3 — Lord Snow

  • "Just so." note
  • "My sweet summer child. [What do you know of fear?]" — Old Nan's affectionate but patronizing appellation to the bedridden Brann when he demands to be told scary stories has been since picked as a way to address naive and/or optimistic people in conversations (such as when they express hope for things getting better in the setting).
  • "Gods, I was strong then!" note

4 — Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things

6 — The Old Gods and the New

9 — Blackwater
  • "Fuck The Kingsguard, Fuck The City, Fuck The King" in the eyes of the fans is the new house words for House Clegane thanks largely to Sandor for putting Joffrey squarely in his place with said words. The look on Joffrey's face afterward is utterly priceless.
  • The Hound requests someone bring him a drink. A lad hands him a skin, the Hound takes a swig, spits and is all: "Fuck the water. Bring me wine."
  • Stannis the Mannis, the Chuck Norris of Westeros, with the common phrase of admiration being some variant of "First off the boats/on the beach, first on the ladders/walls, slaughtering Lannister bitches like a boss and last to leave."

10 — Valar Morghulis

  • Robb Stark is a boss, though after his decisions in this episode, it's "Robb Stark is an idiot."
  • Theon's narmy face. And a book about his poor life choices, with the same face on the cover.

    Season 3
2 — Dark Wings, Dark Words
  • Catelyn's monologue has given rise to "If Catelyn had loved Jon Snow, [insert bad thing here] would not have happened".

3 — Walk of Punishment

  • Due to a faulty recording of a popular download of episode 3 with dissonant audio kicking in at a tense, dramatic moment, people sometimes interru— A BEAR THERE WAS, A BEAR, A BEAR!

  • Having become a Sex God, Podrick Payne has quickly earned the Fan Nickname, "Tri-Pod".
  • Re-watch bonus. Mance Rayder sends Tormund to climb the Wall with Jon Snow, Orell and twenty good men. Cue jokes about the fact that even beyond the Wall, they know the importance of handling dangerous tasks to twenty good men or Ser Twenty Goodmen spying in the wildling army for Ramsay Bolton.

4 — And Now His Watch Is Ended

  • Joffrey is a series-transcending villain for spoiling House of the Dragon. Explanation

5 — Kissed by Fire

6 — The Climb

  • The line "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention" is slowly gaining momentum as fans are applying it to the entire show.
  • "I can be your family." Line said by Arya to Gendry, a daughter of House Stark and Robert Baratheon's bastard. The battle cry of Arya/Gendry shippers everywhere. However, he refuses her with "You'd be my m'lady." Similar other characters being friendzoned (*Cough* Ser Jorah *Cough*), Arya got m'lady-zoned.
  • Arya confronting Melisandre in has spawned a few small memes, the most popular being Arya asking Melisandre if she is a witch.
    "Bitch I might be."
  • As with Tyrion slapping Joffrey, there are extended cuts of Ramsay blowing his trumpet.

7 — The Bear and the Maiden Fair

  • Posters in the spoilers-free Game of Thrones thread on Something Awful refer to Theon's still-unnamed torturer as Barry.
  • As soon as Jaime jumps into the bear pit his face goes well, shit. Fans have taken this screengrab and ran with it.

  • Hush, Hodor! No more Hodoring!note

  • "Perhaps I've made a terrible mistake", is Robb's entire storyline in a nutshell. And this is just one of many examples of this particular meme.
  • Blackfish excusing himself to go behind a tree and take the world's luckiest piss.note .
  • There's a picture circulating around of Edmure Tully with the caption, "I heard the party really died after I left."
  • Although the incident being referred is technically shown in the next episode, there is a Crosses the Line Twice meme which pictures Robb or Robb's desecrated corpse with a caption quoting or paraphrasing from the Macklemore song "Thrift Shop", "What you know 'bout rockin' a wolf on your noggin". See this video for reference.
  • It's popular for commenters on unrelated things to write something to the effect of "'the Rains of Castamere' starts playing" when referring to something ominous/bad that one knows is coming.
  • People have made up ads for "Frey Wedding Planners". Some of them are blood-splattered.
  • The line from Season 1 "A Dothraki wedding without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair" is now used to refer to the Red Wedding in various manners, including Walder Frey laughing at the remark and Khal Drogo declaring the Freys throw great weddings.
  • "[X] send their regards."
    • "The Lannisters send their regards." Roose Bolton's Pre-Mortem One-Liner to Robb before driving a dagger into his heart.
    • "The Book Readers send their regards." The reactions of many of the book readers is to laugh at the surprise of the T.V. crowd.
  • Jokes about playing "The Rains of Castamere" at weddings to see if people would freak out.
  • At least he's still "The King of the Northern Line!".
  • Walder Frey and Roose Bolton: The ultimate Wedding Crashers. Directed by T. Lannister.

10 — Mhysa

  • Sansa's shit/shift confusion (Sansa thought "shift" is the bad word for excrement.)
    • Substituting "shift" for "shit" in various expressions, after Sansa mistook the latter word for the former.
    • Sansa literally doesn't know shit — hinting that Sansa is a silly girl who is lost among her enemies and caught in court lies and politics.
  • When most people heard Roose Bolton call Robb Stark "Forever Young", this no doubt was what lot of people thought of.
  • The creepy smile Stannis has when he decides to go fight the White Walkers.
  • This image of Ramsay Snow has become pretty popular.
  • Fifty Shades of Greyjoy. note
  • Theon is Kunta Kinte from Roots. Kunta Kinte was Made a Slave and was flogged until he accepted the name Toby; Ramsay beats Theon until he accepts the name Reek.
  • Jokes about Theon having a "Dick in a Box".
  • Winter may be coming, but... Theon Greyjoy won't be.
  • Ramsay Snow trolls the Evil Queen.
  • "Any man who must say he is [X] is no true [X]," inspired by Tywin Lannister's burn to Joffrey's "I am the King" raging fit — "Any man who must say he is the King is no true King." As shown here. It's even been used to disparage Donald Trump.
  • The scene where the freed slaves surround and reach out towards Daenerys Targaryen while calling her "Mhysa" has been used in mocking the Mighty Whitey trope.

