    General
  • Most flashbacks with Yuya and Yusho are this.
  • The third ending, "ARC of Smile!", which shows a number of scenes of the main cast doing things not related to the plot. Seeing people like Reira, Serena, and Kurosaki having fun with the others is just that cute.
  • The number of mythology gags the show puts out. It shows how much the writers care for this franchise.
  • Whenever Yuya and Yuzu share a scene together or are thinking of each other is usually this, depressing, or both.
  • After opening 3, where Yuya does not really smile, opening 4 starts with Yuya very happily riding while dueling.
  • Ending 4 is very heartwarming. It shows all the Lancers as friends, the four bracelet girls holding each others' hands, the You Show school sleeping on the grass, and all of the major players from the Synchro Dimension laying peacefully next to each other. It also shows each pair of the Yuya's and Yuzu's (except Yuri and Serena) sleeping next to each other. Special note goes to the shot of Yuto, Ruri and Kurosaki next to each other. And a shot of Yuri sleeping, showing him not horrifying for once.
  • Ending 5 shows Yuya, Yuzu and Gongenzaka hanging out without the pressure of the dimensional war hanging over their heads for once and just enjoying the time they have with each other
  • Ending 6 is nothing but the counterparts hanging out happily with each other. Even Yuri is with them, more aloof than psycho! It's refreshing to see them having fun together like best friends after all that has happened to them.
    • Yuya and Yuzu hanging out with the You Show Kids again, just like before things got Darker and Edgier.
    • Yugo and Rin working on their D-Wheel together.
    • Yuto acting like a dork when Kurosaki sees him with Ruri. After seeing these three struggle to survive in a war zone, it's a nice change of pace to see them act like actual teens.
    • Yuri trying to talk with Serena instead of acting creepy. Though it gets funny when Serena tries to hit him with her duel disk, the fact Yuri and Serena are even talking civil like is heartwarming in itself.
  • The 6th Opening is full of this. It follows Yuya and the Lancers and their goal to make a brighter future and achieve their goals. It ends with Yuya giving a big performance for almost every character that has appeared in the series, major or minor, all watching Yuya and smiling at his performance.
  • The central theme of the series is one especially considering in the modern world where Darker and Edgier is considered the way to go. A story that goes out of its way to show that anger and aggression is not the way to end violence is extremely heartwarming.
    Season 1
  • Episode 1: Yuzu's care for Yuya is shown early, as she is ready to confront two audience members for insulting him.
  • Episode 3: Gongenzaka helping Yuya pull an all-nighter to get Pendulum Summoning down, and his manly happiness when he succeeds.
    • Additionally, despite being mad at him for sleeping in class, Yuzu is happy that he was able to learn it.
  • Episode 4: Yuzu's and the children's relief and thanks for Yuya saving them from the tower, including a quick Bridal Carry from Stargazer.
  • Episode 5: Yuzu smiling at Yuya almost lovingly, in the Sora interruption montage.
  • Episode 10: The hug that Yuya and Yuzu share after she loses to Masumi.
  • Episode 12: Reiji's angry response to LDS students when they start commenting about Yuya's father, showing his admiration for a man who revolutioned dueling. And the fact that he considers a honor the fact that his duel with Yuya allows him to finally face that dueling style.
  • In Episode 14 and 15, the fact that the LDS students, especially Masumi, care about the missing Professor and want to find him.
  • Episode 17: Yuya is starving and about to lose until his mother arrives and throws his lunch at him. He cries Tears of Joy while eating it and he gains the energy to win the duel.
  • Episode 20: The reveal that Nico's Secret Test of Character for Yuya. Remember, he at first tried to get in the chmpionship by default, until Yuya declined since he considered it unfair. He could have picked mooks or bought his opponents to give him easy victories, instead he understood Yuya's point and helped him getting better. Also, when you think about him, it means he put Yuya against his limits four times in a row and trusted him to be able to win every time.
  • Episode 21: Shuzo being seemingly engrossed in his training when it turns out he's all worried about Yuzu's erratic behavior and skipping duel school, especially considering the YGO franchise has a poor track record of parents doing- well, actual parenting.
  • Episode 23: Yuya and Yuzu's romantic moments. There are even hearts in the background.
  • Episode 24: The LDS student trio's interactions. They definitely are much better friends than they let on in their debut.
    • There's something endearing about Yuto smiling while praising Yuzu's resolution of getting stronger to protect her friends.
  • Episode 25:
    • Gongenzaka protecting Yuya from one of his family's dojo's disciples, regardless of the fact that the boy is actually his senior.
    • After the events of the LDS fight, Sora now respects Gongenzaka's dueling style.
  • Episode 26:
    • All the You Show people coming out to congratulate Yuya, and then Gongenzaka being a Graceful Loser.
    • Gongenzaka has won exactly 60% of his matches. While not impossible to recover from, a loss might have costed him the chance to join the championship. He was ready to take the risk to help a friend.
    • The fact that everyone agreed with hiding from Yuya with the sole purpose of helping him getting better. And that they still wanted to watch him duel, even if that meant hiding.
    • Gongenzaka's dad is still proud of him.
    • Gongenzaka's speech about the need to evolve and improve your style is one too. And the fact that, after witnessing his duel, his father changes his mind and agrees with him despite the fact that he loses the duel.
  • Episode 27:
    • That speech Yuya made when he was chosen to give the oath of fair play.
    • Reiji being the first person who started clapping at the end of his speech.
    • Futoshi's parents being there to cheer for him. Notice that they were still dressed for work, so it's likely that they made time in their agenda to be at their son's first duel. Awww~
  • Episode 28:
    • At the end of the duel, Reiji pats Reira on the head.
    • The You Show crowd constantly supports Ayu.
  • Episode 29:
    • Like before, the You Show group shows constant support for their own, Yuzu.
    • The LDS trio show their friendship again, Yaiba and Hokuto giving Masumi their total support.
    • Yuzu has her monster catch Masumi after the destruction of her monster knocks her off the bridge.
