Please add entries in the following format:- The meme. Explanation The explanation behind the meme.
- Further mutations and successor memes, if any.
- "Things just got out of hand." Explanation This line, said by the alternate Strange in the trailer, has proven to be extremely exploitable.
- Absurd lists of cameos. Explanation With all the speculations and rumors circling around the film and its core concept of The Multiverse which would allow plenty of characters to show up, some people had a ball suggesting non-Marvel names or, more seriously, adding so many Marvel characters it would dwarf the casts of the last two Avengers film. As it turned out, the film was never intended to be that ambitious and remains centered on Strange and Wanda, with the lion's share of cameos being the Illuminati, who don't have that much screentime.
- Bully Cumberbatch/Benedick Cumberbatch/Benedict Cumberbad. Explanation A lot of fans have compared the alternate Strange to the already-memetic Symbiote-influenced Peter Parker, aka "Bully Maguire" due to being heroic characters in dark clothing. Additionally, Tobey Maguire recently returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the movie is directed by Sam Raimi, the man behind the first Spider-Man trilogy, all of which made jokes that alternate Strange will be acting just like Bully Maguire, combined with references to his infamous one-liners.
- Bully Olsen/Elizabitch Olsen/Scarlet Bitch. Explanation Once more images came out depicting a sinister-looking Wanda, fans decided to let Elizabeth Olsen in on the fun by adding her to their trio of Sam Raimi bullies. The meme only further increased as the film revealed that Wanda is the main villain who ends up slaughtering several heroes in her path.
- Strange's "High Body Count". Explanation After News sites reported Doctor Strange would have an "impressive bodycount", fans joked about Strange being a Sex God, and sleeping with everyone in the film, including Wanda and the alternate version of himself.
- Spider-Man 4 Explanation As soon as it was confirmed that Sam Raimi would take over directing duties, many fans (mainly those of the Raimi Trilogy) began joking that Raimi was going to use all the resources given to him to make the movie to instead finally make the fourth installment of his Spider-Man films behind Marvel's back.
- "The real crime would be not to finish what we started." Explanation This memetic line from Doctor Octopus is often referenced in those types of memes.
- Evil Dead 4/Drag Me To Hell 2 Explanation Once the movie finally came out, many viewers noted that the film was actually much closer in style and tone to Raimi's horror films than it was to his superhero movies. As such, many started joking that this movie was in actuality, an excuse for Raimi to make an Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell film disguised as a Marvel movie.
- "Find out in a theater. Not online." Explanation A week before release, there was a Content Leak showcasing the full Illuminati line-up (more in the Trivia section). The official Marvel Studios Twitter account changed its bio to the above line. Many joked that the studio had finally snapped after this and the Spider-Man: No Way Home leaks.
- "Not gonna spoiler, but make sure to watch X before you watch Multiverse of Madness." Explanation A copypasta that spread in wake of early reviews detailing the works needed to avoid Continuity Lockout, usually used to either mock the extensive focus on cameos in the pre-release marketing, or to promote works the poster likes.
- "This was my multiverse of madness." Explanation Many fans have taken to using this description for any prior crossover of famous characters or real life famous people from their adolescence and dubbing it as their own version of this film's major crossover of different characters.
- "This was the REAL multiverse of madness" Explanation Several viewers who felt disappointed with both the lack of cameos or its sparse exploration of the multiverse have brought up several films they feel are superior. Such as Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022) (for the copious amounts of cameos it had) or Everything Everywhere All at Once (which many felt explored the multiverse in a much more interesting and creative way).
- "If this is MoM's Wanda, this fight will be over in like five seconds." Explanation People joke that the Multiverse of Madness' Wanda will end every fight she's involved in previous movies in less than a minute
- Wanda’s lucky that Franklin wasn’t there. Explanation One of the more common exceptions to the above meme, both joking and serious. This particular example references Reed Richards’ son Franklin who is typically viewed as the most powerful being in the Marvel universe as a whole due to his unmatched control over the power cosmic and the ability to create realities even as a child.
- "She's pretty lucky David wasn't there either" Explanation Though not as prominent as Franklin, Charles Xavier's son David Haller, aka Legion, is brought up as an exception too. As he is also one of the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel universe.
- "This is Wanda being reasonable." Explanation Related to the above. Wanda's previous fights is her being "reasonable".
- "Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!" Explanation (SPOILERS) Fans have taken to this famous line from The Office, originally directed at John Krasinski's character Jim Halpert, jokingly attributing it to Ioan Gruffudd's Reed Richards admonishing Krasinski for replacing him as the character.
- Relatedly, "Why is Jim treating the magician poorly?" Explanation (SPOILERS) Another line from the show said by Robert California. For added bonus points, James Spader previously appeared in the MCU as Ultron.
- "I love you in every universe." Explanation (SPOILERS) Part of Stephen's Love Confession to 838-Christine towards the climax of the movie. The quote has become used by fans to describe their appreciation for different iterations of their favorite characters. It is often compared to the equally memetic "I love you 3000" from Avengers: Endgame.
- "I reject you in every universe." Explanation (SPOILERS) Fans came up with this quote, based on the above line, as a summary of the universal inability of Strange and Christine to stay together. Though they got to date in presumably more than one timeline, it is joked that it must always end with Christine rejecting Strange one way or the other.