    Season 4
1 — Two Swords
  • Sandor and chickens:
    • After airing of the episode with the scene where Sandor Clegane demanded to eat Polliver's chicken, the community exploded with jokes about Sandor's love for it. It's gone so far some fans have even shipped the two!
    • Fans have jokingly called him "Colonel Sandors" in reference to "Colonel Sanders", the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
    • Reached critical mass after KFC's "Hold the Door" commercial. People have been clamoring for a Hound KFC commercial.
Hound: I understand that if any more words come pouring out your mouth, I'm gonna have to eat every chicken in this room."
Cashier: You lived your life for the king. You gonna dine on some chickens?
      Hound: Someone is.
  • Lots of people [do X]. Lots of cuntsnote

2 — The Lion and the Rose

  • Joffrey gets all choked up at weddings. And choking puns in general.
  • Although the Rains of Castamere popularized "The Rains of Castamere" being the song that plays when bad stuff is about to go down, this episode solidified the song as the song signalling that someone's about to die with Sigur Ros's appearance in the episode and singing the song.
  • Several memes based on Bronn's earlier comment, "There's no cure for being a cunt.", about Joffrey:
    • Olenna Redwyne becoming known as the "Cuntslayer"; as it was she who poisoned Joffrey.
    • There is a cure for being a cunt.
  • Jokes about Stannis Baratheon's usurpers to his throne dropping off one by one followed hilariously enough by Balon Greyjoy being the last one left.
  • Melisandre's non-reaction while chewing food during Stannis and Selyse's fight at the dinner table.
  • A still of the Jaime running into the scene when Joffrey is choking has birthed several memes. One of the more popular examples being with Margaery announcing the pigeon pie is being brought in and Jaime rushing for some ("Fuck yeah, pie!"). Alternatively, when Bronn informs him the area they're practicing sword fighting in is so secret that he has sex with a screamer here and no one hears it, it has Jaime rushing to Cersei to inform her of a new spot for them to have sex.
  • Memes regarding how Tommen Baratheon has just been "promoted" to king along with stills of him smiling smugly.
  • Ponderings on just how George R.R. Martin's own wedding experiences have been...
  • There are reaction videos for this episode's Purple Wedding. Naturally, the latter videos are pretty much the exact opposite of the Red Wedding ones.

3 — Breaker of Chains

  • "There are two things that Jaime Lannister has thrown out a window. 1: Young children. 2: His character development." note
  • The first three episodes are summed up by the following quote.
Episode 1, fuck the king. Episode 2, the king's fucked. Episode 3, fuck next to the king.
  • Joffrey is a Dick in a Box.note
  • Davos Seaworth's comment "Well if you're a famous smuggler, you're not doing it right" has become this, often clashed with an image of Han Solo (a very famous smuggler) taking offense or wishing to challenge that remark. What's hilarious is that Davos is right — Han's only known smuggling run ended up with him attracting an Imperial patrol, jettisoning some very valuable cargo, and then getting a bounty placed on his head by his irate employer.

4 — Oathkeeper

  • After his appearance, Ser Pounce has risen to such Memetic Badass levels that many believe he is simply biding his time to rule on the Iron Throne. Fear the great Ser Pounce!
  • "I was good. I was very, very good." captioning a picture of young Diana Rigg in a fanservice-y outfit. note

5 — First of His Name

  • After his complete and utter failure at cooking a rabbit, plenty of internet users have started captioning kitchen disasters with "Podrick!". Brienne's irritated look captioned with the quote "Bro, you even squire?!" has also become popular.

6 — The Laws of Gods and Men

  • "I demand a trial by combat." (and the overall "The Reason You Suck" Speech Tyrion gives) has become a very popular image macro (and video parody). Recurring jokes about it include references to Mortal Kombat and demanding a trial by combat to settle any matter.
  • "You can do that?" note
  • After Ser Davos' successful negotiations in securing a loan from the Iron Bank, a lot of commenters have called him "The Onion of Wall Street".
  • Applying Chris Brown's "These Hoes Ain't Loyal" lyrics to Shae, a prostitute, after she falsely testified against Tyrion and Sansa during the trial over Joffrey's death, despite being their lover and friend, respectively.
  • Ramsay Snow emulates Brad Pitt.

7 — Mockingbird

  • "I will be your champion" is picking up steam as a declaration of aid to someone else, usually in a forum debate.
  • "THIS! IS! WESTEROS!" when Petyr hurls Lysa out of the Moon Door which can be compared to the famous scene in 300.
  • "She didn't fly so good! Who wants to try next?" note

8 — The Mountain and the Viper

  • Oberyn's death as The Mountain crushed his skull with bare hands:
    • A lot of reactions to episode 8 of season 4 can be summed up in two words: Audible crunch.
    • Oberyn's death was mind-blowing, crushing and other similar puns.
    • "Today is not the day I die."- Oberyn Martell, the day he died.
  • Sport metaphors:
    • During the 2014 football World Cup, the Netherlands bounced back from an impending 0-1 loss against Mexico, going on to score two goals and win the game within the final fifteen minutes. Comparisons with Gregor Clegane brutally killing Oberyn Martell after being apparently defeated appeared within minutes of the match's end.
    • Comparisons were made after Superbowl XLIX when a last-second interception in the end zone secured the victory for the Patriots. GRRM, a football fan, hates the Pats and their coach Bill Belichick.
  • George R.R. Martin as a stand-in for cousin Orson Lannister, smashing beloved characters while making "Khun Khun Khun" noises. A nod to a scene when Jaime and Tyrion talked about their cousin kept smashing beetles.
  • Ramsay and Roose Bolton's scene discussing their territory in the North, which is often compared to the scene in The Lion King (1994) where Mufasa tells Simba that "everything that the sun touches is our kingdom".
  • After Sansa's Evil Costume Switch, comparisons between her and Black Swan's Nina Sayers, Grease's Sandy Olsen, Angelina Jolie in Maleficent or Star Wars' Anakin Skywalker ("Darth Sansa"). Come to the Dark Side. We have lemon cakes.
  • Ellaria's horrified face of watching Oberyn brutally killed becomes the reaction picture of all the Nightmare Fuel seen in the show.

9 — The Watchers on the Wall

10 — The Children

  • Quoth the Three-Eyed Raven, Bran shall walk nevermore. From Poe's The Raven.
  • "Happy Father's Day" jokes following Tyrion murdering his father in an episode that aired on Father's Day.
  • Varys' version of Screw This, I'm Out of Here!.
  • The process may change him... again. note

    Season 5
4 — The Sons of the Harpy
  • NOBODY expects the Sparrow Inquisition!note
  • The Faith Militant has the nickname of the Faith Taliban and the Westeros Baptist Church mostly for bringing current political issues to the series instead of the more accurate-to-medieval-history post-war religious revival from which it derives.

