James Adkins, more commonly known as RawkHawk64, is an up-and-coming Let's Player on YouTube. Though his channel is small, Rawk does have plans to try and spread his love of gaming to as many people as possible according to his first "State of the Channel" update. To that end, he is working on building friendships with various Let's Players in the hopes of collabing with them and spreading word of his channel.

Watching this YouTuber provides examples of:

  • A God Am I: A joke in Sanctuary RPG
Rawk: Sooo... Cyrus is Jesus, then?
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!!: Has happened on a few occasions.
  • Big "OMG!": Boss fights in Superstar Saga.
Rawk: (after three-shotting Hoohooros with Splash Bros.) "WOOOW! WO-O-O-OW! That was easy!"
  • Big "WHAT?!": Sanctuary RPG, Episode 2
Rawk: (as Mysterious Stranger): Take this syringe and inject it in her crotch."
Rawk: (immediately after) WHAT!? What the fuck!?
    • This one has become a bit of a Running Gag. He calls it the "Rawk Squawk".
    • Then there's the gold moment of his Kaizo LP...
Rawk: (after a Charging Chuck that fell into a pit respawned on him) "What the FUCK!? He just re-fucking-spawned!"
  • Advertisement:
  • Book-Ends: Advance Wars. The first episode had the intro cinematic with his commentary over it. The first part of the finale featured the same.
  • Born Lucky: During his Superstar Saga LP, there was a point where Mario got +4 to his speed on the bonus roulette... three times in a row!
    • Also during the finale of the Advance Wars LP, Sami served her purpose as Canon Fodder for Sturm's CO Power.
    • Subverted alot, as he forgets to save sometimes, especially after the above lucky streak with Mario's Speed.
  • Bring It: He likes to go "kick some ass" for the Superstar Saga boss fights... and he does it too!
  • Buffy Speak: A couple of times, he's used the phrase "X is a thing that exists."
Rawk: "If you're gonna be an Uncle, don't be Grit. Don't leave your... you know, whatever... to go face danger alone."
  • But Thou Must!: He'll usually go along with it.
  • Catchphrase: A few.
    • "What's up, Rawk Flawk? This is the Master Gamer, rawkhawk64!"
    • "Just remember guys, to have fun with life and enjoy it too!"
    • Advertisement:
    • "Not good! Not good! Notgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgood!"
    • "Chicken inspires me." (or some other variant)
  • Cliffhanger: Usually before a boss fight, or moving on to a new area. The biggest one was right before the Cackletta fight in Superstar Saga.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Seen a little bit in his LP's after Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion, but really evident in his Kaizo LP.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Have you seen what he did to Hoohooros and Chuckolator in Superstar Saga? Not to mention the two times he's fought Rookie and Popple... and then there's the poor mooks that he usually goes easy on by not using Bros. Attacks since he likes to save those for bosses.
  • Deadpan Snarker: So obvious, but played for laughs. He even over-exaggerates the snarkiness.
    Rawk: "Ya don't say!"
  • Department of Redundancy Department: "Just remember to have fun with life and enjoy it too!"
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Every time he gets confident about being better than the AI, it'll go badly.
  • Early Installment Weirdness: The number of quality fluctuations of Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion are astounding. So is the lack of jokes. He plans on redoing at least Advance Wars, but not for a while...
  • Epic Fail: He's failed to save his games a few times. Hilarity Ensues.
    • Don't forget the entire Kaizo LP. To be fair, the entire game is built just for that.
Rawk: "This part wasn't that hard." *dies*
  • Everyone Has Standards: Rawk himself in the Ocarina Master Quest LP
Rawk: "It's a suicide note! Oh, God, that was wrong."
  • Face Palm: Averted. In Superstar Saga, he says he would face plant at Bowser's plans for kidnapping Peach if it wasn't for the fact he was wearing his recording headset.
  • Fanboy: The Legend of Zelda series. He has stated that Ocarina is his favorite of the bunch.
  • Fan Community Nickname: He calls his subs "The Rawk Flawk".
  • First-Name Basis: He has never shown his full name, or even his real name outside of a few sites. He prefers "Rawk".
  • Genius Ditz: His plans don't always go as he wants them to (due to his own oversights), but everything works in the end, damn it!