    • In the end Masumi sees Yuzu as a worthy opponent and even gives her a card.
  • Episode 30:
    • Yuya rushes off at full speed to get Gongenzaka's sash back, even if he didn't realize this was Ankokuji's plan.
    • And later returns the sash to him, giving Gongenzaka the morale boost he needs.
    • Yaiba is proud of his student for Synchro Summoning, even Masumi smiles.
    • And after Gongenzaka wins, the bromance continues.
  • Episode 32:
    • Yuya's speech about the crowd being excited, until Sawatari kills it.
      • Sawatari then comes back around, when the crowd is cheering Yuya to Pendulum summon, calling him an Entertainment Duelist and telling him to not let the crowd down.
Sawatari: "It's your turn! You'd better answer to them!"
    • Sawatari subverts Sore Loser and becomes a Graceful Loser instead.
      • More detail on the subject makes it even more heartwarming. After losing, Sawatari seems to revert to his Sore Loser status, but when he hears the crowd cheering for both him and Yuya, he stands up and his face softens. This is especially heartwarming because judging by the competitive nature of LDS, this is probably the first time that he's ever been cheered for after losing a duel.
    • Yuya musing "Father, did I become closer to you?"
  • For all the Nightmare Fuel fest that was Episode 34, it still managed to give a couple of them:
    • Kurosaki declaring in the Resistance he was thought to deal with the worst case scenario and that no one would ever leave their comrades behind even if they were taken away from them, bonus points for the cameras focusing on him allowing Yuto to watch this.
    • Despite having horrified the audience with his dueling and showing his true colors, both Yuya and Yuzu still rush over to a badly injured Sora right after the duel is over.
  • Episode 36:
    • Yuya moving Yuto with his speech on how dueling is supposed to be about having fun and making people happy.
  • Episode 37:
    • Even though Yuto apparently went berserk dueling Yugo, Yuya successfully managed to get him to calm down. Unfortunately, Yugo also went berserk and Yuya was unable to stop him from doing his finishing move.
    • While also a Tear Jerker, the last scene between Yuya and Yuto in this episode has Yuto deciding to give his Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon to Yuya before disappearing, telling him that he believes Yuya can use dueling to bring smiles to everyone. Yuto is even smiling as he tells Yuya this.
  • Episode 38:
    • Yuya being nursed by his mom and Yuzu after he collapsed at the end of the last episode. Yoko's concern shows how much of a good parent she is. She might be the best parent in the whole Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
      • Doubles as a Funny Moment, but Mieru coming to nurse "her darling" as soon as she heard he was in bed is very sweet and shows that she actually cares for him and she's more than just a Smitten Teenage Girl.
    • As funny as it was, seeing Gongenzaka glomp Yuya shows how worried he was about his best friend.
    • Yuya acting like a Cool Big Bro to Futoshi when he lost to Reira.
    • Yoko commenting that Yuya is becoming very similar to Yusho.
  • Episode 39:
    • Even with the entire crowd completely stunned and silent at Yuya's brutal OTK after going into his Superpowered Evil Side, Shuzou still tries to show his support for Yuya.
  • Episode 40
    • Yuya spends most of the episode in a Heroic BSoD and in the end it was Yuzu's ability to cheer up the audience that brought him back to normal.
    • In an odd way, Barrett simply agreeing to go with Serena to Standard Dimension. She's a bit surprised, since he's the first bodyguard to not stop her.
  • Episode 41
    • The You Show Crowd cheering on Yuzu and Yuya when they make it into the final 16, and the two agreeing to be rivals.
    • Sora is hesitant to go after Serena, because she looks like Yuzu, showing a part of him actually does care for his friends.
  • Episode 42
    • Right before the battle royal started, Yuya and Yuzu tell each other to be safe.
    • Yuzu's duel against Halil is one due to how incredibly relaxing it is. Unlike the duels of the previous episodes that were to the death or a war or Yuya's 2 vs 1 duel, its a duel where both parties respect the other.
    • Dennis helping Yuya out.
  • Episode 43:
    • Both the tag duels have some heartwarming moments. From Gongenzaka taking the hit for Yuzu in their tag duel. To Dennis talking down Yuya from going into Berserker Mode.
  • Episode 46:
    • Despite Gongenzaka being reasonably nervous around Berserker Yuya. When Yuya was nearly crushed, he still instantly protected his best friend.
    • Mieru willingness to do anything to help Yuya with Michio willingly helping out, when he found out.
    • Hell, even Teppei helping was this.
    • Serena and Yuzu getting along was nice.
  • Episode 47:
    • Yuzu mentally pleading for Yuya to save her from Yuri.
    • Yugo meeting Yuzu, thinking it's his friend Rin and runs up to hug her.
    • Yuya, processing what Mieru said and remembering his father's words, decides to keep going and trust himself and Yuto.
    • Sora using Yuya's catchphrase when he executes his winning turn showing he still cares for his Standard friends, even if the line is used maliciously.
  • Episode 48:
    • Yuya and Gongenzaka continually look for Yuzu till they find Sora...
    • Yuya and Gongenzaka find Serena and thinks she's Yuzu and Gongenzaka rushes to support Serena, letting Yuya deal with Sora.
    • Crosses with Tear Jerker, but seeing Teppei so depressed at Michio's card shows he did think of Michio as a friend in the end.
    • Just as Yuya briefly loses it and goes berserk again, he remembers Yuto's words and calms down.
    • Futoshi and Ayu giving advice to Tatsuya for his duel with Reira.
  • Episode 49:
    • Blink and you'll miss it, but right at the end of their Duel, when Tatsuya congratulates Reira on a well-earned victory and being similar to Reiji, Reira thanks him and even gives a first-time (and rather bashful) smile!
    • Kurosaki is moved by all the people who has helped him during the Battle Royale.
    • Yuya still holds on Yuto's wish, trying to give Sora his warm smile back, and he summon Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon without going berserk. And it seems to have worked a little bit, since Sora was impressed by the monster, and seemed unsure himself if his true self was the nice kid or the duel soldier.
    Season 2
  • Episode 50: Yuya reveals his inner feelings about Yuzu, that she was always with him, supporting him even when he was bullied, she never left him. She let him evolve pass Pendulum Summoning, he was motivated by her will.