6 — Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken

  • The Sand Snakes have become the epicenter of a lot of memes, centered around their Stupid Evil characterization, the cheesiness of their dialogue, and the poorly choreographed fight scene in "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken." Obara shouting "I am OBARA SAND!" apropos to nothing.
  • Due to her obsession with other women being pretty, comparisons between Myranda and Regina George.
    Myranda: You're like, really pretty.
    Sansa: Thank you.
Myranda: So you agree, you think you're really pretty?
  • And yet another phallic worship example in the series, with the Cock Merchant note

7 — The Gift

  • The slave auction for Jorah and Tyrion quickly inspired fans to humorous comparisons with C3PO and R2D2 and their acquisition scene.
  • David Benioff's defense of Tyrion meeting Dany: "Creatively it made sense to us because we wanted it to happen" has reached this among fans as the showrunners credo for their increasing and often unpopular deviations from the books.
  • With Ramsay, things can always get worse.

8 — Hardhome

  • Arya's "Oysters, clams and Cockleeeees!":
  • ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?note
  • Come At Me, Crownote  This is the other variation.
  • The Night's King of Pop. It has to be seen to be believed.
  • White Walkers went shopping.

9 — The Dance of Dragons

  • Ramsay's twenty good men have, due to their somewhat ludicrous (and entirely off-screen) achievement of somehow managing to destroying all the supplies of Stannis' camp, as well as sabotaging his siege weapons and running off his horses, all without facing any resistance or even being detected, become the new Chuck Norris, with people noting that they can singlehandedly defeat Dany, the Nights Watch, the White Walkers, conquer Westeros and so on ā€“ it has a Facebook page. Some fans even claim that Ramsay's only accomplice was, in fact, Ser Twenty, of House Goodmen.
  • Stannis is no longer the Mannisnote  Instead, he is 'Stannis the Anus', 'Stannis the Menace', or 'Satannis', the last one usually in reference to Stannis in the show as compared to the books. Fans who still like him call him 'Stanamegmon', lampshading his connection to the myth of Iphigenia.
  • Stannis: Father of the Year note
  • Ever since the reveal of his, erm, "predilections," Meryn Trant's been showing up everywhere stating that a female is "too old" for his tastes. Up to and including fetuses...

10 — Mother's Mercy

  • Shame! Shame! Shame! *dingdingding* Shame! Shame! Shame! *dingdingding* Shame! Shame! Shame! *dingdingding* note
  • Caesared note
  • "Et tu, Olly?" note
  • Balon Greyjoy won the War of Five Kings note
  • "These Crows Aren't Loyal" once the Night's Watch stabbed their leader, Jon Snow.
  • Get Reekt! A variation of get rekt inspired by the scene where Theon/Reek kills Myranda and escapes with Sansa.
  • "Bad pussy"/"Bad poosey" note
  • Dorne reimagined as a sitcom.

    Season 6
1 — The Red Woman

2 — Home

  • "That's what I do: I drink and I know things." Tyrion's one-liner was repeated often with image macros, it appeared on many captions, T-shirts, cups tec.
  • The revelation that Hodor's real name is Wyllis, and that there was a time when he could talk normally, has inevitably lead to memes of "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" from Diff'rent Strokes.
  • The fact that Jon Snow's resurrection involves Melisandre giving him a crew cut and then burning the hair has led to many jokes comparing his resurrection to a spa session or a visit to the barber. Likewise, the fact that Kit Harington's contractually obligated to maintain his hair has led more than a few to note that Jon Snow's first thought on coming back to life is "Who cut my hair!?"
  • Taking Ramsay's claim that Roose Bolton was "poisoned by his enemies" at face value, and even expressing sympathy for Ramsay for the tragic loss of his father.

3 — Oathbreaker

  • The exchange between Ned and Arthur Dayne ("Now it begins." "No, now it ends.") seems to have gained popularity as a one-liner.
  • "Ned Patrick Harris" or some variation thereof as a nickname for young Ned, as his actor (Robert Aramayo) has quite a bit of uncanny resemblance to Neil Patrick Harris.
  • Smalljon Umber's gleeful, "YOUR FATHER WAS A CUNT!" has been wholeheartedly embraced as the words of House Umber.
  • Hanging puns, often with a close-up of Olly's face after getting hung.

5 — The Door

  • The phrase, "Hold the door!" has already become memetic in inducing sadness and hopelessness to fans of the show even in the most mundane contexts after Hodor's Heroic Sacrifice and the reveal of how it relates to the origins of his name.
  • "Hodor had one job, and he did it."note
  • Comparisons between Euron Greyjoy and Donald Trump are increasingly popular following Euron's upset victory at the Kingsmoot. Keep in mind this meme started with Trump's upset victory to win the nomination, months before the actual election.

6 — Blood of my Blood

  • MACE THE ACE has become popular after the fan theory that Mace Tyrell is a genius in disguise, pretending to be stupid so that his enemies underestimate him and leave him alone. Principally this basically involves doing what his mother Olenna tells him to instead of whatever he wants because he knows she's smart. Evidence in his favor: every great lord of Westeros except for him is dead.

To elaborate: At the beginning of the series, the eight Great Houses are Stark, Tully, Arryn, Greyjoy, Lannister, Baratheon, Tyrell, and Martell. With the deaths of Jon Arryn, Robert Baratheon (and later Stannis), Eddard Stark (and later Robb), Hoster Tully, Tywin Lannister, Doran Martell (and later Trystane), and Balon Greyjoy, the only head of a Great House who is still growing strong is Mace Tyrellnote
  • Who the hell is Magnus?! note
  • Mace of House Eorl. Mace Tyrell's Rousing Speech mixed with soundtrack from LOTR ("Ride of the Rohirrimļ»æ"; Eorl the Young was the Lord of the ƉothĆ©od and the first King of Rohan. He founded of the House of Eorl.)
  • Wololo!note

7 — The Broken Man

  • Lyanna Mormont. She may hold the record among the show's characters for number of memes generated per minute of screen time. note
    • She became quite popular for taking no shit from anybody, in spite of being a ten-year-old girl.
    • Within a day of the episode airing, people were already joking about how if she had 3 dragons, the show would have been over 3 seasons ago.
    • Her agreeing to give 62 soldiers to the Starks' cause. spawned comparisons to 300. Or for that matter, the 62 are actual bears.
  • Davos has been renamed 'Dadvos', thanks to his habit of becoming Team Dad to any kid he comes across along the way, and some of the "adults" to boot. See here.

