Description of the first (and second) video

One day, Alex Kister saw a tweet that claimed that every Analog Horror series is the same thing, with the same jumpscares and such. Alex decided to make the user’s vision a reality, creating…

THE SCRIMBLO CATALOGUE

A parody of Alex’s own Mandela Catalogue, as well as Analog Horror in general, it takes the genre’s tropes and clichés and plays them for laughs.

Currently there are two videos:

There is also this video created by the voice actors for Jude Murray and Thatcher Davis, which is dubbed by Alex Kister as "The Scrimblo Catalogue 2.5".

The Scrimblo catalogue has examples of:

  • Asshole Victim: Mark Heathcliff was cancelled on Twitter because he didn't care about the death of Cesar's mom and said "ok lol who asked".
  • Blatant Lies: The "extremely disturbing" footage we see in the second video is just Alex's disinterested-looking cat moving towards the camera with heavy breathing in the background.
  • Deliberate VHS Quality: As pretty much every Analog Horror series does this, the Scrimblo Catalogue also applies it.
  • Faux Horrific: The second video begins with a disclaimer that viewers are going to see something "very disturbing". It shows a video of cat going towards the camera. The same footage is later shown, but the cat is going backwards and forwards.
  • Foreshadowing: Various elements that are featured here would later appear in the actual Mandela Catalogue, like objectshifting Alternates.
  • Insane Troll Logic: The first video posits that the Mandela Catalogue is in fact Among Us. The reasons for this are: imposters, "?????", as well as Jerma's "sus" face.
  • Lighter and Softer: Exaggerated, the whole purpose of this series is to destroy all of the horror of The Mandela Catalogue.
  • Jump Scare: In the second video, we are in a dark room with Freddy Fazbear's music playing before he's about to kill you. When the lights go out, we are shown the same cat video from before.
  • Mood Whiplash: In both videos:
    • At the end of the first one, we are shown a speedrun on how to make a scary face, while Dream's music is playing. After it's done, we are shown the end result, standing in the darkness, smiling and staring right at you.
    • In the middle of the second one, we are shown text, saying "I am in your walls"note , which is followed by a smiley face. After that, a picture of a head appears in the left top corner, bringing it back to (sort of) scary.
  • Object Shifting: In the first video, an alternate is said to have turned into a car and killed Mark.
  • Phony Newscast: The "spooky scary checklist" from the second video says that a fake news broadcast is mandatory for all Analog Horror series.
  • Self-Deprecation: Fun fact: Mark Heathcliff from the Mandela Catalogue is actually portrayed by Alex Kister. In the second video, after Mark is declared "cancelled", the text on the screen states "also why does he look like this lol".
  • Self-Parody: Mandela Catalogue creator Alex Kister parodies his flagship series as well as Analog Horror in general, while also taking the piss out of the comparison between itself and certain memes.
  • Stock Footage: A scene from LOCAL58 is used when Mark travels to Cesar's house.
  • Undignified Death: Really Mark? Getting run over by an alternate who turned into a car?
