Bigfoot and Littlefoot contains examples of:

  • Beneath the Earth: Boone's Sasquatch community is located in Whiddershins Cavern. It's a giant cave system where the Sasquatches all set up shops and businesses in various nooks.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Hugo, his family, and his community are all Sasquatches.
  • Birthday Episode: "The Squatchicorns" is set during Boone's birthday.
  • Cassandra Truth: In the first book, when Boone tells Hugo about seeing a live Sasquatch in the woods, Hugo excitedly replies that he was the Sasquatch. Boone, however, immediately thinks Hugo's playing a joke on him and lets him know he won't be communicating with him anymore.
  • Fictional Currency: Nubbins, which are coins Sasquatches use as money.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Hugo, a sasquatch, befriends Boone, a human.
    • "The Monster Detector" reveals this also applied to Hugo's grandpa and Boone's grandmother.
  • Lilliputians: The Tommyknocker in "The Squatchicorns" is shown as a tiny human being with a white beard.
  • Make a Wish: Near the beginning of the first book, Boone picks up a dandelion and blows the seeds off it, which he states in a note later in the book to be because he was wishing to see a Sasquatch. Soon after blowing the dandelion, he saw Hugo.
  • Meaningful Name: As it turns out in "The Big Beast", Ripple Worm River gets its name from it being inhabited by Ripple Worms, or as we know them, Ogopogos.
  • Pen Pals: Boone's and Hugo's relationship starts out like this in the first book.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Arctic Floofs, which are introduced in The Monster Detector. They look like fluffy balls of cotton with long ears, thin tales, and the face of a rodent.
  • Stock Ness Monster: In the first book, Hugo and Boone decide to go out on the river to search for the Ogopogo. They eventually see it.
  • Wham Line:Boone lets this out when The Green Whistler is seen with Hugo's grandfather.
Boone: What are you doing here, Grandma?
  • Worthless Treasure Twist: In "The Gremlin's Shoes", while making a delivery to another cavern, Hugo and Boone get caught up in one Sasquatch's treasure hunt. The treasure is a bunch of old toys the Sasquatch and his old friend used to play with.