8 — No One

  • Arya is chased by a Terminator.
  • Dany's return to Meereen, as imagined by the fans.
    Dany: You three. Explain. Now.
    Grey Worm: Tyrion did it.
    Missandei: Tyrion did it.
    Tyrion: Tyrion did it. Dammit!
  • Tommen is disparagingly dubbed "the Hypeslayer" after he outlaws Trial by Combat, which seemingly rules out any possibility of the much-anticipated CLEGANEBOWLnote  becoming a reality. note

9 — Battle of the Bastards

  • This episode is nicknamed as Bastardbowl. Or Snowbowl. note
  • Who let the dogs out? Sansa did. note
  • Lyanna Mormont's Death Glare. Often done as reaction shots or template for captions.
  • Continuing Lyanna Memetic Badass run, there are jokes about her soldiers: No one even remotely accepts the possibility that even one of her 62 soldiers died in battle.
  • Within a few hours of the episode airing people have already begun making jokes about Littlefinger and the Knights of the Vale as the Riders of Rohan arriving to save Jon's army.
  • Just like the scene where Tyrion slaps Joffrey, it didn't take long for fans to start making "extended cuts" of Jon Snow's extremely cathartic No-Holds-Barred Beatdown of Ramsay Bolton.
  • Rickon didn't watch Apocalypto. ZIGZAG, RICKON, ZIGZAG! Some even composite this with Lyanna Mormont's Death Glare. Another variation is, "He's dead to me, he should have zigzagged."
  • Contrasting Hodor heroically holding the door with Wun Wun heroically opening it. note
  • The X-Men pledge their support to House Stark. Explanation
  • Ramsay's OhCrap face.
  • Game of Thrones meets Total Recall (1990).

10 — The Winds of Winter

  • Tommen's suicide by jumping from a window:
    • People comparing the way he chose death with another memetic, similarly shot scene from British sitcom The IT Crowd. GIFs appeared within five minutes of the event and it's likely to be used in the same way.
    • He sure made a King's Landing.
    • Tommen kills himself. Immediately gains nickname Kingslayer.
  • Comparing Sam's reaction to the Citadel library with Belle's reaction to the Beast's library.
  • R+L=J CONFIRMED!!!Explanation
  • Long May She Reign! Cersei, the Mad Queen supreme, declaring herself the rightful Queen.
  • DAKINGINDANORF!! DA KING IN DA NORF. Referencing Jon's awesome moment of being declared the King in the North.
  • Lyanna Mormont is the real MVP. note
  • Lyanna Mormont being a genius campaign manager, including to current US presidential hopefuls.
  • Wildfire can't melt stone pillars!Explanation
    • The Sept was an inside job!
  • In an epic Call-Back, before the wildfire ignited, Lance Lannister finally realized there was no such thing as a "breastplate stretcher" (which he was asked to get by king Robert because he was too fat for his armour).
  • The Dragon Age II fandom had a brilliant time discussing how Cersei had taken a page out of Anders' book. Explanation
  • After the reveal that Arya had mastered the Faceless Men's ability to change her appearance, many fans immediately started looking forward to spending the remainder of the show saying that any random background character must be her.
  • Cersei channels Roddy Piper. "I'm here to love my children and blow shit up. And I'm all out of children." In this episode, Cersei committed mass murder by blowing up a sept and destroying a part of the city and her last living child killed himself.
  • Too bad the show ended here. Explanation

    Season 7
1 — Dragonstone
  • Ed Sheeran's cameo as a Nice Guy Lannister soldier:
    • Arya can find a singing Ed Sheeran in the forest but not Gendry.
    • "When your legs don't work like they used to before...", coupled with pictures of Bran Stark who can't walk since season 1. The line is from Ed Sheeran's song "Thinking Out Loud".
  • Sam's not so glorious life at the Citadel. If the finale of Season 6 had him compared to Belle, then the beginning of the seventh season has him compared to Cinderella.
  • "Euron Greyjoy looks like..." due to Euron's new look of leather jacket, v-neck, and biker mustache, usually implying some kind of sleazy loser. Ex: "Euron Greyjoy looks like a guy whose cell phone is still on the plan of a girl he broke up with six months ago."

2 — Stormborn

  • Euron's dynamic entry on the top of his Boarding Party complete with maniacal grin has been compared to a WWE Dynamic Entry.
  • Sam's treatment of Jorah, which consists of more or less flaying the infected parts of his skin has led more than one to remark "Where's a Bolton when you need one", and that the Boltons had potential to be good Maesters.

3 — Queen's Justice

  • Bran's omniscience:
    • Bran's completely nonchalant way of describing Sansa's traumatizing wedding night has led to memes and jokes of Bran talking about other characters' traumatic moments and then focusing solely on the weather and their pretty appearances.
Bran: I saw you [fill in the blank]. You were so beautiful.
    • Now that Bran is the Three-Eyed Raven who knows everything, people joke that he knows (and should reveal to us) those little mysteries, like what exactly happened to Tyrion with the Noodle Implements of a jackass and honeycomb in the brothel, or what exactly Pod did to those whores who liked his performance so much that they did not accept the money.
    • Jokes that Bran Stark knows everything while his half-brother/cousin Jon Snow knows nothing.
    • Due to Bran's indifferent attitude and him knowing everything everyone has ever said, it led to jokes that Bran has been binge-watching previous seasons and has already watched this one.
  • Jon meets Daenerys, Cool versus Awesome intensified, and then falls somewhat flat:
    • The situation when Missandei once again recites Daenerys' extremely long list of titles to Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth. Davos introduces Jon with a succinct, "This is Jon Snow," (beat) "He's King in the North." This inspired attempts to present Jon in the same style as Daenerys: This is Jon Snow, the Bastard of Winterfell, the White Wolf, the Comrade of the Direwolf, the Slayer of the White Walker and the Slayer of the Dead, 998th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, the Climber of the Wall, the Ice Survivor, the Champion of the Free Folk, the Resurrected, He Who Knows Nothing, King in the North. (There are countless variations and new titles.)
    • Davos, Jon's unofficial Hand of the King, it the best dude to introduce people: "This is Jon Snow." — (missing a beat and thinking quickly "Shit, this is not enough.") — "He's King in the North." — ("Yeah, that's it.") — Moments later: "He's a damn bastard!"
    • Webcomic recap here.
    • First impressions. The awkward meeting of Jon and Daenerys multiplied to awesome levels.
  • Jon Snow is a right proper lad. note
  • Playing on the fan theory that Jon and Daenerys will end up together, people joked about Daenerys misunderstanding Jon's request for obsidian. She misheard dragonglass as dragon-ass.
  • Olenna the Savage.Explanation
  • "Tell [person]. I want [him/her/them] to know it was me."Explanation
  • "A finger in the bum!" Euron's suggested sex move for when he marries Cersei was such a Refuge in Audacity and so hammily delivered that many fans consider it Euron's Catchphrase. It's hard to find a Euron clip on YouTube without at least one user posting it, and it's lead to jokes that Euron can defeat anybody (including Drogon and the Night King) simply by sticking his finger in their bums.