    • Yuya's desire to follow Yuto's last wish.
  • Episode 52:
    • The way Yusho and Yoko met is both awesome and cute!
    • As sad as it is, seeing Shuzou so emotional over his daughter's disappearance to the point he says he wants to go where ever she is just to rescue her really shows how much he loves his daughter.
    • Yoko using the same Spell card Yusho used before. She introduced his teachings about fun duels into her very aggressive style, demostrating how much she loves and respects her husband.
    • There's something endearing in seeing Biker Goddess Red Queen The Legendary Boss smiling.
  • Episode 53:
    • The baby Yuzu flashbacks, ALL OF THEM.
      • This also a Call-Back to an earlier episodes where Yoko said that Shuzou would be more successful if he focus more on his career. We found out that he gave up his potential Duel career to become a father and he never express any bitterness for his decision.
    • Seeing Yuya smile and go back to his Entertainment Persona after a long and dark arc was incredibly nice to see.
    • After the duel, Yoko telling Yuya that he can save Yuzu and find a way to end this war as she and everyone believes in him. Yuya then follows up he'll bring her back and return home.
    • Nico's sadness over Yuya's departure. For all his opportunistic and turncoat tendencies, he did value Yuya not only as a Duelist, but as a friend as well.
    • Yuto somehow talking to Kurosaki, telling him that Yuya is their ally and he would never betray them.
  • Episode 54:
    • Yugo giving Yuzu a handkerchief after she cries.
    • Yugo's dedication to Rin.
    • The resemblance that the dimensional counterparts have to one another is very heartwarming. It's very easy to imagine Yugo and Rin being Yuya and Yuzu, and Yugo looks like Yuya the most in this episode now that he's being sympathetic.
  • Both Episode 55 and Episode 56's preview show Yuya acting like a good brother to a scared Reira.
  • Episode 56:

    • Like before Yuya attempting to be a big brother to Reira.
    • A lot of the scenes between the kids and Reira
    • Shinji's introduction shows him to be a nice guy with a soft spot for kids.
  • Episode 60:
    • Crow's last message to the kids is to not worry about him and to eat properly.
    • It's a blink-and-you-miss-it bit, but when Serena is thrown in the car, Yuya catches her.
    • Yuya's relief when Serena tells him she saw Tsuchikage rescue Reira as they were being arrested.
    • Gongenzaka's joy and relief upon seeing Yuya again. He really cares for his friend.
    • When Yuya is upset that Gongenzaka used cards as money in the prison, Gongenzaka's lackies reveal it was not for selfish reasons like better treatment for themselves, but because they (the two lackies) were being abused because they lost their decks before being sent there.

    • Crow's picture with the kids that Yuya finds.

    • When Reiji, Reira and Tsukikage meet the group again, Yuya's relief at seeing Reira safe shows how much Yuya grew to care for him.
    • Once again, Yuya shows how much he cares for Yuzu and states that he would do anything to help her.
    • The Council telling Tokumatsu that his arresting 10 years ago caused the Commons' youth to revolt so hard that they were forced to create the Friendship Cup as a means to bridge the gap between Tops and Commons.
  • Episode 64:
    • When Yuzu saw Yuya again, she was so happy that she even cried upon realizing that Yuya was in the Synchro Dimension with her. She even happier when he Pendulum Summons, giving her absolute proof that its really Yuya. Also a Tear Jerker.
  • Episode 65:
    • Yuya and Yuzu's concern for each other. Yuzu was worried for Yuya after his duel with Jack and ran like crazy to see him. When Yuya realized that Yuzu was in the same building as him, he first tried to find her, but due to the locked door he instead started screaming how he came to save her and how everyone is worried about her, hoping that she could hear him.
    • Melissa showing sympathy for Yuya when the Tops mock him for losing to Jack earlier.
    • Even if Jack remained aloof through the whole flashback, it was pretty nice of him to stop Security from throwing Sam out of the building and then give him a card.
  • Episode 66:
    • Whenever Gongenzaka would get in trouble, we have split screens of Yuya, Yuzu and, shockingly, Dennis being worried over him.

    • At the end of the duel, Crow and Gongenzaka shake each other's hands.

    • Then there was the ending, where Reiji is proud that Reira is developing his own sense of self even though Reiji knows that their mother wouldn't approve of it. They also share smiles, which can fall into Nightmare Fuel, but is also very heartwarming.
    • Reira holding Reiji's hand. When Reira looks at him, Reiji's hand, at first open, is shown holding Reira's hand back. All and all, Reiji does care for Reira in his own way, and while he might agree with Yuya over Reira being too young, he really thinks fighting experience and his budding sense of self are necessary for Reira to survive the war and have a happier life.
  • Episode 69:
    • Yuya and Yuzu's desire to see each other and Yuzu wanting to show her Entertainment Duel to him.
    • Yuzu using the Catch Phrases of Yuya, her father and Futoshi during her duel with Tokumatsu.
    • Yuya shedding Tears of Joy when he witnesses Yuzu's victory. He also gets inspired by the Entertaiment Duel of Yuzu and Tokumatsu.
    • Both, Yuzu and Tokumatsu, get cheered up by the crowd. Even when he does not win the duel, Tokumatsu gets a big applause by the audience.
  • Episode 70:
    • Yuya still being moved to tears by Tokumatsu and Yuzu reaching out to him.
    • He maybe an antagonist, but Duel Chaser 227 being moved to Tears of Joy over getting a second chance can be this.
    • Jack identifying with Reira, saying that he used to have Reira's Thousand-Yard Stare when he was a kid. He then encourages Reira to duel with confidence.