  • Genre Savvy: To an art form. He hasn't shown it much, but he usually knows what's gonna happen. Usually mixed with deadpan snarking.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!!: Averted. In his earlier videos (aside from Kaizo), he avoids cursing. Later, it's very prevalent. This bird has a potty mouth.
  • Heroic BSoD: Happens to him after failing against The Fallen boss in Sanctuary RPG.
    • A better example might be against the The Crusher.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Rawk and his friend Gentleman Lucas in the Advance Wars finale
Lucas: Welcome to Advance Wars: The Musical!
Rawk: Featuring Rawk Hawk 64 and Gentleman Lucas!
    Lucas: Worst musical ever.
    Rawk: Mostly because of me.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Subtle, but the title of one of his Ocarina Master Quest videos is "Don't eat the Rawks (Rocks)". He makes the actual joke after beating Dodongo's Cavern.
  • Let's Play: It's mostly what he does, though he does have a few other videos out.
  • Marathon Boss: He spent half an episode trying to fight The Fallen.
  • Motor Mouth: He can rapidly talk about something, get in a quick sidenote, and the continue on his original thought. It doesn't always work out, though (see Tongue-Tied below).
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Sure, he knows the games he plays. He just doesn't wanna spoil anything.
  • Oh, Crap!: Happens a few times when he dies in Sanctuary RPG. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: A few obscure sites reveal his name, but he's always called "Rawk", and insists that you call him as such.
  • Opening Narration: "What's up, Rawk Flawk? This is the Master Gamer, Rawk Hawk 64, welcoming you (back) to (LP name)!"
  • Perfectly Cromulent Word: Happens quite a lot, actually. Best one is from episode of Superstar Saga, which gave us the golden word "diggle".
  • Performance Anxiety: Like every single Let's Player in existence, Rawk suffers from the "LP Curse". He's Lampshaded it a few times.
  • Rapid-Fire "No!": Not good! Not good! Notgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgood!
  • Running Gag: Since episode 7 of Kaizo, it has been stated (jokingly) that chicken is his inspiration. He now uses it as a reason for an astounding success.
  • The Scrappy: Rawk. Hates. Navi. Every time he hears her "Hey! Listen!", he tells her to shut up. Every time.
  • Self-Deprecation: Played for laughs. In the Advance Wars finale (pt. 3) he states that going to college was better than sitting at home playing video games... he realized that what he does for the channel...
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: He's planning on completing Master Quest 100%.
  • Shown Their Work: He knows pretty much every enemy in Ocarina Master Quest.
    • He also lists enemy stats at the end of some Superstar Saga episodes. Even has a nice "New Bestiary Entry!" header.
    • Don't forget he knows how the enemy AI works in Advance Wars. Not that the knowledge is always helpful...
  • Sir Swears Alot: Every other word may not be an F-Bomb, but he does use quite a bit of profanity. Especially in his videos after Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion. Kaizo falls more into Cluster F-Bomb territory.
  • Springtime for Hitler: More often than not, if he says he'll epically fail... he won't. Most notably in Superstar Saga.
  • That One Boss: The fight with The Fallen in Sanctuary RPG.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: His thoughts on the entire Kaizo LP. He was right...
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Superstar Saga, he has defeated most bosses thus far (sans Cackletta) in three to four turns with his set-up. The issue is, Mario is very frail...
    • Unintentionally played straight against "The Fallen" boss in Sanctuary RPG. After failing against the boss repeatedly, Rawk levels up his character one level off-camera. He then says "fuck it, we're fighting", and proceeds to kick the boss's ass. Cue Big "OMG!".
    • Even better is in Episode 12 of Sanctuary RPG, where he loses to The Machinist, and goofs off a bit. Then, his co-commentator Jenettera convinces him to try to fight The Machinist again... and he kicks ass. Best part is, he didn't even level up until after he beat The Machinist.
  • Tongue-Tied: Happens quite a bit. Lampshaded as "English failing him."
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chicken.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: In reference to a Cucco in Kakariko Village: "Guys, I'm tempted to. You don't know how tempted I am." He does it. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Like-Likes?: He really hates them. Especially in the Jabu-Jabu dungeon in Master Quest.
  • Working Through the Cold: He recorded an update and two episodes of Sanctuary RPG, before taking a break until he had recovered from a summer cold he had at the time.