4 — The Spoils of War

  • The prehistoric cave drawings made by the Children of the Forest in Dragonstone — it's joked that they were actually drawn by Jon and/or Davos to convince Dany of the White Walkers. The White Walker drawings, in particular, are not in the same style as the rest and look as if they'd be too recent and figurative looking to fit the particular aesthetic effect.
  • The Curb-Stomp Battle delivered by Dany's Dothraki horde has led to many a fan quoting Robert Baratheon: "Only a fool would meet the Dothraki in an open field."
  • Ko Qhono, the Dothraki bloodrider next to Tyrion who mocks the Lannister army, "Your people can't fight" is quite popular, both for the hilariously smug response and for the fact that it's snidely mocking soldiers for not fighting a dragon. Many note that it could have been prefigured by a Nelson Muntz style "Haw-haw".
  • "Smile, you son of a bitch!"Explanation
  • Dany's insistence that Jon bend the knee inspired a knock-knock joke or a phone prank: A phone rings in Winterfell. "Hello, who's this?" — "Ben." — "Ben who?" — "Ben D. Knee!" (hangs up). See it here with pictures.
  • Many fans have taken to using Tyrion's (unheard) plea to Jaime — "Flee, you idiot!" — and applying it to many other situations both in this episode and earlier ones whenever it seems as though a character is about to do something stupid and/or dangerous. Often accompanied with the following line, "You fucking idiot," when the character proceeds to do said stupid/dangerous thing anyway.
  • Jaime has gotten the Leeroy Jenkins treatment for his charge on Dany and Drogon, with some fans dubbing him "Ser Leeroy of House Jenkins." A parody video went up quickly after the episode aired.
  • The two idiotic Stark guards in Winterfell that allow Arya to slip by them are often associated with HBO online security in light of the hacking incident that took place around the time the season was airing which saw Episodes 4 and 6 being leaked before their official release.

5 — Eastwatch

  • Jon's Dream Team who go beyond the Wall being compared to other famous Badass Crews/Rag Tag Bunches of Misfits:
  • Ascended Meme and Fandom Nod as to what the hell Gendry was doing since he was last seen in season 3. Consensus was that he was still rowing in the boat. When Davos finds him in Fleabottom, he says: "Thought you might still be rowing."
  • Rhaegar's incredibly dickish annulment of his wife Elia and marrying Lyanna in Dorne has led to jokes about how a modern version would go, with most noting that Rhaegar 2017 would send a text message to Elia about their divorce and never see her again, or likewise pretend she doesn't exist, "New raven, who's this?"
  • Davos' awesome advertisement of fermented crab led to a joke that fermented crab will put Viagra and Cialis out of business.

6 — Beyond the Wall

  • The episode earned a lot of comparisons to the Olympics since we see Gendry sprint-running in the withering cold to the Wall, Sandor throwing a shot put, and the Night King performing Javelin throwing skills to take down Viserion — earning a gold, nay platinum medal. We also see Jon Snow "diving" into freezing waters under the ice and surviving, while the scene where the crew march across the ice is about as close as you can get to figure skating. And even before Theon and diving, Jaime and swimming (more like sinking).
  • Jokes about how Gendry is motivating himself to run by reminding himself that snow is water and he's rowing with his legs, in a call back to his seasons spent in a boat.
  • The Rule of Drama gods have decreed that Benjen's horse will be like Titanic's floating door: one-passenger only.
  • "Now I have a dragon, ho-ho-ho" note
  • Several Yu-Gi-Oh! jokes emerged regarding the Night King getting a Blue-Eyes White Dragon or alternatively Blue-Eyes Wight Dragon.
  • A girl has a shitty memory. Faceless men referred to Arya as a girl. In this episode, Arya is a dick to Sansa and twists the description of how her sister Sansa behaved during their father's execution.
  • Who is the Chanel of Dragonstone? In response to Daenerys' rather fabulous winter dress. Comparisons with Queen Elsa of Arendelle were also not far behind.
  • How did Jon know he could call Daenerys Dany? Because all he heard from her was bend da knee, bend da knee — ben da knee — ben da nee — ben danee — b danee — danee — dany — Dany!
  • The wight that Sandor hits with a rock, nicknamed "Dumb Cunt", has become a sort of Memetic Badass for Team White Walker after being the first wight to figure out that the lake had refrozen, getting back up after getting his ribcage and his skull smashed in by Sandor's hammer, and then getting back up again after being knocked into the lake and nearly killing Tormund. We never see him die on-screen, so fans are holding out hope that he survived Daenerys's dragon attack.

7 — The Dragon and the Wolf

  • #Boatsex! Explanation
    • Tyrion withdraws coolly a la JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.Explanation
    • Jokes claiming that Jon and Daenerys got it on because they ate Davos' fermented crab aphrodisiac.
    • Emilia Clarke's reaction.
    • Jon Snow being an honorary member of The Lonely Island.Explanation
    • Bent the knee.Explanation
    • Jokes about Jon forgeting/mixing up his objectives, so instead of "Bent the knee" and "get that dragon glass" it became "bend Dany" and "get that dragon ass".
  • Cleganebowl is coming and/or returning! Explanation
  • Littlefinger's trial and death:
  • Qyburn's fascination with the Wight's hand. It's either used to joke about how Jaime could use that hand or Gregor Clegane no longer being Qyburn's main point of interest.
  • The Hound kicking over the crate containing the Wight...only for Season 5 Tyrion to fall out, much to everyone's, including Tyrion, shock.
  • Rhaegar may be Jon's father, but he ain't his daddy (Ned).

