The offspring of both Large Ham and Insistent Terminology, this is when a character has some sort of title appended (loudly) to their name. This is typically done by the character in question whenever they introduce themselves (assuming they introduce themselves enough times to count as this trope), however the effect can also be achieved by consistent Boss Subtitles or some sort of lackey giving it for them. Memetic Mutation can lead to fans creating one by always using their name with the title even if the title isn't normally appended to their name in-universe.

The Magnificent might do this, depending on how they feel about their title. If other characters append the title then it's also an example of Phrase Catcher. If they do it themselves then it's (naturally) their catchphrase.

Remember that simply having a title and using it once or twice doesn't count; the character or someone else must keep using it as part of their name.

• For a time Klarion the Witch Boy introduced himself, and insisted on being addressed as, Klarion...bum, bum, bum...The Witch Boy!.
• Any cases of The Adjectival Superhero, from The Amazing Spider-Man to THE GODDAMN BATMAN!!!
• Age of the Sentry: Cranio, a man with three brains, has a habit of introducing himself by declaring he is "Cranio, the Man With the Tri-Level Mind!" Of course, the series is an Affectionate Parody of the Silver Age of Comic Books.

• The Far Side cartoon, "The Names We Give Dogs/The Names They Give Themselves," implies this; it can be seen here.

  • Calvin appears to have a penchant for this trope, as he has also dubbed himself Calvin The Bold, Calvin the (Super) Genius, Spaceman Spiff, galactic explorer!!, Stupendous Man! Champion of Liberty!! Foe of Tyranny!!!, and so on and so on.
• Garfield: Nermal, the world's cutest kitten! Note that this title is not actually technically accurate; he's really an adult cat that happens to look really young and the sense to go with what works.

• Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series: "And now I sacrifice my pawn to summon Ultimate Elemental Hero Ultimately Shining Queen's Pawn! Now I am the Chess Prince!"
• RainbowDoubleDash's Lunaverse:
  • Aside from the Great and Powerful Trixie, there's an enemy in one story who introduces herself as "the Dark and Omnipotent Antithesis". Though only after her initial name of "Twixie" just gets blank looks.
  • Trixie herself doesn't realize non-showpony professions don't tend to do this, so when forced to pretend to be Lyra, she introduces herself as the "Majestic and Lovely Lyra". This gets her some very confused stares, and irritates the actual Lyra, who's right there, just invisible to prevent a Freak Out.
• The Infinite Loops: Anywhere Ciaphas Cain (HERO OF THE IMPERIUM) goes, a suitable dramatic title shall follow, often adjusted for the universe he's in. Ergo, as a pony, he becomes Candy Cane, HERO OF EQUESTRIA!
  • Not to be confused with Blueblood: Hero of Equestria!, a fanfiction which (as you might infer from the title) makes Prince Blueblood a very obvious expy of Cain.

• The Emperor's New Groove: "What's his name? KUZCOOOOOO!"
• Moana gives us Maui, shapeshifter, demigod of the wind and sea, hero to man. And women.

• Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. The Toadie introduces his master thus: "Greetings from The Humungus! The Lord Humungus! The Warrior of the Wasteland! The Aya-tollah of Rock and Rolla!"
• Repo! The Genetic Opera: "I'M THE REPO! LEGAL ASSASSIN!"
• Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow is quite insistent on being referred to as Captain Jack Sparrow. To the point that Will and Elizabeth will correct others for him when he isn't around.
• Sky High (2005): Ron Wilson, Bus Driver!
• This is Spın̈al Tap: "Artie Fufkin, Polymer Records."
• X2: X-Men United gives us "Kurt Wagner... but in the Munich Circus I was known as The Incredible Nightcrawler!"

Literature

• Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! from the novels of the same name. Notable in that he doesn't really want the title, or the recognition that comes with it.
• Septimus Heap: The new head of the Message Rat Office is quite verbal at being called "Sir".
• In the X-Wing Series, when Wraith Squadron's pilots object to their new recruit Elassar Targon not being crazy enough to fit in, he responds by jumping on a table and yelling "Elessar Targon, Master of the Universe, reporting for duty!"
  "Objection Withdrawn!"
• Unseen Academicals has Bengo Macarona, the visiting professor and star football player of Unseen University. He is very highly educated and won't let anyone omit his full academic honors. Even when making up a football chant. This creates an Overly Long Gag.
• In Forrest Gump, a Forrest Gump remembers when he was younger (this would have been in the mid-1950s) a local Klansman, "Grand Exalted Pishposh, or whatever he calls hissef" making a bad joke with a noose.

