This was inevitable as the series is themed after rainbows. The Rainbow High webseries features a predominantly female cast, so many of their interactions can be well interpreted, intentional or not, as Ship Tease. The series having a great queer following helps matters.

with the girls
  • "Poppy Rowan, Keepin' the Beats Goin'" shows Sunny designed Hi-Hi Kawaii characters after herself, Poppy and Skyler and animated them dancing together during class, a massive sign of affection for her roommates and newfound friends.
    • In that same episode, all three look up from Sunny's phone to take a selfie when the As enter. Skyler lets out a Violet-esque sigh of admiration, and Sunny woos over Avery's new wig.
  • The whole plot of "Amaya's Discovery" is Amaya asking the runaway group girls to exchange clothing articles for a fashion experiment. Many of them trade their hoodies, jackets, and t-shirts.
  • Ms. Wright and Ms. Morton, the two known staff members of Rainbow High, are seen dancing in the hallways to "Turn Your Color Up" in the music video. Wright even gives Poppy a slight smile from the door.
  • During pridemonth 2021, the official rainbow high shared a post with some of the girls wearing purses with prideflags on it. These were the respective flags:
    • Poppy: Lesbian
    • Stella: Bisexual
    • Skyler: Trans
    • Avery: Aromantic
    • Sunny: Pansexual
    • Ruby: The general rainbow
    • Krystal: Asexual

with the boys

  • A brunette boy backgrounder, in particular, is seen proximate to a dyed-pink-haired boy in the Color Block Party.
    • In "All About Aidan", the same brunette boy exclaims "I miss Emerald!" Either he misses the injured athlete for his skill, or... Another backgrounder's previous line indicating he's a school heartthrob feeds the implication.

    Jade and Bella
  • Jade and Bella are one of if not the most popular pairing in the fanbase. Them having a Tomboy and Girly Girl dynamic helps. Plus they're rarely ever depicted without the other in the series until Bella was Put on a Bus.
  • In the How We Got Here opening scene for "When the GLAM Hits The Fan", Jade goes "This never would have happened if Bella was still here!" Bella is mysteriously absent as well. But this scene firmly establishes that Jade has a deep connection with Bella, and retains strong feelings of trust in her even after her expulsion.
  • Already in "The Prize at the End of the Rainbow", although having just met, their verbal interactions can be read as flirting.
  • In "The Gr8 Hairscape" Bella runs to comfort Jade when she fell out of hope. Bella is also the first one to ask Jade to give her a makeover at the end of the episode, and Jade decides to neglect trying to solve the escape room in favor of treating all her friends to one.
  • In "Double Date Disaster", Jade, Bella, Ruby, and Violet arrive at the Color Block Party from their dorm. Jade and Bella are the only two who remain close together throughout the party (Ruby went to look for Colin while Violet waltzed around to vlog the party), and in the next episode "Gurlfriend Take Over" they still remain together. It can be easily interpreted that they were each other's date that night.
  • "Bella's Night Out" gives us Jade trying to convince Bella to not take the risk of getting expelled, although supportive of her dreams she doesn't want her friend to leave. To get Bella's mind off of it, Jade leads her to a night of running around the Rainbow High campus goofing around. At one point they spend time in the salon, while looking into each other's eyes. But Jade's attempts ultimately fails and Bella gets booted. As such Jade's upped cold behavior in the following episodes can be traced back to Bella being absent.
  • While Bella prepares to leave Rainbow High in "Enter Amaya", Jade embraces her. Some viewers pointed out how it seemed like they were about to kiss.
  • The most massive moment of this isn't an onscreen interaction, but Violet using the "Jella" hashtag in "The Vi Life". Twice. With accompanied hearts. Fans have interpreted this as a confirmation that they are canon, meant to be a couple (but downplayed to a Pseudo-Romantic Friendship due to Moral Guardians), and/or Violet is a Shipper on Deck.
  • In the "Turn Your Color Up" music video, for the Color Block Party scene Jade and Bella are in the back of the group-shot selfie with their cheeks pressed together and holding each other's hands.