    Season 8
1 — Winterfell
  • Half the scenes in the first episode end with someone noticing that Bran is watching them, solidifying his title of "Bran the Voyeur".
  • Bran's Meaningful Looks are called Soul-crushing Stares.
  • Bran's being petty enough to wait outside in the cold just so he could make Jaime uncomfortable when he arrived.
  • Cersei & Elephants:
    • Cersei loving elephants, due to her obvious disappointment when Lord Strickland didn't bring any of the Golden Company's elephants to Westeros.
    • "Where's my elephant?! Where's my elephant?!"note
    • The explanation being that the CGI team ran out of money after doing the Great Battle of Winterfell.
  • Jokes comparing Winterfell's hostility to the Dothraki and Unsullied to real-life racism. Many compared their arrival to the "nigger on a horse" scene from Django Unchained.
  • As the example of Robb's baby above, it is joked that Ned Umber died solely because of he had Sean Bean's name. Eddard Morghulis All Neds must die!
  • Jon being a Reluctant Ruler gets some memetic escalation; every time he quits from his title he gets another, even more prestigious one.

2 — A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

  • Arya's scene with Gendry, "EpicForgeSex".
    • Following Arya and Gendry's hook up, Arya's face stealing has lead to fans forming a lot of Power Perversion Potential scenarios.
    • Quoting Robert Baratheon's Season 1 line to Ned Stark when he proposed to marry Joffrey to Sansa, ā€œI have a son, you have a daughter. Weā€™ll join our houses.ā€ This was used to apply to Gendry and Arya's aforementioned sex scene.
    • Having someone (Gendry himself in a few variations) say that with Gendry being Robertā€™s son, and Arya resembling her aunt Lyanna, Gendry was able to do what his dad wished he could have done: have sex with a Stark.
    • Arya adding Gendry's three previous lovers to her list.
    • People realizing what was about to happen because/when Arya started taking her gloves off.
    • Random soldier: "Hey, Gendry, who did you bang?" — Gendry: "No one." (Meme referring to Arya aka 'Girl' aka 'No One'.)
  • Podrick's epic performance of "Jenny of Oldstones" has led to many people noting (some only half-comedically) that the show has now finally explained whatever it was Pod did for those prostitutes.
  • Pointing out what a bad idea it is to hide all the civilians in the crypts when the enemy can raise the dead.
  • Daenerys' expression while talking to Sansa, known as Daenerys Targaryen Squint or Smiling Daenerys. Dany squint smiles at Sansa Stark during a tense conversation, and people find it weirdly relatable and useful for describing their face in so many contexts.
  • "The big woman still here?" Tormund immediately being smitten with Brienne back in season 6 was already the source of many jokes and memes, but this line is perhaps the most well-known. Any time a piece of media features a Statuesque Stunner, expect this line to pop up online.

3 — The Long Night

  • Because she's absent in this episode and previous one, fans joke about Cersei (and by extension, Euron) relaxing in King's Landing while all everybody who is in the North are fighting for their lives.
  • Sports memes have emerged after the episode:
    • "The Night King blew a 28-3 lead!" (Alluding to the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons).
    • Pics with captions of "I gotta admit, they had us in the first half".
    • End game/season statistics (e.g. MVP [most valuable player] = Arya, Defensive Player of the Game = Theon, Grey Worm, Beric, or Jorah, Rookie of the Year = Lyanna Mormont, Most Improved = Theon, Melisandre, Daenerys, or Podrick, Sixth Man = Melisandre, etc.).
    • Air Jordan logos being replaced with Arya's sneak attack stance.
    • Michael Jordan's infamous crying meme being edited into the Night King's face.
    • A video where Arya killing the Night King is superimposed over game footage on a TV in a bar, with mass celebration ensuing.
    • Arya's face being edited into NBA players making winning buzzer beaters.
  • Many complaints and jokes about the greatest, most important battle for the living taking place at night and that nobody can see shit. It's not like viewers were not warned: Season 2 — the night is dark and full of terrors. Season 8 — the night really IS dark. Nobody should have been that surprised. Credit where credit is due: Lord of Light provides lighting. His high priestess has a piece of advice.
  • Ungrateful fans: End of the second episode — we are worried so many characters will die. End of the third episode — we are disappointed so few characters died. Difference between season 1 and season 8. note
  • Another meme about the duo of the Stark Brothers: Jon knows nothing and does nothing. Bran knows everything & does nothing. note
  • Fans have taken to superimposing the dragons play-fighting as babies over the Dance of the Dragons, where Drogon and Rhaegal face off against their undead brother Viserion in a very serious battle to the death.
  • Why does Bran warg as humanity faces the annihilation? He goes to watch Avengers: Endgame. note  See here or here.
  • Another name origin explained: Hodor held the door. Beric did the Beric-ade. Meme honouring Beric's Heroic Sacrifice to save Arya and Sandor Clagane the Hound from the wights. He blocked the door to give them enough time to retreat. note
  • Jorah Mormont died the way he lived: being a good friend to his Queen. explanation
  • Arya's Kill:
    • Arya is GOAT. Greatest.Of.All.Time. Coupled with pictures and macros of Arya with actual goats and gifs of goats making a giant leap.
    • Arya joins the Kingslayers' Club. Most famous Kingslayer is Jaime Lannister, but there is also the boar who did Robert in, the Shadow monster who killed Renley, Roose Bolton who murdered Robb Stark, Olenna who poisoned Joffrey, Tommen who killed himself, etc. So many kings, so many Kingslayers... Arya's got the greatest kill: She offed the Night King, an Ice Zombie overlord whose ultimate goal was to destroy humanity and life.
    • Only Gendry saw Arya coming... note
    • Gendry's dick being the source of power due to Arya's impressive showing this episode.
    • Arya killing the Night King plays out so much like Ɖowyn killing the Witch-king of Angmar that this exchange would not have been out of place.
Night King: (holds Arya by the throat) Fool! No one can kill me! Die now!
Arya: (drops knife to her other hand) A girl IS no one! *STAB*
    • Figures it was Arya who slayed the Night King: she did train to fight in the dark. note
    • That still only counts as one! Explanation
  • Subverting expectations. note
  • The revelation that the Night King is not the ultimate boss does not sit well with most viewers, but Tywin Explains It All.
  • The Night King no selling Dany's dragonfire and then smirking has become a popular template for image labeling memes.
  • "X did Y, causing Arya to become a super assassin. X is Azor Ahai."note
    • Azor ApieExplanation
  • Night King did nothing wrong. Explanation
  • Melisandre saw the ending Explanation
  • Winter is coming... aaaaand it's gone Explanation

