Strange Little Band
is a dark paranormal non-sappy romance set in the near future. The content is usually comparable to an MPAA R rating, straying occasionally into NC-17 territory.
SLB is the story of Addison and Shane, two self-centered, amoral psychics who work for the cut-throat Triptych Corporation. Their insular, comfortable lives are disrupted when, due to Triptych’s machinations, they become unlikely parents. How can they raise a child when they can’t trust each other?
This work contains examples of:
- Badass Bookworm: Shane Myers is generally quiet and unassuming, and more interested in his research and family than anything else. He can also kick ass both physically and psychically when he needs to.
- Black-and-Grey Morality: The protagonists in this story are thoroughly unpleasant people and almost seem like Villain Protagonists. Then you meet the antagonists, and you realize who the "heroes" are.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Shane Myers is half alien, half human but most of his colleagues don't know this. The identity of his alien father is important later in the story.