  • Episode 73:
    • We have Reira apologizing to Reiji and Tsukikage for refusing to duel and wanting Tsukikage to lose. He then promises to be strong enough so that Tsukikage, Reiji and Yuya can watch him, showing that Yuya has become a big brother figure to him.
    • We have Tsukikage coming to Yuya's room and telling him what Reira said and Yuya asking Tsukikage to give a letter to Yuzu.
    • Yuzu getting Yuya's letter, being moved to tears by it.
    • Yuya's montage of his comrades includes Crow, Shinji, Kurosaki, and Serena. Him recognizing all of them is heartwarming in different ways: Crow and Shinji in the short time that he's known them, Kurosaki for pretty much being The Dreaded to him previously, and Serena for how they have disagreed in the past.
  • Episode 75: Kurosaki referring to Yuto as his best friend and mentioning him in his And This Is for...... speech was a nice reminder that Kurosaki does care for Yuto.

    • As odd as it is, Sora and Dennis' meeting. They are very polite and respectful to each other.
  • Episode 77: Yuzu had a lot of people cheering for her in this duel. Special mention goes to Yuya, Yugo, and Serena (who actually smiles a lot here). Even Kurosaki looks somewhat interested. note
    • ... which, of course, brings us to Yuzu's loss. Everyone is horrified and concerned. Even Kurosaki.
  • Episode 78:
    • Yugo is so affected by Yuzu's loss that he's in tears as he promises to carry on her goal.
    • Yuya was so distressed, he tried to knock down the door and when he was finally let out, he actively refused to duel as Yuzu was in danger. It isn't till Shinji spells out to him that they can't do anything. And even then he tried his best to end the duel right away so he could help Yuzu. Crosses over into Tear Jerker.
    • Serena recognizes that Yuya is having difficulties in his duel because of his distraction over Yuzu's condition.

    • Crow and Kurosaki become nakama. With the both of them realizing that they're not so different from each other and cheer each other on in their respective battlefields. Their fistbump is especially this.
    • Yuya watching this is so happy by their friendship starts smiling. As well as him turning Roget down by saying he believes in his friends.
  • Episode 83:
    • When Yuzu and Crow's children are surrounded by Security, Yuzu apologies for getting them involved, but the kids just state she's their friend and they will always protect their friends.

Crow, having seen Yuya in Berserk Mode upfront and the harm he's causing to himself, decides to listen to Sora's plea, voicing that he's Yuya's friend too.
    • Crow never blaming Yuya for defeating him in a duel and being sent Underground, instead he's relieved that Yuya is finally back to normal by the end of the episode.
    • Crow's kids sympathizing with Yuzu's worry for Yuya and trying to comfort her.
    • The worry that Tsukikage, Reira and Serena have for one another; these Lancers have come a long way since they all started (scared, unsocial Reira, arrogant, haughty Serena and serious, stoic Tsukikage) and now all three are doing everything they can to keep one another safe.
  • Episode 89:
    • Sora pulling a Big Damn Heroes moment to save Tsukikage from Obelisk Force. Keep in mind, the last time they met, Tsukikage was just about ready to cause grievous bodily harm to him. This time, it's safe to say they're meeting on much better terms.
    • Reira suffers a PTSD attack when protecting Serena from Obelisk Force, and seems on the verge of breaking down... Cue Yuya crashing through the wall on his D-Wheel to face them. Reira's relieved smile says it all.
    • Sergey putting a hand on the shoulder of one of the Security Officers before he goes to fight Obelisk Force, assuring them he'll take care of them. For such a brutal character, it is surprising.note
  • Episode 90:

    • Yuya promising to protect Serena from danger and voices out loud that he's not giving up Serena to Academia.

