"What's going on, guys; I'm Patterrz and welcome back to TV Tropes!"

Patterrz is a Let's Player on YouTube.

Majority of his Let's Plays are of various Pokémon games, though he also plays other games, including ROM Hacks of the Pokémon games and generally played as Nuzlockes or similar added restrictions.

  • "Awesome McCool" Name: Some of the nicknames picked for his Pokémon.
    • McFlurry the Glaceon.
    • TreeRex for Meganium or Venusaur.
    • BassLord for Whismur and its evolutions.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Gets a high-pitched, squeaky voice around cute things like his cat Jasper or his new puppy Lulu.
  • Downer Ending: Whenever he loses a Nuzlocke or his first team for an Eliminationlocke.
  • Early Installment Weirdness: His old LPs are a bit weird to watch now, since he isn't as intent on making jokes and was much calmer, compared to how he is now. Patterrz also talked in a slightly lower voice than nowadays.

  • Earn Your Happy Ending: The point of most of the Nuzlockes, working hard to finish the game with hopefully little to no losses.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: When possible, always calls the protagonist after himself in Pokémon games. Due to limited space, usually has to shorten to 'Patterz'. And the rival is usually called 'Gurry'.
  • Large Ham: Very emotional and open about things, with loud noises quite common out of him.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Gives voices to characters when reading their lines, though several have specific sets for voices. One female character is given a gruff, manly voice and children are generally high-pitched British kids.
  • Running Gag: Offering to take May to McDonald's as a date during various Gen III games.
    • His absolutely hatred for Wingull and its evolution, Pelipper.

    • Gen III Rival, Wally, is always a little bitch. And Norman doesn't care about his own kid, only about Wally.
  • Take That Me: Pokes fun at himself when saying that Gingers, like himself, clearly have no soul.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Every Pokémon Let's Play he does is a Nuzlocke, meaning any fainted Pokémon is considered dead and may not be used again. He also uses variants of the Nuzlocke, including Eliminationlockes and Egglockes, and sometimes adds a randomized feature to what Pokémon are encountered.
    • For Insurgence, he used a Ranklocke. He gives a military Rank to every Pokémon caught and, depending on how useful they are in battle (getting critical hits, defeating trainers, etc) they may Rank up or down. Pokémon with higher ranking get more focus for level grinding; those with lower ranking are more likely to be sacrificed, when necessary.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: Contrary to the cool names above, some of the names he picks are weird to random. Special mention goes to Geoprt the Mantyke.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: His name is Patterrz!

How well does it match the trope?
