* Almost all of the few ''Film/MidnightCowboy'' fanfics on Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn have Ratso Rizzo receive medical treatment in time to cure him of his IncurableCoughOfDeath and live HappilyEverAfter with Joe Buck in Florida, usually with a RelationshipUpgrade. For example, ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/19945186 I won't let you leave my love behind]]'' and its sequels. The butterfly effect takes hold with the result that every change following flows mostly logically from the previous changes, until you're halfway through the whole thing and Shinji is holding a nuclear explosion '''in his hand''', and you wonder how the heck you ended up there.

** ''Fanfic/OnceMoreWithFeeling'' consists in Shinji going back to the past and trying to fix the monumental mess that the original timeline was.

* Subverted in ''Literature/{{Ward}}'' PeggySue fanfiction ''Fanfic/{{Warp|Xbritomartxrp}}'' (per Word of God). Although she certainly wants to avert future tragedies, Victoria wasn't one of the key players in ''[[Literature/{{Worm}} the novel "Warp" is a sequel to]]'', which means her capability to influence events and her knowledge thereof is limited.

** ''Fanfic/KarmasABitch'' likewise averts Lila's [[spoiler:KarmaHoudini]] status and Chloé's redemption arc, and is overall more positive toward most of the main cast for those who disliked the high salt levels in the original. It also averts and deconstructs the [[FandomSpecificPlot popular Saltinette characterization]] ''Karma's'' Marinette had shades of in favor of addressing her canonical issues with jealousy and impulsiveness, taking a more balanced look at the situation and exploring why various characters act the way they do.

* There are already several fics out there that "fix" the ending of ''VideoGame/{{Portal 2}}'' in which [[spoiler: Wheatley is either not sent out into space, or brought back to Earth some time after the game's end]], Such as ''FanFic/BlueSky''.

Compare {{Retcon}} and ArmedWithCanon, the {{Canon}} versions of a Fix Fic. If different writers in the same franchise try to impose their view of canon on each other by force, see ArmedWithCanon. In very rare cases, may lead to AscendedFanon. Contrast DeconstructionFic, although they can and often do overlap in the case of deconstructing something the author dislikes and replacing it with something the author does like. AccusationFic, RevengeFic and HateFic can overlap as well, depending on how much the writer feels the need to "punish" the characters for what happened in the original story.

* ''Fanfic/OnceUponAStudioVersionTwoPointOh'' is a huge extended cut of Creator/{{Disney}}'s [[WesternAnimation/OnceUponAStudio centenary short]], written by lifelong Disney fans Matthew Muir and Lauren Sharpe, who believed the existing short had even more potential. It gives WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}}, WesternAnimation/{{Moana}}, [[WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}} Rapunzel]] and their respective princes and families a considerably larger role in bringing the spirits of the other characters back up after Goofy's unfortunate accident.

* ''Manga/Metamorphosis2013'' is an infamous and highly controversial H-manga that depicts a young woman falling victim to sexual abuse and drug addiction, ending with the heroine DrivenToSuicide via drug overdose while heavily pregnant. One reader, aghast at this, created a new ending simply titled "I'm Gonna Fix That Girl", wherein [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Josuke Higashikata and Okuyasu Nijimura]] find her shortly after shooting up a lethal dose of heroin, and Josuke uses [[CombatMedic Crazy Diamond]] to save her life and give her the happy ending she deserves. The ending scene from the original H-manga, which was a DyingDream of the heroine with her daughter, is changed so that she actually lives thanks to Josuke. The edit is so popular that hentai sites often feature it despite it having no sexually explicit content of its own.

** ''WebVideo/FixingRWBY'' is a web series where one man describes how he'd rewrite the show in order to improve upon it.

** Unicorn of War-Thomas Vaccaro made a Youtube video called ''WebVideo/IRewroteRWBYVolume8'' which made changes that fixed the issues many fans had with volume 8.
