* When he's not being used as a villain, this is the major role played by Creator/MarvelComics character Galactus -- the Comicbook/FantasticFour have summoned him to defeat cosmic villains like the Sphinx, his rogue herald Terrax, Ego the Living Planet, Hyperstorm, and Abraxas, and various space-based franchises have used the character for this as well.
* Similarly, Creator/DCComics often shows lesser superheroes calling on Comicbook/TheSpectre when mystical evils get way out of hand. In most modern versions of the ComicBook/JusticeSocietyOfAmerica, this is essentially the Spectre's role on the team.

* Umar is the sister of Dormammu, the Lord of the Dark Dimension. When she confronted Comicbook/DoctorStrange, he, on advice of the Ancient One (his mentor) freed the demon Zom to oppose her. Now, Umar is... pretty bad-ass. She and her brother are the only survivors of the race of energy beings, the Faltine, mainly because they destroyed all the others. She rules the bad half of the Dark Dimension, which is why she is pretty ornery most of the time. She once bedded ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk and... exhausted him to the point where he turned back to Bruce Banner and couldn't Hulk out again. She cracked the world in half rather than traveling around it to get to the Ancient One, the Sorceror Supreme and therefore the most powerful magician in the world, and defeated him soundly. That's how bad-ass she is. When she clapped eyes on the unleashed Zom - who automatically homes in on the most powerful magic-user in the vicinity - she fled like a startled deer, declaring she wouldn't leave the Dark Dimension ever again. Of course, Zom was in turn just as scared of the Living Tribunal, but the latter wasn't summoned, so he doesn't count.

There's another villain, the Infinite Man, who is the embodiment of the theory that the universe runs on an infinite loop. Brainiac 5 brought in the latter to defeat the former.

* In Manga/JujutsuKaisen, Megumi Fushiguro is able to exploit a quirk in how his Ten Shadows Technique works to summon the strongest Shikigami in an emergency. The way the technique is meant to work is by having the sorcerer perform a ritual to summon an uncontrollable version of a Shikigami, then defeat it in single combat, subduing it and earning its loyalty so it may be summoned and controlled in combat. While nothing stops other sorcerers from assisting the summoner, this will invalidate the ritual, so the summoner won't gain control over the Shikigami. During the Shibuya Incident, Fushiguro finds himself cornered by an enemy while severely injured. As a last resort, he decides to initiate the ritual to summon and subdue Mahoroga, the strongest Shikigami which has never been successfully tamed before. While Fushiguro knows that he has no chance of actually winning, he hopes that Mahoroga will at least be able to take down that enemy alongside him. As an added bonus, while Mahoroga proceeds to inflict a OneHitKill onto Fushiguro immediately after being summoned, the ritual puts those who die during it into a state of suspended animation until either the Shikigami or every sorcerer involved is defeated, meaning that he's able to be transported to Ieiri, who has HealingHands and can save his life.