    Jade and Ruby
  • Jade/Ruby has been a preferred pairing even before the series started, as the two are frequently paired in promotional material. Being both rebellious tomboys aids the dynamic.
  • "When the GLAM Hits The Fan" establishes the duo are roommates, Ruby seems to be already getting along with Jade.
  • Ruby is just as upset as Jade in "Enter Amaya" because of Bella's expulsion. It's well interpreted that Ruby was understanding Jade's turmoil over Bella's leave, and wanted the others to understand how they can't just move on quickly from the incident.
  • The two strike as again as a rebellious duo in "Going Viral", similar to above Ruby helps Jade take revenge against Violet for humiliating Bella.

    Ruby and Skyler
  • Ruby and Skyler have become this after episode 6, "Gurlfriend Take Over". The pairing often Ship Mates with Jade/Bella.
  • Initially the pairing was a case of Ships That Pass in the Night with the character bios. Ruby is a casual and loyal person who supports her friends while Skyler is a Shrinking Violet who would rather have her designs speak for themselves, and many figured they'd have an interesting dynamic.
  • In "Double Date Disaster", Skyler and Ruby plan out to go together to the Color Block Party with Skyler's boyfriend and Colin, the kid from Ruby's class (though both are unaware the two are the same guy).
  • The next episode "Gurlfriend Take Over" is The Ship's Motor. Ruby immediately ditches Colin to comfort the heartbroken Skyler. When Skyler admits she has always thought Colin as her muse, Ruby objects and gives her the confidence boost in her own designing talent. Following after the two give each other small makeovers, Ruby spraypainting their first name initials onto their skirts. The selfie montage at the end, although shows that they both ignored Colin throughout the party in favor of going with their friends, it can be also read as them deciding to go as each other's date instead.

    Skyler and Sunny
  • In "When the GLAM Hits The Fan", Skyler first comforts Sunny when she feels that Violet has abandoned her in favor of making new friends.
  • In "Poppy Rowan, Keepin' the Beats Goin'" and "Double Date Disaster" Sunny is cheerfully supportive of Skyler's relationship with Colin. She is in rightful shock when she realizes Colin is cheating on Skyler with her friend. While she's clearly being a supportive friend here, Sunny can also be seen as being supportive of her crush's relationships, and will not stand for anyone breaking her heart.

    Sunny and Poppy
  • Poppy plays some of her music for Sunny in "When the GLAM Hits The Fan" to cheer her up.
  • In "The Prize at the end of the Rainbow", Sunny admits she loves listening to the music station that played Poppy's music. When Poppy turns the station on, the duo dances in tandem to her music.
  • Sunny answers Avery's questions for Poppy in "Poppy Rown, Keepin' the Beats Goin'". She's being a supportive friend for her roommate or she's being overtly supportive for her crush.
  • In the fanbase, the two being the main cast's resident Genki Girls and being relatively Out of Focus leads to a case of Pair the Spares.

    Sunny and Amaya
  • Sunny is the first person to wholly accept Amaya in "Enter Amaya", and doesn't show any resentment towards her for replacing Bella.
  • In "Amaya's Discovery", Amaya concides with Sunny about her thoughts and feelings.
  • Obviously because of her sweetness Amaya has developed a closer relationship with Sunny than anyone else in the group, but with Sunny's slight rainbow patterns in her hallmark design and Amaya's overall Rainbow Motif...
  • Sunny and Amaya are the only characters that are seen holding hands that often.
  • And they have their entire 'sun and rain' theme going on. Those create a rainbow after all.

    Sunny and Violet
  • Sunny and Violet are established Childhood Friends since the first trailers. This is the catalyst of the support for the relationship, despite Violet's initial Bitch in Sheep's Clothing behavior.
  • In "When the GLAM Hits The Fan" Violet starts "The Vi Life" walking into the Rainbow High campus with Sunny. Sunny was overly excited to dorm with Violet and is heartbroken when they're placed in separate rooms and Violet is seen getting along better with her roommates.
  • Thanks to Poppy and Skyler's encouragement, Sunny doesn't drop faith in Violet and remains sweet with her throughout "The Prize at the End of the Rainbow". In the following "Vi Life", Violet reveals she and Sunny have made up.
  • In "The Gr8 Hairscape", Sunny reveals her love for escape rooms. Violet also reveals they were "super escape artist" partners.

