Summus Proelium is a Web Serial Novel by Cerulean that takes place in Another Dimension of his Heretical Edge series. Summus Proelium is a superhero story following a young woman named Cassidy Evans. Summus Proelium takes place in a world where mysterious orbs have appeared which grant superpowers to anyone who touches them. After accidentally witnessing a murder, Cassidy encounters one of the orbs while fleeing from the murderers (one of whom is her brother). Cassidy is granted the ability to generate nine different colors of paint, each with a different power. Unfortunately, because of what she saw she ends up being stuck in the middle of a conflict with her family on one side and the heroes on the other. At least it seems that way at first. Soon though it becomes apparent that the line between superheroes and supervillains isn't as clear cut as it may seem...

This series provides examples of:

  • No-Sell: Pencil has this as a super power.
  • I Am Your Father: Cassidy's dad is a supervilain and a superhero as well.
  • Ominous Fog: The world the orbs of light transport people to is filled with fog so thick it's almost impossible to see through.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Silversmith, the leader of the Detroit branch of the Conservators, is the protagonist's father and a supervillain.