- "What mouth?/What [X]?" Explanation (SPOILERS) When Reed warns Wanda that Black Bolt can destroy her with one whisper from his mouth, Wanda removes Bolt's mouth and promptly implodes his head. Many have replaced Black Bolt with a different character with Wanda removing a part of them. It also evolved into jokes about Reed using reverse psychology to trick Wanda into screwing herself over, IE saying that John Wick can kill Wanda with his dog.
- Jokes praising Black Bolt for his "mindblowing" performance. Explanation (SPOILERS) Black Bolt's notoriously graphic death, as described above, has inspired these sort of sarcastic comments.
- "It's Morbin' time." Explanation A catchphrase supposedly said by Dr. Michael Morbius (actually a play on words of "It's morphin' time" from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers) in the film Morbius. It gained traction in May 2022 following the release of this film, where many people joked that it contained a Morbius cameo in which he says that.
- "Time to get Morbed, Scarlet Witch." Explanation Another line many people jokingly claimed that Morbius says in his supposed cameo, usually accompanied with an obviously-doctored still from Morbius.
- "Stephen Strange, you are now called before The Illuminati. Meet [X]" Explanation The scene where Mordo introduces the members of the Illuminati, in particular Reed Richards' introduction, has been edited to introduce characters from other Marvel properties as well as characters from other franchises like Walter White or Sheldon Cooper.
- Making up for what we lost Explanation In the comment sections of these humorous edits. You will find plenty of commenters saying that these videos had better cameos than the actual movie. The film, while certainly included cameos, were sparse and mostly focused on Wanda and Strange.
- "SORCERERS, FORTIFY YOUR MINDS!!!" Explanation Benedict Wong's incredibly hammy delivery of this line made it ripe for meme fodder.
- Reed Richards the smartest man alive Explanation People make fun of the Informed Ability of Reed being the World's Smartest Man when he explains Black Bolt's powers to Wanda that leads him to get killed. Many memes instead alter his wording in the scene to show tricking Wanda into being killed by Black Bolt as befitting of someone actually that smart.
- Comparing Sinister Strange's Third Eye to the effects done on Annoying Orange, given its unpolished look.
- Having Wanda, to replace her lost boys, adopt heroes who lost their mothers, like Marc/Steven, Thor, and even America herself.
- "Pizza Poppa always gets paid!" Explanation A memorable line said by Bruce Campbell's pizza vendor character as he scolds America for not paying for the pizza balls she took. The line is especially popular amongst Sam Raimi fans due to Campbell's iconic status in the director's fanbase.
- Due to the film being centered on protecting the life of a character named "America", many moviegoers started joking that it's "one of the most of patriotic movies ever made".
- A Latina who has the power to cross borders. Explanation America Chavez has the ability to travel through the multiverse, essentially she’s crossing universal borders. Given that she is also a Latina hero, many have joked that she has the power to cross the Mexico–United States border.
- X was scarier than Multiverse of Madness Explanation Many detractors didn't find this film to be scary. Therefore, you will see many of them bring up several films they feel were scarier than Multiverse of Madness. Some legitimate, like Brightburn, or some mockingly sarcastic like My Little Pony: The Movie (2017).
- Doctor Strange in the Mom Explanation The acronym of the film's title is Multiverse Of Madness - MOM. The meme twists the title into something rather...erotic.
- "You [X] and become the hero. I do it and become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair." Explanation Lines uttered by Wanda in the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, often used to denote double standards or comment on how different communities/individuals react to controversies.
- "This is me being reasonable." Explanation A line uttered by Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to describe her summoning demonic creatures to capture America Chavez before doing it herself. Used to describe people committing over-the-top or violent actions while thinking they're perfectly justified or that such a thing is normal to do.
- "Black Bolt can tell you where to find your children. Tell her, Black Bolt." Explanation A popular fix to Reed Richards not acting like the smartest man alive and informing Wanda how the Illuminati member who posed the biggest threat to her could hurt her, leading to Black Bolt's gory demise.
- "Wanda, Black Bolt can destroy you with the power of ligma." Explanation Another variation of fixing Reed's mistake. The prank word varies from meme to meme, but Wanda is always portrayed as asking what the word is before Black Bolt smugly smirks, presumably getting ready to destructively tell her.
- Replacing Black Bolt's "I'm sorry" used to kill 838 Strange with other audio.

- Comparing Reed Richards to spaghetti or Play-Doh due to how he meets his end by Wanda.
- "Wheeeeeeee! I'm coming to get you!"Explanation One of Elizabeth Olsen's lines in the Bloopers.
- "You break the rules and become a hero"/"That doesn't seem fair Explantion An exploitable image macro from a scene taken from the February 2022 trailer, where Wanda says to Strange "You break the rules and become a hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair", used to start with a basic setup of something controversial for one group or thing but not another, often involving double standards.
- No body, no death. Explantion Often said by fans who refuse to believe Wanda is dead, mainly because Marvel didn't show her dying onscreen. Sometimes supported by some fans mentioning Marvel did the exact same thing to Bucky, who end surviving his supposed death.
