine and sexy, and the way it farts and turns to him to flaunt it. Like it's inviting him to get closer for the next one. I first watched this movie when I was very young and I have masturbated to this scene so many times." Explanation A YouTube comment describing one person's "love" for this Toilet Humor scene, which became infamous for being squicky and Too Much Information. Pretty much every comment on uploads of that scene mentions that they're looking for "that comment".
- "He can see things before they happen. It's a Jedi trait." Explanation Qui-Gon says this to Shmi referring to Anakin's reflexes. This is commonly used when someone makes a joke prediction that actually ends up happening.

Qui-Gon: I don't have anything else, but memes will do fine.
Watto: No, they won't-a.
Qui-Gon: Memes will do fine. Watto: No, they won't-a!