4 — The Last of the Starks

    • A Starbucks Cup of Westeros note
    • The North remembers Explanation

  • "Who got shot down the hardest?"note
  • "Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet" and "[X] kinda forgot about [Y]" note
  • Sansa is not her father's girl note
  • Hypocritical Grey Worm note
  • One Knight Stand. note
  • This image of Varys looking like he's about to puke has seen wide use as a reaction image.
  • The idea that Qyburn can build any manner of outlandish technology if given the time. Examples can be seen here and here.note
  • "First Time?" note
  • Euron: The Bowmaster of King's Landing & Things Euron "Just Sort of Forgot About" note
  • Guys, relax, Jaime's obviously going back to kill Cersei Explanation
  • "Look how they massacred my boy." Referencing The Godfather, and Don Corleone's reaction to Sonny's corpse. Rose to prominence from fans of Jaime Lannister after Jaime completely abandoned all remaining hints of character development to turn his back on Brienne and run back to Cersei's side at the end of the episode. Was pretty much picked up by all the fans, even the holdouts who believed Jaime was going back to kill Cersei after his lackluster demise in episode 5.
    • Also spawned an in-series meme. A shot of Jaime pushing child Bran out the window from episode 1 of the first season. Written over Bran's face is "Jaime's character development." The caption reads, "The things I do for shock."
    • Also applied to Euron Greyjoy who might as well have been a completely different character, going from a terrifying, intellectual, charismatic, pure evil Sorcerous Overlord with unbridled ambitions of godhood and the ushering in of the apocalypse, to a sex-crazed wise-cracking pirate content with bedding Queen Cersei who feels more ripped out of Pirates of the Caribbean than a Lovecraftian horror story. Fans were quick to mock how short the series version came up to his monstrous book counterpart.

5 — The Bells

  • Daenerys' actions in the episode almost immediately earned her the title BBQueen. She torched to the city of King's Landing to the ground with dragon fire, even though Cersei's soldiers yielded.
  • "Sansa Was Right" or "Sansa Told Them So". note
  • "No one ever listens to Varys".note
  • "The leprechaun tells me to burn everything"note
  • Daenerys nearly did the one thing the Night King failed to do: Kill Arya Stark.
  • Some have compared Daenerys' destruction of King's Landing to "Let It Go" from Frozen (2013), "but with fire and more murder".
  • Episode 4: Improbable Aiming Skills. Episode 5: Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy. Explanation
  • An edit of Daenerys immolating King's Landing and the peasants is intercut with scenes of Bastian riding Falkor in The Neverending Story.
  • CLEGANEBOWL finally happening in this episode, with fans commenting that this was the epic showdown they were waiting for (compared to the Night King's takedown) or referring to previous "Cleganebowl hype" videos. There are also jokes about Qyburn actual cause of death was "trying to stop the hype". Jokes that Clegane does not give up his revenge... for the hype.
  • Jaime Lannister Is Alive Clown Club note
  • "Jaime's story is well-rounded" note
  • "To be honest, I never really cared about X" note
  • Who killed Jaime Lannister? In a rather literal Brick Joke, it's a brick. Or bricks. Done with macros of Euron who boasted it was him, contrasted with a picture of a brick, or with pictures of Olenna Tyrell with a brick for her face with the caption, "Tell Cersei/Euron it was me. I want him/her to know" (in a call back to her confession to Jaime that it was her who killed Joffrey).
  • "Mommy, why did you name me after a homicidal dragon queen?" note
  • You had one job, Golden Company! Explanation
  • 20,000 men and 2000 horses Explanation
  • Foreshadowing is not Character Development note
  • Brick Joke meme of Cersei's obsession with elephants: She had it all figured out. Cue pictures of giant elephants using their trunks to extinguish burning houses. Or Cersei 'surviving' the collapse of the roof, becoming Mother of Elephants in the process, even saying the same speech Daenerys did in "Fire and Blood".
  • There have been several videos put together of Daenerys and her army destroying King's Landing to Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
  • In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen! Explanation
  • You were the Chosen One! Explanation
  • "Look how they massacred my boy." Referening The Godfather, and Don Corleone's reaction to Sonny's corpse. After being used in episode 4 in response to Jaime's actions in abandoning Brienne, it also was reused in reference to Jaime for the fifth episode, (complete with an image of Don Corleone himself with the line caption) while referencing Jaime's line in season 3 ("Tell me, if your precious Renly commanded you to kill your own father and stand by while thousands of men, women, and children were burned alive, would you have done it?") with his line to Tyrion in this episode ("To be honest, I never much cared for them, innocent or otherwise.")

6— The Iron Throne

  • Jokes about the Unsullied and the Dothraki at the back not hearing about Daenerys's New Era Speech became widespread after moments of the episode's airing.
  • Her Satanic Majesty note
  • Brienne writing note
  • Let the ink dry! note

  • After Bran becomes King, some people joked that Jaime's attempt to murder Bran in the first episode was a pre-emptive act of king slaying.
  • Bran is the younger and more beautiful queen that the prophecy to Cersei was talking about.
  • Bran the Broken Cock note
  • Bran the Wheely Wheely Legs No Feely note