    Violet and Ruby
  • Ruby is the first person to interact with Violet in "When the GLAM Hits The Fan", and gives her a casual introduction despite having just met.
  • In the second "Vi Life", Violet reveals she and Ruby have gotten close as roommates through makeovers. And she presents this with red and purple hearts surrounding them.
  • Ruby's callout over Violet's prioritization of her vlog series over everything else in "Amaya's Discovery", compared to a similar scenario in "Going Viral", is more reminiscent of someone calling out their girlfriend for their terrible habits.

    Violet and Avery
  • Violet jaw-drops at the sight of the As in “When the GLAM Hits The Fan”, primarily at Avery. From that episode onwards it’s established she’s a massive Fangirl over her. It’s well interpreted in the fandom that Violet heavily idolizes the As out of infatuation over Avery.
  • In “Poppy Rowan, Keepin’ the Beats Goin’” when she finds out Poppy is tasked to compose for the As, primarily by Avery, Violet quickly changes her focus from the project at hand to this at the drop of the hat and heavily urges Poppy to solely work on it.

    Avery and Ainsley
  • Out of all the As, Avery and Ainsley are established to be the closest to each other. Ainsley usually only appears as a major character when she’s around Avery.
  • In The Matchmaker Kia’s bio, it’s said it’s rumored she introduced Avery, Ainsley, and Aidan to each other in their first year. It’s meant to be friendship-wise, but it can be also be read as romantic-wise thanks to Kia’s motif more emphasizing romantic love than platonic love.
  • In “The Gr8 Hairscape” and “Double Date Disaster”, Ainsley accompanies Avery to chaperone the runaway group.
  • “All About Aidan” has the most egregious example of the said OT3 nature of the As. Avery and Ainsley are both extremely supportive of Aidan, and Avery even asks her for what to wear while cheering him on.

    Karma and Stella
  • Karma/Stella are also rising in popularity, as their two full appearances depict them inseparable. They are almost never depicted without the other, heck even introduced in the same “Vi Life” episode.
  • “Bring On Rainbow Cheer” reveals both Karma and Stella are members of the Rainbow High cheer team, adding more depth to their proximity.
  • In “Going Viral”, Karma is seen giggling over Violet’s “Bubble Boogie” with Stella, showing they hang out together outside of cheer.

    Karma and Violet

    River and Aidan
  • River and Aidan were a Ship That Passed in the Night the minute the former's doll was leaked for wave 2.
  • A preview to "All About Aidan" released with a clip of Aidan's line "I'm kinda freaking out about tonight..." and Ruby's surprised reaction. Fans initially theorized the episode would be about Aidan coming out and/or going out with River. While they were disproven, in the episode proper River is just as overtly supportive of Aidan as the other As are. River even carries Aidan on his shoulders to boast Rainbow High's playoff victory.
  • In "Amaya's Time", River and Aidan are seen conversing together before Amaya approaches the former.
    Simone and Phaedra
  • Being dawn and dusk themed, the girls coincidentally resemble the bi and lesbian prideflag. Of course this sparked people to headcanon them as sapphic.
  • Simone and Phaedra were portrayed a lot together on promotional material.
  • A shot from Violet's vlog was posted prior to the release of the episode, saying an announcement would be made. This was alluding to the teaser of Paris Hilton's inclusion, but out of context with the respective image, people misinterpret it as the announcement of a wlw couple in the show.
  • As it turns out, they're actually frenemies, but given the fact rivals are often shipped together, that didn't help their case.
     Poppy and Daria
  • They became a ship as soon as Daria was announced as the second character to have a music focus, like Poppy.
  • Later in the show they are shown to be friends, going as far as teaming up for projects together.
  • They also have their butterfly + flower theme going for them.
     Lyric and Vanessa
  • Let's be real, Lyric and Vanessa bicker like an old married couple.
  • Despite their constant arguing, the two are seen to be pretty close. It isn't the first time people start shipping two rivals.
  • Color palette-wise, Carmen's coat has the same colors as the bisexual flag, which quickly got people headcanoning her as bisexual.
