Similar to the game, the Traveling Boy, named "Will" leaves the Elda Sanctuary with his friend and fairy guide, Gallica, to search for Grius. Their goal being to find a way to save The Prince, who has fallen with a terrible curse before he dies. And with the death of King Hythlodaeus V, the future of the Kingdom of Euchronia is uncertain, due to his son missing and presumed dead by the general populace and as a result, there's no heir to the throne.
The manga, released on Jump+ and illustrated by Youichi Amano, released its first chapter on January 20th, 2025.
Tropes present in this work include:
- Adapted Out: Cercis Klinger, captain of the army, is entirely removed from the adaptation. Since Will doesn't have to enlist in the army and Stohl awakens to the Warrior Archetype when fighting Homo Butera alongside Hulkenberg. And since the party goes straight to Homo Jaluzo's nursery, there's no scene of him being eaten by the Human, let alone a reveal of him being captured.
- Adaptational Badass: Despite being a skilled member of the Shadowguard, known for his blinding speed, he's defeated by the party, due in part to him holding back and because his clones have a glaring weakness. In the manga, Heismay takes advantage of not only his speed and clones, but even the environment to easily handle the party (including Gallica). Almost as soon as he begins his attack, they're already badly injured while he does have a scratch on him. And he's still holding back. The battle only ends when the Sandworms attack and Heismay himself is defeated by Homo Butera.
- Adaptation Distillation: The manga notably cuts down on several aspects, such as removing Will joining the military and meeting Grius at the Northern Border Fort and by extension, he doesn't awaken to his Archetype until fighting Homo Avades. In fact, dungeons are pretty much entirely removed with the characters just facing the boss straightaway.
- Adaptational Early Appearance: At the start of the game, when the caravan the Travelling Boy was riding in is attacked by bandits, Hulkenberg is the one that fights the thugs off. In the manga, that role is instead given to Stohl.
- Ascended Extra: In the game, Gallica is just a companion who isn't too active in combat, apart from specific circumstances. In the manga, she more actively partakes in fights, including actually fighting Homo Avades instead of just weakening the Assailants, as well as helping the part fight Heismay, as he treats her as one of the combatants.
- Death by Adaptation: In the game, the Greatworm Homo Butera flees after the party is ejected from its bowels on their way to find Heismay and is later killed during Bardon's Rank 7 Bond Event. In the manga, it's killed shortly after meeting with Heismay, where it swallows Will, Hulkenberg, and Sthol, only for Will to cut them out with his Seeker Archetype.
- Decadent Court: A Paripus man initially kidnaps Maria because he heard about rich people having "strange tastes" and they would pay good money for children with mixed blood. Thankfully, he was remorseful almost as soon as he kidnapped her, due to Maria being about the same age as his own daughter.
- Declaration of Protection: While fighting Homo Butera, Will is the only one able to do anything against the Human, due to him being the only one with an Archetype, leaving Hulkenberg and Stohl unable to do anything. As they flee (at Will's behest), they bemoan their own uselessness, wanting to be more useful, even thinking back on their own tragic pasts. This allows them to awaken to their respective Archetypes, helping Will against the Human.
- Fantastic Racism: Par for the course with the original game; with the horned Clemar, long-eared Roussainte, long-lived Rhaog, winged Ishkia, and otherworly beautiful Nidia being more openly respected while the animal-like Paripus and bat-like Eugief are looked down upon as beastial. And at the bottom are the tricloptic Mustari and the mysterious Elda are largely despised with their very appearance being seen as a bad omen. Even people born to two different tribes are viewed with disgust and condemnation, even among the more well-respected tribes.
- Just in Time: Just as Will runs out of steam trying to solo Homo Butera, the Human closes in, about the kill him, only for the newly awakened Hulkenberg and Stohl to come in and save hi with their Archetypes.
- Succession Crisis: Much like with the game, the entire kingdom is thrown into chaos when the current king is suddenly murderer without a named heir. When the face of the late king appears, he announces a tournament in which the next king would be decided by the people.
