The Solomon Code is a Young Adult Urban Fantasy series by JD Kloosterman begun in 2020. Teenage protagonist Chad Dickson discovers that he is a Nephilim, a race of creatures possibly alien or possibly half-angel, that have ruled the earth since ancient times and were only recently overthrown. The series follows his adventures through various military orders in pursuit of a legendary artifact known as the Solomon Code.

The series currently consists of two works; The Nephilim Protocol and The Hospitaller Oath, with a third book, The Teutonic Doctrine due out September 2022.

The Solomon Code contains examples of:

  • Badass Normal: Levin, an ordinary human who asks to fight a Nephil with a magic self-fighting sword of destiny because he needs a CHALLENGE.
  • Child Soldiers: The premise of the series is that Chad and his teenage friends are working for various military conspiracies as superpowered warriors.
  • Coming of Age Story: A bit heavy-handed, with Chad's "Ascendance" an obvious metaphor for puberty, but the books are largely about Chad figuring out where he fits in the world.
  • Damsel in Distress: Freyja Norjavik is very much this in the second book, though she's uncomfortable about it.
  • Extranormal Institute: Technically Camp Solanas is this, although it functions as a prison camp and the teaching is an a very secondary concern. Makes it closer to School for Scheming
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: Dolphin is obsessed with sex. Subverted with Mouse, who doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Levin confesses in the second book that he wanted the sword to become a superpowered fighter like a Nephil.
  • Masquerade: The world is populated by Nephilim who dominate many powerful organizations and have been involved throughout history. The world governments all have Nephilim programs. But of course it's all totally secret.
  • Muggle Best Friend: Levin is an ordinary human, but a formidable one and a close friend of Chad's.
  • The Men in Black: Sort-of DEVAS, though no mysterious agents appear.
  • Science Fantasy: Are the Nephilim angels, or are they aliens?
  • Teens Love Shopping: Freyja is a multibillion-dollar heiress, but she loves hunting through secondhand stores.
  • Trenchcoat Brigade: A lot of groups, but especially the Templars when Chad first meets them. Sort of a deliberate example as the Templars wear the long coats specifically because they think they look cool.
