  • In the Buildingverse a lot of people end up with nicknames (there are several nicknamers running around). Sarah got Sar in Girls Next Door (and Boss-lady from the goblins in general); Christine Chris (and Chrissy by Tracy in Roommates); James Jamie; Jareth several bordering on insults (the Glittertwit for example, they don't stick); Mrs. Norrington Mrs. N (by Sarah); Éponine 'Pony; Mistoffelees Misto; Darkness (Big) D. etc..
  • Can You Spare a Quarter?: Jason refers to Graham as "Mr. M", since his real name is "Graham Martin".note
  • Critical Role has a number of cases:
    • From Campaign 1:
      • Several party members go by nicknames: Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia go by Vax and Vex respectively, and, of course, there's Percival Frederickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III. You can call him Percy.
      • Scanlan takes to calling Clarota "Clarence", much to the mindflayer's displeasure.
      • The group calls Keyleth "Your Highness," although that might be her actual title; it's somewhat unclear.
      • Scanlan nicknames two frost trolls "Ace and Gary".
    • From Campaign 2:
      • Again, several party members go by nicknames: Beauregard prefers to be called Beau, Mollymauk outright introduces himself as "Mollymauk Tealeaf, Molly to [his] friends", and guest character Reani is later revealed to be named Reanminere.
      • Other party members don't go by nicknames but get assigned them anyway: Molly calls Beau "[The] Unpleasant One", Jester gets called "Jessie" or "Jess" when she's upset or in danger, and Caduceus gets a whole slew of them, including Cad, Caddy, Caddyshack, Deuces, and Deucey. Nott and Caduceus also have a habit of occasionally addressing their teammates with honorifics like "Mr. Clay" or "Ms. Beau".
      • The NPC Jamedi Cosko is immediately nicknamed "Jumanji Costco" by the players, to Matt's great dismay.
      • After Caleb's Dark and Troubled Past surrounding Trent Ikithon is revealed, Jester immediately nicknames him "Trent Ickythong".
    • From Campaign 3: Fresh Cut Grass is rarely referred to by his full name, his friends instead referring to him as F.C.G., Grass, or Letters. Ashton is also sometimes nicknamed Ash.
  • The Downfall meme has a bunch, but the one most popular in-series nickname belongs to Joseph Goebbels, who is often addressed as "Skeletor" because he is (or at least he is shown in the movie Downfall to be) extremely pale and thin, which many characters believe makes him look half-dead.
  • In Filthy Frank, Frank calls himself "Papa Frank", and Safari Man calls him "Furanku". The fans sometimes refer to Frank by this as well.
  • Many GoAnimate text-to-speech voices mispronounce "Caillou" as either "Kay-loo", "Kay-low", or "Kay-i-you."
  • In Hector's World, everyone has a username. For instance, Ranjeet is Supercrab.
  • Highcraft: "The Boofing of Travesville" gives us "Lord Boofington I" for Logan.
  • In LIS_DEAD, Dramatic Detective and Mysterious Mr. M will call each other DD and M respectively most of the time.
  • Lonelygirl15: Daniel is frequently called "Danielbeast" after the name of his YouTube channel.
  • Minilife TV: Almost everyone at City Hall refers to Nostalgia Bot as "Nosty".
  • In Noob, Golgotha has nicknames for quite a few characters, most of which rely on puns difficult to translate from French.
  • Jay in Pretty Dudes is the only character to call Zario "Zee" and he's also seen calling Marshall "Marshmallow" and "Marsh-swallows" much to the chagrin of Marshall's brother.
    • Jay has an entire thing about nicknames it seems, as he calls his cousin Eugene "Genie" and has nicknames for all of his former girlfriends. Folks he doesn't have name for? The folks he's not close to, like all of the heterosexual Dudes.
    • In the novelization of the first season, Carver has nicknames for his brothers, calling Ellington "Elías" and Marshall "Mars." They call him "Caví."
  • In the Red Panda Adventures, Tagalong Kid Harry Kelly nicknames himself "Eagle Eyes" because of his status as one of the Red Panda's agents. The adult agents humor him because they think it's funny. Later in the series, while helping the Red Panda defeat a crook who was scaring well to do kids into being petty thieves for him, Harry gains a proper codename, the "Black Cap", because of the hat he wears to obscure his identity while operating during this time. After World War II, Harry combines these childhood nicknames into his superhero name, the Black Eagle.
  • Red vs. Blue has many. The characters usually address Freelancers with a shortened version of their callsign.
    • Freelancer Texas is called "Tex" (despite being female).
    • Washington is called "Wash".
    • New York is just "York".
    • The Dakota twins are just referred to as "North" and "South."
    • When Caboose has to deal with Private Donut, he can only seem to remember the other's name as [Military Rank] + [Pastry], leading to a series of nicknames like "Private McMuffin", "Major Cinnamon Bun", or "Commander Pop-'n-Fresh".
  • In RWBY, Weiss seems to get called "Ice Queen" quite a bit. She gets annoyed by this. Two separate guys have also called her "Snow Angel" while flirting.
  • Seen and Not Heard: Bet's full name is Elizabeth. She couldn't pronounce it as a baby, saying "Bet" instead, and the name stuck.
  • Shrapnel: When going to see Toki in the city of Candlesmoke, Reznya refers to her as "the gun bunny" when the guards ask her what she is there for.
  • In Tales from the Gas Station, Jerry is named after his brand of cigarettes, Marlborough, until Jack learns his name.
  • In Worm, Glaistig Uaine uses titles based on their powers to describe various parahumans; most notably, she refers to Taylor as "Queen Administrator."
  • In Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series, Marik calls Yugi Binky-Boy.
