Among the many characters in the long-running Super Sentai series, these are the most cunning and charismatic.

1980s

     Examples 
  • Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan: Amazon Killer is a Vader Clan field officer who joins Machine Empire Black Magma out of loyalty to Queen Hedrian. Upon her arrival on Earth, Amazon Killer formulates a plan that successfully destroys Sun Vulcan's base, and keeps Sun Vulcan on their toes throughout the series with both her cunning and strength in combat. When Führer Hell Saturn appoints Inazuma Ginga to be his new right-hand man, Amazon Killer conspires with Queen Hedrian to manipulate Inazuma Ginga into killing Hell Saturn in a duel. She then nominates Inazuma Ginga to succeed him, causing the Zero Girls to back Queen Hedrian to become Black Magma's new ruler so Inazuma Ginga won't get it. When the Omnipotent God intervenes to kill Hedrian and appoints Amazon Killer as its new Puppet Queen, Amazon Killer reveals the Omnipotent God's location to Sun Vulcan before choosing to commit suicide rather than continue serving it.
  • Dai Sentai Goggle Five: Grand Marshal Deathmark is a high commander of Dark Science Empire Deathdark who sealed himself in the past so Führer Taboo could reawaken him should he ever be needed again. Revived in the present day to deal with Goggle V, in his debut Deathmark executes Dr. Zazoriya and Dr. Iguana for their failures and promptly takes command of Deathdark's operations, increasing the threat of their plans significantly. In a bid to take out Goggle V's base, Deathmark coerces Mazurka into acting as unwitting suicide bomber and uses her to blow up the Future Science Lab. When Goggle V retaliates by storming Deathtopia, Deathmark is able to repel all five in combat, only being defeated when Goggle V unexpectedly changes tactics.
  • Kagaku Sentai Dynaman: Prince Megiddo is the son of Emperor Aton and his initial top enforcer. After Aton has General Zenobia chop Megiddo's tails off and banishes him to the Millennium Cave for his failures, Megiddo vows revenge against his father and Zenobia. Escaping the cave, Megiddo resurfaces as the Dark Knight to play both sides, discarding his earlier character flaws while becoming much more fearsome. When General Kar discovers the Retro Genes that can grant someone ten tails, Megiddo allies with the treacherous Zenobia by offering to help her gain ten tails first, setting up a machine to transfer the Retro Genes into her but sabotaging it to kill her instead. He then duels Aton and bests him before revealing his identity, shattering the Jashinka's tail-based caste system and leading a dying Aton to name Megiddo his successor. Megiddo then traps the Dynamen in the Millennium Cave and leads the Jashinka in a final conquest of Earth, going from outcast prince to Emperor in a spectacular way.
  • Choudenshi Bioman: Bio Hunter Silva is a Bio Particle exterminator created by the Anti-Bio Union and by far the toughest opponent the Biomen faced. Coming to Earth after causing the destruction of Bio Star, Silva easily outmatches the Biomen while outmaneuvering the Neo Empire Gear's attempts to capture him. When the Gear steal his Balzion mecha and Farrah pilots it against the Biomen, Silva remotely holds it in place, allowing the Biomen to kill Farrah, before using a clone of Prince to break into Neograd and kill Mason. Silva then enters Balzion and pilots it to eliminate the Biomen and the last of the Bio Particles. Even when Balzion is destroyed, Silva attempts to fight the Biomen on his own, still trying to complete his mission in his final moments.
  • Choushinsei Flashman: Sir Cowler is the slick and coldly professional leader of the Alien Hunters responsible for abducting the Flashmen in the past. Coming to Earth in search of strong opponents, Cowler resumes working for the Reconstructive Experiment Empire Mess so he can fight the Flashmen personally. When Ra Deus sacrifices the Alien Hunters to power up a Beast Warrior, a vengeful Cowler rebels against the Mess and kidnaps Dr. Tokimura to make him build a second Gene Synthesizer, which he uses to weaken Ra Deus before infiltrating Reconstructive Experiment Base Laboh and seemingly destroying him. After being mortally wounded in a duel with Red Flash, Cowler uses his final moments to show Sara who her real parents are before performing a Suicide Attack to cripple the Laboh.
  • Hikari Sentai Maskman: Earth Curiosities Beast Anagmas is the archivist and mystic of Underground Empire Tube and one of Emperor Zeba's most trusted minions. Stepping in to deal with the Maskman after Baraba and Igam's failures, Anagmas formulates a successful plan to weaken Momoko and cripple the Great Five, allowing Tube to capture the mecha. When the Maskmen and Ial obtain a crystal ball containing Zeba's secrets, Anagmas is able to get close and destroy it before they can learn Zeba's weakness, before staying behind to face the Maskmen in order to buy time for Zeba to complete his final plan.
  • Choujuu Sentai Liveman: Doctor Ashura is a member of the Armed Brain Army Volt and a tough but honorable foe of the Livemen. Formerly a gang leader named Arashi Busujima who had his mind enhanced by Great Professor Bias, Ashura devises strategies that combine his augmented intelligence with his already impressive physical strength, even nearly succeeding in breaking Yusuke's spirit with one plan. Growing suspicious of Volt after his score stops rising, Ashura uses Hacker Brain to hack into the Brain Base and unearths files on Bias's true plan, leading Bias to deem him a liability and revoke his modifications. Reverted to normal, Arashi sacrifices himself to blow up the seemingly-indestructable Battle Brain, choosing to go out in a blaze of glory with his humanity intact.

