Going to Be One of Those Days

Go To

A character gets up in the morning and soon finds something bad has happened- or is about to happen to them. They respond with some variation of: "Sigh... I guess it's going to be one of those days."

This is typically what Deadpan Snarkers will do when normal people would have an Oh, Crap! moment. In action-orientated series, it will often overlap with Casual Danger Dialog.

May overlap with This Is Gonna Suck. See also Here We Go Again!. A common variant is "Mom warned me there'd be days like this" (or something equivalent).

  • A Gem of a Day: Sunset says this in response to seeing Twilight creating her focusing gem, Rarity planning to join the Seamstress Club, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy as feuding friends, and Pinkie Pie making a bet with Trixie.
  • Just another one of those days…: Stated at the end of Chapter 1 after Laura observes that Brittas is in a foul mood one day.

Live-Action TV

  • Emergency! has "Weird Wednesday" (season 1) and "One of Those Days" (season five). Both episodes involve strange happenings for for both the paramedics and the hospital. Dr. Brackett describes "a beaut" from the former:
    Dr. Brackett: Lady came in this morning predicting she was about to have an appendicitis attack...and did.
  • In Tru Calling, each "Groundhog Day" Loop was "one of those days".
  • Occurs frequently on The Muppet Show, usually when the hijinks that are about to ensue become self-evident;
    Kermit: I have a feeling it's going to be one of those shows.

  • The line shows up in Hotel Mario.
  • A Black Mesa security guard in Half-Life 1 casually quotes a variation of this after failing to access a computer server, near the start of the game after Gordon gets off the tram. His statement is rendered completely wrong as the game unfolds.
