Little Witch Academia: The Nonsensical Witch and the Country of the Fairies, is a light novel set in the Little Witch Academia world. It is written by Momo Tachibana.

Set in the same continuity as the 2017 TV series, when Luna Nova embarks on an annual field trip to Doras Hill as part of a ritual, trouble occurs when Luna Nova is unable to get in contact with the hill's guardian, Sifla, who refuses to set out of her house. Of course, Akko, being concerned about this turn of events, sets off with her friends Lotte and Sucy to figure out what is going on.

There, they find out that her refusal to step outside is because her friends have ran off, which upsets her greatly. After hearing this and promising her to bring them back, this soon leads the trio to find out that there is a fierce tribal rivalry between two fairy factions, the Cait Sith, led by the pompous and hot tempered cat fairy, Feoras, and the Cu Sith, led by the laidback and lazy dog fairy, Alan.

It is now up to Akko and friends to resolve this rivalry between them, bring them back to Stifla and to get the ritual to go on as planned.

The Nonsensical Fairies and the Country of Fairies contains the following examples:

  • Beneath the Mask: Feoras puts on a coolheaded appearance early on, but later on, he's actually shown to be quite short-tempered and prone to rage, especially towards Alan.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Alan is shown to have moments of cleverness and competence throughout, however, it barely shows due to his sheer laziness.
  • Canon Foreigner: Sifla, Feoras and Alan are original characters made exclusively for the novel.
  • Cats Are Mean: Downplayed, Feoras isn't downright mean, but he is very short-tempered and can be quite smug and condescending at times.
  • Cat/Dog Dichotomy: Feoras and Alan are a cat and dog, respectively, and the two are shown to have a fierce rivalry, with Feoras being pompous and hot-tempered, and Alan being lazy and laidback.
  • Cat Folk: Feoras and the Cait Sith are a group of fairies who take on the appearance of cats.
  • Damsel in Distress: Amanda, Constanze and Jasminka ended up getting kidnapped and tied to logs by the Cu Sith after following Akko and co.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Alan is introduced by being pulled on a sled by the Cu Sith and sleeping, immediately establishing him as being an incredibly lazy guy.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: The fairies are depicted as animals in the light novel.
  • First-Person Perspective: The story is told primarily from Akko's perspective.
  • Interquel: The story takes place roughly in-between episodes 3 and 7.
  • Pet the Dog: When Hannah and Barbara berate Akko for her muggle background, Diana actually stands up for Akko this time and tells her Girl Posse to cut it off.
  • Unstoppable Rage: After several pages of the two fighting, Feoras and Alan grow into giant angry brutes who can't stop fighting each other, thanks to Stifla the 1st granting their anger-filled wishes.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Sifla is a six year old and beyond the fact that she is the guardian of Doras Hill, she is shown to be a surprisingly mature and wise person for her age.