1990s

     Examples 
  • Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman: First Captain Chevalier is a sophisticated and smooth warrior who served as the original captain of Vulgyre, leading the Zone in numerous successful conquests before being permitted to retire. Growing bored of his life of luxury, Chevalier returns to the Zone and charms his way back into the captain's chair before proceeding to formulate a number of schemes which push the Fiveman to their limits, even killing Gaku in one instance and then paying respect to him as a Worthy Opponent right after. Taking to the field to gather the Fivemen's blood for Vulgyre to power up with, Chevalier chains himself to FiveRed to fight him in a deathmatch while using the Black Gorlin and the Gingamen to keep the other Fivemen at bay. Although slain by Gaku, Chevalier was nonetheless able to ensure Vulgyre's final transformation using his own energy.
  • Seijuu Sentai Gingaman:
    • Captain Zahab is the leader of the Space Pirates Balban, the Gingaman's nemesis and a fearsome, deadly and intelligent foe. When freed from the 3000 year seal along with his group he restructures their modus operandi to avoid as much infighting as possible which caused their downfall in the past, sending out one general at the time to scheme to fully resurrect Daitanix. When Iliess undermines her fellow general, Budoh, and frames him as a traitor Zahab manages to figure out the truth and lets her think she fooled him up until she's no longer of use using her remains to slow down Daitanix's rotting, while throwing out Bucrates as well for his compliance in her scheme. When Daitanix begins to rot away even after being freed, Zahab leaves it to die so the Balban can grow a second Demon Beast from its remains. In the final arc of the series, Zahab proves to be capable of adapting and overcoming every inconvenience and setback that pops up for his plans, eventually getting his second Demon Beast and even after losing his entire crew and all of his Demon Beasts in the series finale he remains defiant and plans to restart his goals from the ground-up only being stopped by the heroes pulling all stops to defeat him.
    • Samurai General Budoh is the most cunning and calculating general of the Space Pirates Balban. Taking affirmative action to be chosen as the new acting commander after witnessing Sambash's death by revealing a secure and surefire plan to find the Lights of Ginga by investigating all possible hiding spots one-by-one as detailed in legends of the artifacts. Respectful of both opponents and minions alike, Budoh commended every one of his fallen men's efforts and fought fairly against the Gingamen. When pressured by both the return of Bullblack and Captain Zahab's growing impatience, Budoh simply calls forth his Four Shogun and sends them out to finish the list with the last one succeeding before sabotage and incrimination from Illiess causes him to lose the Lights to the Gingamen. Even when branded a traitor and hunted down, Budoh refuses to give up or fight his own side and opts to just try and clear his name up until Medoumedou, the monster responsible for framing him, tells him the truth in an attempt to break him which Budoh laughs off before killing her in retaliation and fighting Ginga Red in one last honorable one-on-one Duel to the Death, all after requesting his last two minions to leave with their lives.

2000s

     Examples 
  • Mirai Sentai Timeranger:
    • "Case File 10: The Escape To Tomorrow": Mercenary Org is a dangerous mercenary dispatched by the Londerz Family to eliminate the Timerangers, who combines frightening brawn with deadly brilliance. First using a space-time communication pulse to lure Time Red and Time Blue into a trap and disable their Chrono Changers, Org detonates a bomb to try and kill the two, even returning to the scene to ensure his targets are dead. When he discovers they survived, Org uses his memory of the battlefield to drive the two into a freezing room, trapping them to let them freeze to death as he fights off Time Yellow and Time Pink. When Org is narrowly foiled by Time Green with the four Timerangers on the brink of death, he turns himself giant for a last shot at the bounty, finally being defeated after charging Time Robo Alpha.
    • "Case File 14: Dead Heat:" Mad Racer Baron is the former racing rival of Ayase. After Ayase turns him in for a crime, Baron crafts a new plan in prison. After being released, Baron plays the role of a getaway driver for the Dolnero crime family, pretending to be madly in love with Dolnero's moll Lila, all the while hunting down Ayase, who has become Time Blue. Fearless and cunning, Baron repeatedly helps the Dolneros escape crime scenes, eventually slipping away via disguise and challenging Ayase to their final race, convincing Ayase to do so. When Ayase rams his car and disqualifies himself from their race to save children, Baron willingly turns himself in after acknowledging that Ayase had the moral high ground and tells off Lila for her criminal ways. Even when Lila brainwashes him as a last resort, Baron admits that he was secretly jealous of Ayase all along, before breaking the mind control with his willpower and ensuring his own arrest at the hands of his rival.
    • "Case File 15: Search for the Sniper": Sniper Reihou is a capable assassin dispatched by Don Dolnero to eliminate the Timerangers. Immediately demanding more pay from the Londerz family in exchange for the Timerangers' deaths, Reihou begins her pursuit by tracking down the Timerangers' ally Honami. Interrogating her and disabling an elevator to avoid interference, Reihou uses a single picture from her wallet to deduce the home of the Timerangers. Putting a bomb collar upon Honami in an open square, Reihou draws the Timerangers out and splits them up. After they are in the open, Reihou nearly manages to eliminate them, even using their honor to falsely surrender and escape once tracked down, summoning backup and turning gigantic, before shooting Yuuri while gigantic. Reihou holds her own against Time Robo before finally being brought down and freeze-compressed.