      • Yuzu's concern over Yuya's physical and mental health, begging him not to succumb to his dark side; she simply can't stand the idea of losing the Yuya she knows and loves.
    • Serena's Cry for the Devil moment towards Barrett, which also serves to showcase her development by contrasting with her indifference towards him after he was defeated by Reiji.
      • Barrett's dedication to his mission is admirable for a bad guy. The strong implication that he genuinely cares for Serena is all the more moving.
      • Him allowing Yuya to continue their duel despite having him immobilized by his trap and holding an enormous advantage over the boy is also worth noting.
    • Reira clinging to Sora while still under the lingering effects of his Heroic BSoD; to him, Sora coming from Academia means nothing - all that matters is that he helped him.
  • Episode 93:
    • Tokumatsu comforting Reira when he's afraid of Yuya leaving him, once again showing why he's so adored by the Commons' children.
    • Gongenzaka helping his buddy Yuya move along the revolting Commons' crowds.

  • Episode 94:
    • Despite being a lunatic, Sergey breaking free and being able to enjoy his beautiful duel with Jack on his own terms, even as he dies.
      • Also, Jack trying to save him twice, out of honor as a duelist and respect towards another human being's life, however despicable he might be.
    • Yuzu's speech to Roget, telling him an ideal world can only be attained through understanding each other instead of brute force may sound a tad cheesy and even cliché to many, but the fact Jack and Sergey (in his own unique way) then proceed to prove her point by refusing to pick up an Action Card that could lead to either one's victory while agreeing to savor their duel to the fullest, with Sergey finally releasing himself from Roget's control, makes it much more meaningful.
      • Bonus points for her borrowing Yuya's "smiles" allegory.
    • Gongenzaka shedding Manly Tears over Jack's display of integrity.
  • Episode 95:
    • Also being a Funny Moment, Sawatari showing concern for and stopping Tokumatsu from rushing out and getting hurt. Him being a bro to Yuya as counts as well.
    • When Reira hugs Reiji when they're reunited and Reiji is shown to be smiling in return.

Then Crow pulls up beside them, telling Yuya that the entire City is watching the Duel and cheering him on - alongside Shinji and company. Then, it's followed by a small army of Duel Chasers, led by 227. Along with what seems to be every vehicle in the City - all filing into the track, metaphorically and literally backing Yuya up. And when Yuya declares his final attack, the entire City calls it out with him. At this point, the people of the City have dropped all pretense of caring about the distinction between Tops and Commons and are coming together to enjoy the Duel. The City is one, at last - brought together by smiles through Dueling, just as Yuya pledged.
    • After the Duel, the Executive Council makes an announcement to the City, essentially confessing that the true purpose of the Friendship Cup was to maintain the status quo between Tops and Commons, and admitting at last that it was underhanded and cowardly. They then declare that they are stepping down and leaving the City in the hands of the people, having been shown by the Duel between Yuya and Jack a City where Tops and Commons live together in harmony. This announcement is met by thunderous applause from all.

    • Reiji going to catch Reira after he's blown back by the wormhole, showing that despite not being related, Reiji has grown to care for Reira as he would a real brother and does not think of him as some sort of weapon to be exploited like Himeka Akaba does.
    • Gongenzaka, Sawatari, and Kurosaki all attempt to save one another, but to no avail.
    Season 3
  • Episode 100:
    • Yuya finally understanding Reiji's attempts in forming the Lancers.
    • Yuya and his friends defending an innocent family from Academia students, even restoring the mother's faith in Dueling as something to be cherished, not just to fear.
    • Sawatari and Gongenzaka's antics bringing smiles and laughter to the children's faces. Considering all the hell the family has been through, that must've been a welcome relief.
  • Episode 102:
    • Even though Kaito has left his allies for his own, when he sees Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, he immediately accuses Yuya of defeating Yuto and taking the card. Despite attempting to cut off all ties with his former comrades, he still showed concern at the possibility of losing one of them.
    • Kurosaki calls Yuya his friend. Before the Xyz Dimension Arc, Kurosaki showed at best apathy, at worst disdain for Yuya, even willing to confront him after Yuto vanished. To call Yuya his friend shows just how much Kurosaki has changed.
  • Episode 103:
    • Almost all the interactions at the dojo. Allen and Sayaka get along quite well with the Lancers, and the reason that the Resistance found the Lancers was because of the family they rescued when they arrived, who are now safe and sound at the dojo. In addition, Sayaka is shown serving soup at the dojo.
    • Top spot goes to Kurosaki vouching for Yuya despite Yuto's disappearance. Both Yuya and Yuto are quite touched.
    • There's also Yuya lamenting his inability to make Kaito smile and feeling like he won't be able to face either his father or Jack. Even after beating him, Yuya has the utmost respect for the former King.
  • Episode 104:
  • Episode 105:
    • Kurosaki uses Action Cards and details how they are his comrade's powers, thinking about all the Lancers and Crow as his new comrades. Even when he gets a bad one, he still turns it around, saying that even then he will carry the will of fallen comrades with him.
    • Yuya reveals Yuto is inside of him, Kurosaki takes it in stride, having already suspected it.
  • Episode 106:
    • The reunion of Yuzu and Yugo, which has Yugo calling out her name, like he did Rin's back when he would mistake Yuzu and Serena for her, and then attempting a glomp. Particularly because he thought she died almost 30 episodes ago and is extremely happy that it's not the case (even with the immediate Mood Whiplash courtesy of Yuzu's fan).
    • All five of the You Show Duel students that Yuri faces are said to be former soldiers of Academia. Yuri laughs at them and taunts them over their betrayal, but they all firmly believe that they have realized that what they were doing for Academia and the professor was wrong and that they are now using duels to make people smile and feel happy instead of hurting them. It is another glimpse that not everyone from the Fusion dimension is a soulless killer and it is possible to reason with them and show them a better way. Unfortunately it soon turns into a Tearjerker when Yuri defeats them all despite their efforts and turns them into cards.
  • Episode 107:

  • Episode 112:
    • Edo turns his back on Academia and gives a Rousing Speech to the Obelisk soldiers and tells them that what they have been doing is wrong and that they need to rebuild the Xyz dimension and help use duels for smiling, not fighting. All of the Obelisk soldiers, the Tyler Sisters, and Noro agree with him and are seen helping the Resistance in the Xyz dimension. The future of the Xyz dimension is looking brighter than it has in a long time.

    • In the end after Dennis lost, Yusho offered Dennis a chance to redeem himself. It shows just how loving Yusho truly is.
  • Episode 115:
    • A good part of the first half of the episode as Yuzu talks and says how happy she is that Serena is safe and how Serena talks of her loyalty to the group as a Lancer. Course that goes out the window when she betrays them.
    • Sora joining the duel because he was mad at how Yuya was suffering and then he and Yuya acting like Bash Brothers win the duel.
    • Turns out the City is on its way to truly becoming equal and the rest of the Lancers and Crow wanted to help but Shinji and Tokumatsu told them they had work to do.

  • Episode 119:
    • Even though Ruri is infected by the Doctor's Parasite Fusioner, she won't let Academia threaten her brother any further:
Corrupted Ruri: I can deal with that... By sending Parasite Fusioner to the Graveyard, I can negate the destruction... Ah... My hand!
Original Ruri: I won't let you!

  • Episode 122:
    • In typical Entertainment Fashion, Yuya wins his duel against BB and ends up redeeming the poor guy, empathizing with his poor upbringing at Sander's hands. BB is so moved by this that he ends up apologizing for all his actions.
      • Seeing Yuya and BB's monsters having fun playing Paint Ball with one another is pretty nice, since the monsters are representations of their duelists nature, and seeing the Gladiator Beasts outright relax and smile as they play is a wonderful sight to behold.
  • Episode 123:
    • Seeing the lengths that Asuka and Sora will go to in order to protect their friends from Yuri's wrath.
  • Episode 124:
    • Yuto's feelings for Ruri changes Yuya's deck to mirror his own. He even takes over Yuya's body (with Yuya's consent this time), determined to save the girl he cares deeply.
      • The amount of Ship Tease in this episode between Yuto and Ruri. Ever since their first meeting, both duelists have been enamored with one another. It even showcases their date (implied to a romantic one), which ends with Ruri put her head on Yuto's shoulder, both blushing.
      • This is one of the few times in Yu-Gi-Oh! history where both a main male and a main female character have mutual feelings towards each other early on and not just end up being one sided for the most part. note
  • Episode 126:
    • As dark as the episode was we see how deeply Leo cared for Ray, with him watching her duel during work and protecting her when Supreme Dragon King Zarc was attacking. It's shown how deeply he loved his daughter.
    • Take into account that the Bracelet Girls are fragments of Ray. Now consider his treatment of the girls after they were kidnapped, other than Yuzu who was in a cage, they were in some pretty nice rooms all thing considered. • Episode 129:
    • Reiji, the Bracelet Girls and Yusho believe that Yuya and Yuto can fight Zarc off. They keep giving them support that they can win and that they are heroes.