Live-Action TV

• The full title for the King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon can be quite extensive and pompous, as seen on the quote page.
• When Conan O'Brien guest-hosted Saturday Night Live he starred in the sketch "Moleculo, the Molecular Man" as a Clark Kent/Superman expy. The others figured out pretty quickly that Brett Baker is really Moleculo since whenever Moleculo's name comes up he's compelled to say "The Molecular Man!" afterwards. He moves to Mexico where the same thing happens because he still has to yell "El hombre de los moleculos!"
• Doctor Who:
  • Craig Owens has an infant son who calls himself "Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All." According to the Doctor, who speaks baby.
  • A certain politician who felt compelled to introduce herself to all and sundry as "Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North" (and later, the even more unnecessary "Harriet Jones, Prime Minister"), to which absolutely everyone replied testily, "Yes, we know who you are." This led to awesome last words:
  Dalek: We know who you are.
  Harriet Jones: You know nothing of any human, and that will be your downfall.
• One episode of How I Met Your Mother had Barney setting out to prove that Ted's career makes him sexy by introducing him to various random women as "Ted Mosby, Architect". When Ted will have no part of this, Barney proceeds to spend the evening telling various women that he is Ted Mosby, Architect.
• New Girl: One of Shmidt's girlfriends recommends always introducing yourself as though your job is part of your name, as it makes you seem more important, no matter the job. This is doubly so for her since she's a politician and relies on people remembering to vote for her. "Fawn Moscotto, City Council."
• From the US version of The Office we have "Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration" (who even has the second part used at his wedding).
• Star Trek: The Next Generation had (when she was feeling particularly hammy or high and mighty); Lwaxana Troi, daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed!
  • In the Imzadi Expanded Universe novels, Deanna makes it very clear to her new beau Will Riker that these titles are nowhere near as impressive as they sound; the Sacred Chalice of Riix is a rather battered old drinking vessel that her mother keeps in the back of her closet (an episode of the series had her call it "an old clay pot with mold growing inside it"), and another novel states that the Holy Rings are a bunch of tarnished bracelets they keep in a shoebox.
• Star Trek: The Original Series had a former starship captain named Garth who went batshit crazy and got locked up in an insane asylum. During his jailbreak, he demanded to be called "LORD Garth of Izar, ''Master of the Universe!!"
• The introduction to our hero in The Adventures of Captain Proton, the Show Within a Show in Star Trek: Voyager.

• Mystery Science Theater 3000: when a lofty-sounding name shows up in a title credit, Servo pipes up in a pompous tone - "Ohh, is the great Hollingsworth Morse in this picture?"

• "From Ohio, he weighs in at 210 pounds, he is the bee's knees, the cat's pajamas, the whole shebang, all heart, the king of Cleveland, Johnny Wrestling, Johnny Gargano!"

• Munchkin: one interesting piece of equipment is known as the Really Impressive Title. You don't have to come up with one, but pretty much everyone does anyway.
• A Warhammer 40,000 thread that started innocently enough, except that the OP copy-pasted the All Caps name of the model he was asking about, with other posters following suit. The thread soon degenerated into singing the praises of the CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT.
• Plenty of examples in Magic: The Gathering, but the three Eldrazi titans stand out, as befit a trio of giant monsters / evil gods at the heart of the Cosmic Horror Story part of the lore. Each can appear as two different cards with different attributes (because Eldrazi) and succinct but evocative titles to go with them.
  • Emrakul (the senior of the three going by card power) is the Aeons Torn and the Promised End.
  • Kozilek is the Butcher of Truth and the Great Distortion.
  • Ulamog is the Infinite Gyre and the Ceaseless Hunger.

Video Games

• Bug Fables gives us General Ultimax, the crusher of rebellions!
• Disgaea: Hour of Darkness brings us CAPTAIN GORDON, DEFENDER OF EARTH! So much, in fact, that he named a trope.
• In Dawn of War, Apollo Diomedes, Captain of the Honor Guard! reminds people of his position when he gives speeches. Particularly if his loyalty is questioned.
• Elden Ring: HOARAH LOUX, WARRIOR!
• Mass Effect 2 gives us Fortack THE LORD HIGH RESEARCHER!
• Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny has the recurring boss and huge ham Gogandantess, The Greatest Swordsman of all Demons!. Unlike many other examples, his title is used in a less hammy and more serious occasion by Jubei who calls him by his title one last time as he's slowly dying.
• "Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate™!"
• In Pokémon Vietnamese Crystal, Pryce says that he and his monsters are known as "WINTRY POPLAR AND WILLOW", Professor Oak says that everyone calls him ELF MONSTER, and Silver brags that he is THE FIRST MANKIND ALL OVER THE WORLD.
• Demon Lord Ghirahim, anyone?
• From the Warcraft-verse (specifically World of Warcraft and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft), "you face Jaraxxus! EREDAR LORD of the BURNING LEGION!" It's especially funny because the players have killed an Eredar lord before, information which Jaraxxus clearly does not know. That being said, Jaraxxus is an especially Large Ham even for an Eredar (who are known for hamming it up).
• Undertale: Asriel Dreemurr, God of Hyperdeath introduces himself with a cutscene showing his name, letter by letter.
• League of Legends: Kled, the Cantankerous Cavalier, demands that you respect his authority of "High Major Commodore of the First Legion Third Multiplication Double Admiral Artillery Vanguard Company". It should be mentioned that he has a habit of killing high-ranking officers and adding their titles to his own.
• Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has Zeke von Genbu, Bringer of Chaos! He also calls himself the Zekenator. A more serious title of his is "Thunderbolt Zeke".

Visual Novels

• Umineko: When They Cry:
  • BeyAHtoREEchi!, the Golden Witch, the Thousand Year Old Endless Witch, the Master of Rokkenjima's nights and the Master of the Closed Room Mystery. Though she doesn't use all of those at once but selects the one best delivered for the occasion. The other Beatrices announce themselves similarly at one time or another.
  • "Tant-TEI Furudo Erika, the Witch of TRUTH!"

• Girl Genius:

• When he appears in Bugs Bunny shorts (but not the Road Runner cartoons that made him famous) Wile E. Coyote introduces himself as; "Wile E. Coyote, super genius!"
• My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE! A unicorn who seems to enjoy bragging about many things she never did. Her special talent is stage performance, so playing a large ham comes with the territory. When she's not performing or trying to impress others, she tends to give it a rest.
  • Dragon Lord Ember is no slouch on the ham either, introducing herself to Ponyville as such: "Hello! I am Ember, Daughter of Torch, Winner of the Gauntlet of Fire and Lord of All Dragons!" Unsurprisingly, this unnerves some of the ponies.
• Dave the Barbarian: The Dark Lord Chuckles The Silly Piggy!
• The finale of The Legend of Korra reveals that Varrick's (apparent) full name is "Sir Iknik Blackstone Varrick of the Southern Water Tribe, Master of the High Seas".