2010s

     Examples 
  • Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Captain Marvelous/GokaiRed leads the Gokaigers. Once a member of the Red Pirate Gang that collected the Ranger Keys, after Basco betrayed the group and tried to steal them for himself, Marvelous took the Ranger Keys and formed the Gokaigers to go to Earth and find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe first. Starting out greedy and self-interested, Marvelous and his crew come to blows with the Zangyack Empire when they invade again while they are gathering the Greater Powers from various Sentai and learning about heroism from them. After pulling off a risky move to kill Basco and take the last of the Sentai Greater Powers, Marvelous finally obtains the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, but destroys it after learning it will take away the powers of the Sentai if used. Marvelous then leads the Gokaigers in a final battle to defend the Earth from Zangyack, having become a true hero in the end even if he'll never admit it.
  • Space Squad:
    • Space Sheriff Gavan VS Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: Butterfly Ninja Benikiba is a former Space Sheriff who joined the Genmakuu. To sabotage the Galaxy Federal Police's operation to take out Hellvira, Benikiba killed Maki and assumed her identity to infiltrate them. After performing well in a simulation, Benikiba gets herself assigned to the task force targeting Hellvira, before betraying and incapacitating both her teammates, only being stopped when the Dekaranger girls arrive. Discovering Shelly has a high level of rurenamode, Benikiba exits from the scene to report her discovery to Mad Gallant, and assists him in his plan to harness her power for his ultimate weapon. Disturbed by Mad Gallant's sadistic beating of Shelly, Benikiba chooses to leave to report to Guru Fumein and survives the film, allowing her to go assist Coolgin in his operation.
    • Uchu Sentai Kyuranger VS Space Squad: Space Ninja Demost is a devious Genmakuu commander seeking to conquer the World of Kyuranger. Pretending to be a fellow ninja of Hammie's, Demost tricks her into stealing the Neo Kyutamas under the pretense they can save her master in order to frame her as having gone rogue, then uses the stolen Kyutamas to revive Mele, Juzo Fuwa, Basco ta Jolokia and Escape to be his henchmen. Killing and assuming the identity of presidential aide Kimiko Naruse, in her guise Demost subtly manipulates Tsurugi Ohtori into going after Hammie while at the same time disguising himself as Shou Ronpou and convincing Lucky to protect her, tricking the Kyurangers into in-fighing so they'll destroy each other. When his plans are exposed by the Space Squad, Demost faces both them and the Kyurangers in one last stand, refusing to go down without a fight.

2020s

  • Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger:
    • Rcules Husty is the initial ruler of Shugoddam who upon witnessing his father Corsus' death at the hands of Dagded Dujardin, began to plot a 17 year-long plan to defeat the Galactinsect King and free the Universe of his tyranny. Pretending to become a tyrant when the Bug Naraku attack, Rcules subtly encourages Gira to rebel against him and awaken the power needed to form the Ohsama Sentai. After Gira defeats him, Rcules goes into hiding and resurfaces once the Galactinsects arrive on Tikyuu, helping them conquer the planet before setting up Goma Rosalia to die so he can take his place as a Jester then use his influence to gain Dagded's trust and a part of his immortal-killing power to share it with the Ohsama Sentai to use against the Galactinsect King. When Dagded launches his ultimate plan, Rcules leads the citizens of Tikyuu to aid their kings and personally helps dispose of Kamejim. After Dagded's defeat and final death, Rcules surrenders the crown of Shugoddam to Gira and accepts punishment for his crimes.
    • Kaguragi Dybowski/Hachi Ohger is the ruling lord of the Kingdom of Toufu, having ascended to rulership after the tragic death of his mentor Iroki during the Fury of the Gods. Becoming a more duplicitous schemer as a result, Kaguragi willingly collaborates with Rcules Husty behind the scenes during the Bug Naraku invasion while aiding the other King-Ohgers in repelling the attack on the surface on the frontlines. Working with his younger sister Suzume to obtain the OhgerCrownLance from Rcules, he gives it to Gira to allow him to win the duel for Shugoddam's throne before using the information he and Suzume obtained from their subterfuge to save Tikyu. During the Galactinsects threat, Kaguragi secretly collaborates with Rcules once again to secure him a place within the Galactinsects and arrange a situation where Dagded Dujardin grants Rcules the power to kill immortals, allowing the monarchs to have the power to kill their invaders permanently. After being supported by the citizens of Tikyu, who chose to fight with their monarchs, Kaguragi joins the other King-Ohgers in destroying Dagded Dujardin once and for all, bringing true peace to Tikyu for the first time in 2,000 years.