    • When Yuya reveals his strategy to destroy Clear Wing and Starve Venom, he hesitates as it would summon both Dark Rebellion and Odd-Eyes. Yuto tells him it's fine if he's absorbed by the darkness as he's sure Yuya will hang on and save him.
    • As Yuya struggles to remain in control as all four dimension dragons are on the field, we see Yuya remembering each of his loved ones flash before his eyes, giving him the strength to hold on. Each image bears mentioning:
      • The first batch features his parents; his father for inspiring him to duel for the sake of entertaining people and never losing his smile, his mother for always maintaining faith and love within their family.
      • The second batch features his best friend and "rival" Gongenzaka and Sawatari respectively. Yes, even Sawatari is considered important to Yuya.
      • The third batch features the residents of Yuya's favorite Duel School: Shuzo, Ayu, Tatsuya, and Futoshi. Despite his true affiliation and his past actions, Yuya considers Sora part of the school now.
      • The fourth batch features Kurosaki and the participants of the Maiami Championship (Michio, Teppei, Tsukikage, Dennis and Meiru.) This is especially heartwarming as Yuya still remembers Michio and Teppei to this day, considers Tsukikage a valuable friend and member of the Lancers, still thinks of Dennis as a friend despite working for Academia, and even likes Mieru despite her overzealous crush on the guy. Kurosaki stands out the most as he went from bitter rival to trusted friend over the series.
      • The fifth batch features the residents of the Synchro Dimension: Tokumatsu and his child fanbase Frank, Amanda and Tanner. Even Sam is considered part of their lineup now. Crow and Shinji are also included; heartwarming since Yuya still hasn't forgotten Crow since his "carding" and very forgiving towards Shinji despite the latter's previous Jerkass behavior towards him. Then there's JACK ATLAS. The one who pushed Yuya to become KING!
      • The sixth batch features those introduced in the Xyz Dimension, namely Kaito, Allen and Sayaka. Like Kurosaki, Kaito eventually returned to his normal self thanks to Yuya and the latter two for helping Yuya survive when first arriving in the destroyed dimension. Edo and the Tyler Sisters are also considered important in Yuya's thoughts despite just meeting them; thanks to Yuya's optimism and dueling, all three duelists joined the good guys.
      • The seventh image featuring Reiji and Reira, two of the strongest Lancers, with the former being Yuya's true rival and the latter as a surrogate brother to Yuya. Serena is also featured; despite looking like his childhood friend, Yuya considers her her own person and worthy of protecting. With Yuto following after while they might not have met under the greatest of conditions, this shows Yuya truly sees Yuto as a friend.
      • Finally, special notice that the last and longest image Yuya sees is of Yuzu, his best friend and most important person.
  • Episode 135:
    • As a result of Yuri's direct attack, Yuya is thrown down and only has 600 lifepoints. Reiji holds him up while Sora, Reira and Edo defend him against Yuri till he can stand up by himself.
      • When Yuri attempts to resume the duel, all four of them start their duel disks, showing they refuse to allow Yuya to duel alone. Sadly Yuri shots them down, but the thought still mattered.
    • As Yuya breaks down, feeling that he can't win. Reiji gives a great Get A Hold Of Yourself Man speech that states Yusho did everything to save him and by giving him, he's truly throwing away Yusho's spirit. He states that as the Pendulum innovator, he can win this duel with Reira, Sora and Edo agreeing.
    • Yuya's final move has him not only regaining Dark Rebellion back but also taking Clear Wing under his control. He then uses all three dragons to defeat Yuri, while Reira states as Yuya, Yuto and Yugo working together to defeat Yuri.

    • Despite the depressing episode, Sora and Edo are shown to be bonding as they attempt to save Yuya from Zarc.

    • When Zarc was going to do his winning move, we see both Himika and Leo were worried about him. It's nice to see that Leo's still does care about his son.
    • Yuzu gives a great Rousing Speech telling Yuya that he isn't a devil, he's someone that makes people smile. That he kept chasing her and because he was there, she was able to grow stronger.
  • Episode 141:
    • While it doesn't last it's nice to see that everything has turned back to normal.
    • Seeing Hokuto, Michio, Teppei and Yusho free is enough to make you cry a bit.
    • We realize the reason that Reiji is doing all this to make Yuya remember is because he thinks that Yuya can make Reira smile.
      • The fact we see that Himika finally cares for Reira. Wanting Reira to be happy and being horrified about the possibility that it's impossible.