    General
  • Don't get too attached. note
    J. K. Rowling: "It's hard killing off so many characters."
George R. R. Martin: "You're adorable." / "Oh my sweet summer child..."
  • George R.R. Martin as the most infamous serial killer in all of fiction. Later it led to jokes about Martin committing suicide, by killing off the most unexpected character of all: himself. Another variation of this meme is this joke: "Why doesn't George R.R. Martin use Twitter? Because he killed off all 280 characters."
  • "#TeamWhiteWalker" note
  • Parodying the show's famous opening title sequence is infinitely popular for other famous franchises. The Simpsons even made their own for a Couch Gag.
  • The apparent lack of Rickon Stark. It's become a running joke amongst the fanbase to wager guesses where the heck the kid runs off to or what the hell he's doing when he's not around. The meme died off when Rickon had a larger role in Season 3.
  • Hodor! Odor by Hodor. The new fragrance for men.
  • "These are my dragons, Drogon, Not-Drogon #1 and Not-Drogon #2"Explanation Later Drogon, Zombie Not-Drogon, and Not-Zombie Not-DrogonExplanation
  • Hodor's PokĆ©mon Speak. Hodor hodor? (It's basically gotten to the point that on any GOT related thread, somebody will post something along these lines, occasionally taking it to the logical extreme by having a post entirely consisting of "Hodor".)
  • Ned's obsession with honor has been pretty big around Tumblr.
  • Sansa, the young teenage and somewhat naive girl, has it tough. In some Spanish and Portuguese speaking online communities, Sansa Stark is called "Sonsa" Stark. 'Sonsa' means dumb or naive in Spanish and Portuguese. On at least one Chinese forum, Sansa is sometimes referred to as "San Sha" (San being "three/thrice", Sha being "silly").
  • Whenever someone lists the entire Stark family line, they make sure to add Tony, (and even a Stark Jegan) at the end. In addition, Jon Snow sometimes gets the My Friends... and Zoidberg treatment in these lists. Naturally leads to a story where Tony is a cousin of the main Stark line.
  • "You Know Nothing, Jon Snow". note
  • Variation of "You know nothing, Jon Snow": After giving the Lord's Kiss to Ygritte, "You Know ONE Thing, Jon Snow."
  • Almost mix-and-match variations with Jon Snow and Bran Stark who became the omniscient Three-Eyed Raven demi-god — Jon Snow: knows Nothing. Does Everything. Bran: Knows Everything. Does Nothing. Alternatively, in memes for the episode The Long Night, Jon knows nothing and does nothing.note
  • Barristan is strong because he's General Dodonna. Both roles are courtesy of Ian McElhinney.
  • Images of the Iron Throne with another character photoshopped to be sitting on it or drawings of such. Heroes, villains, celebrities, politicians, you name it; it's been done. It's just that iconic an image for Ambition Is Evil.
  • "You're/you must be Ned Stark's bastard." note
  • Daenerys' obsession with her long list of titles and epithets lead to several memes: people attempt to make her list even longer (like 'breaker of chains' and 'maker of chains' after she restrains her dragons in the pyramid). Or people comprise lists for other characters, e.g. "Lord Tyrion of House Lannister, The Imp, Spymaster of King's Landing, Rightful Heir of Casterly Rock (later Lord of Casterly Rock), son of Lord Tywin of House Lannister, Half Man to the Hill Tribes, victor of the Eyrie trial by combat, Hand of the King to Lord Joffery of House Baratheon, Master of Coin, Kingslayer of Joffrey of House Baratheon, Kinslayer to Tywin and Joanna Lannister, Hand of the Queen Daenerys of House Targaryen, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons, and the God Emperor of the Seven Kingdoms and Warden of all the Realms of, 'I Don't Give A Shit'."
  • Jon Snow is a hipster.
  • Slow Loras Tyrell. note
  • Jorah Mormont, a Dogged Nice Guy to Khaleesi/Queen Daenerys:
    • He's called "King of the Friendzone" or Lord Friendzone.
    • Season 3 had a number of compilations in response to Daenerys hopefully asking about Daario Naharis' fate during the midnight raid of the city, with the most notable coupling it with Bart telling Lisa that "you can actually pinpoint the second his heart rips in half".
    • After his exile in Season 4 by Dany who furiously rebukes him and cuts all ties with him, many smartasses are now piping up with "At least he's not in the Friendzone anymore" type comments.
    • Jorah the Explorer (like Dora the Explorer): Explored the Friendzone to the fullest.note
  • Hi this is [insert character name] and this is Jackassnote
  • On forums people who make speculations based purely on the show without knowledge of the book events are often affectionately called "Unsullied". If they make a particularly optimistic prediction, the response is usually along the lines of "Oh sweet Summer child..."
  • Fans who still love the series after the divisive final seasons sometimes refer to themselves as "The Unbroken", in reference to House Martell's motto.
  • "Doesn't Matter Had Sex" note
  • "Classic Roose". Whenever Roose Bolton trolls someone. Alternatively, "The Roose is loose".
  • "House Trollton strikes again!" whenever Roose or Ramsay Boltons troll someone.
  • "One does not simply make a meme about Game of Thrones without watching the show." Snowclone of "One does not simply X", which is made from a memorable quote from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring "One does not simply walk into Mordor". It helps that Boromir who says the line in the film is played by this show's very own Sean Bean who portrays Ned Stark.
  • "Actually, in the books..." A frequent refrain among book-readers and even GRRM himself.
  • Comments to the effect that Westeros has "only two songs" (in reference to the show's emphasis on/multiple versions played of "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" and "The Rains of Castamere", including the fact that both songs supply episode titles). As of "The Mountain and the Viper", where those are the only two songs mentioned in the brothel's belching contest, it's bordering on Ascended Meme. In Season 7, Arya comes across a group of Lannister soldiers singing a song.note  She quips she's never heard it before, and they reply it's a new one. Definitely an Ascended Meme.
  • Arya is Badass. note
  • After The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, people started making edits about Daenerys nagging Smaug.note
  • Joffrey is the Fantasy Counterpart to Justin Bieber: blond, young, famous and utterly hated. Even Sophie Turner (Sansa) has made the comparison.
  • "These Hoes Ain't Loyal" applies to Ellaria and the Sand Snakes in Season 5, where they constantly disobey Prince Doran and eventually kill him and his son in Season 6.
  • Brienne of Darth (Gwendoline Christie has been cast in Star Wars Episode VII.)
  • Once you go black, you never go back.
  • "Shut up Bran, this isn't in the books!" (and similar phrases): A joke claiming that Jojen only knows the future because he reads the books. Unfortunately for him, season four is a bit Off the Rails in that regard.
  • "You've just been Littlefingered!" is another one for the all the times when Lord Baelish stabs someone in the back. Littlefinger has been Littlefingered!
  • After Queen Elizabeth II visited the set in Belfast, pictures of her eyeing the Iron Throne have become very popular.
"7 Kingdoms. How Quaint. I have 53". note
  • Anything having to do with Stannis and kneeling.
    • "Bend the knee!" Stannis's catchphrase has become memetic among his fans, especially after he completely wrecks the Wildlings and demands that Mance kneel before him.
    • "My knees are bending on their own!" Stannis fans will post this comment when he does something awesome. Or even when he just shows up.
    • "We do not kneel." Mance Rayder's stubborn response.

  • Ian McShane's response to the fans upset at him spoiling which character he would be playing: "Get a fucking life, it's just tits and dragons!" It helps that it sounds exactly like something a typical McShane character would say. Chances are, you are reading it in his voice, and adding "cocksuckers!" at the end.
