What? Just because an AU is about Rape as Backstory it can’t have cute and heartwarming moments?

  • In general, the fact that certain characters in the group speakers (Donald, Webby, Lincoln etc), were never raped or sexually harassed, but they were just as affected as their friends or family.
  • Maid Marian ended up having to knock on the hotel window of a random couple. Thank goodness that couple just so happened to be Mickey and Minnie, who did everything in their power to help her.
  • In Kuzco’s story he and Pacha meet when Kuzco jumps in front of his car. Pacha understands Spanish and it’s the first time Kuzco is cut some slack, as Pacha ends up being the one to save him.
    • It's also nice that in this universe, Kuzco has a loving living parent in his father, who put his son's need to stay in America until the people who trafficked him are completely taken care of over his own desire to bring his son home. He also completely trusts Pacha with Kuzco's safety after the above rescue.
    • Kuzco himself has someone he wants to protect in America, Minty Sakura, a child Sex Slave who befriended him during his captivity. He's admitted to Pacha finding a way to get her free is his main motivation for staying in America and he's determined to do everything he can to protect and find her.
    • It doesn't happen until later, but when Malina discovers Kuzco's past after they walk past someone he thinks raped him while he was in the Ark, her first reaction is to offer to beat the guy up.
  • Mr. Tweedy, here a transgender woman who’s known as the Bride in fic, has a surprising amount of them.
    • She had an older brother who, particularly given the time period her story is set in, is very supportive of his younger sister. While this is ultimately bittersweet due to his untimely end, it’s nice to know she was supported by family members during the earliest stages of her life.
    • In addition, while she was hitchhiking, she came across a certain bald headed man who offered her a ride to the nearest town and ultimately ended up offering her a job and a place to stay since her farm was inoperable and uninhabitable. Guess who she’s engaged to in the present day?
      • Topping it off, her now fiancé was not only completely supportive of her Transgender identity, but was also the one who found the support group when he found out she’d been raped.
  • Despite not liking Peter's Troubling Unchildlike Behavior and not approving of Wendy's friendship with him, when Wendy tells her parents exactly what Peter's father is doing to him, her father gets murderously angry and both he and his wife insist on becoming Peter's foster parents.
  • Riley opens their story by saying their mom remembered to use "they" instead of "she" and then continues to explain that their family has been completely supportive of their identity.
    • The emotions are transformed into Riley's aunts and uncles and are not only completely cool but all fiercely protective of them, especially Anger.
  • Wilbur's relationship with his family is a wonderful thing.
    • Carl is clearly eager to be a Cool Big Bro to his mentor's son and after some time of Wilbur rebuffing him in jealousy, agreeing not to tell Cornelius and Franny about Wilbur getting home way after curfew warms Wilbur to him; Wilbur is adamant that there is no way Carl could ever hurt him and the only reason that Carl's acting as a Secret-Keeper is because of how upsetting Wilbur's assault was and is for him. Carl is even the one who got him to come to the group and came up with a believable cover story so Wilbur doesn't have to say anything until he's ready.
    • When Wilbur is compelled to ask Franny if she and Cornelius wish he was more like them, Franny quickly assures him that they love him just the way he is and he's the best thing about their lives. Sure this had the effect of further convincing Wilbur not to tell her what happened to him but he needed to hear it.
  • When Merida tells her side of her story, she closes by saying that despite all her trauma and despite Elinor's fears, she doesn't hate her mother.
  • Skipper uses his story to drop the anvil that being victimized is NEVER the victim's fault because not even his immense training and skill saved him.
  • Noir, Peter Porker, Peni and Gwen are here part of Miles' Peter's family and are almost immediately in his hospital room.
  • Korra is adamant that the idea of trying to break Mako and Asami up was and is sickening and Mako handles his break ups with both girls and their subsequent hooking up with each other decently well. He's even gung-ho to help her escape her parents' suffocating house after her attack. And Asami's proposed to Korra.
  • Despite Bagheera's belief that he's nothing but a bad influence on Mowgli, Baloo stands by the social worker through his entire ordeal and the aftermath; as of Bagheera's chapter, the pair are a couple and Baloo is willing to take their relationship at whatever pace Bagheera needs to set. As of Kubo's chapter, they're now sharing a bed.
  • Despite Zim's treatment of him, Dib was legitimately worried about his classmate, even before finding out about his abuse and Zim, in his own way, is touched that Dib cared enough to see him saved, telling him that when he takes over Earth, he will be merciful to Dib.
  • When Ginger ends up in the same facility as Tulio, he takes the girl under his wing, protecting her as best he can. Then when the pair meet Rocky, they're both in agreement he's coming with them when they escape. Ginger ends up ultimately rescued by Scrooge, who shelters her in his home while she recovers, while Tulio and Rocky not only found help at a Russian embassy but Tulio and Miguel were reunited.
  • While Gru "adopting" Margo, Edith and Agnes wasn't for altruistic reasons, when Margo propositions him one night, Gru is horrified as he insists that he would NEVER do that to any of them and becomes the first adult to ask permission to touch her when he tries to calm her during her break down over this reveal. Now he's a devoted father trying to bring his oldest home the only way he can by coming to the group and reaching out.
  • Wendy is clearly the only bright spot in Peter's past and nearly everything he says about her is praise, with the one exception being light friendly teasing.
  • In spite of their bickering on stage, it's made painfully clear that Duncan and Courtney are completely devoted to each other, with Duncan even getting revenge on Courtney's rapists on her behalf.
  • Elphaba refuses to blame Simon for what he did to her and is coming to the group so she can do the good work of being a CNA without her trauma affecting her too much.
  • When Ford unloads all his trauma on Mabel, she suggests that he come to the Palace for help and clearly doesn't blame him for what happened to her.
  • For all his flaws, when Amos comes across the Honeybees, he's quickly concerned and does his best to get them the help they need.
  • The Palace members all have adopted Nuka and Vitani, with Vitani herself having taken to Boo and acting like a Cool Big Sis for the tiny girl, with Denahi acting as their guardian after Zira's arrest.
  • When Remy's dad found Fiddleford in his dump, he helps him clean up and tend his wounds and ultimately sends him to the Palace.
  • Mr. Crosswire immediately believed Muffy relaying DW's story of her abuse despite being friends with the younger girl's abuser and called the police. Muffy herself swallows her fear long enough to comfort DW and stays with her until the police arrive, the first real company she's had since Nadine was taken away.
  • Not only is the Radiator Springs gang looking after Lightning but Basil, here an old schoolmate, sent Lightning a card telling him that Basil is worried about his well-being, despite them not having seen each other or spoken in years, and that he should seek help.
    • More than that, Basil helps Lightning with no hesitation despite Lightning being the one who originally got him hooked on cocaine when he was fifteen.
  • Vixy talks Todd down from jumping after claiming him as her boyfriend for no reason other than she didn't want him to hurt himself and the pair did eventually start dating.
  • Stoick steps up mightily as a Papa Wolf, intimidating a cop who tries to question Hiccup's story and killing to protect the boy. And in the aftermath, Ruffnut turns out to have suffered in a similar manner to Hiccup and reaches out to him when they bump into each other in the school halls, leading to a friendship with her, Tuffnut, Fishlegs, Snotlout and Astrid, with Astrid ultimately progressing to a loving girlfriend.
  • Despite everything else going wrong in his life, Chicken Little still had Abby, Runt and Fish to cheer him on for his baseball efforts and to be concerned about his strange behavior. And while it breaks their hearts to hear what he suffered, they all believe him and give him whatever support they can.
  • Even though Rocky has been badly damaged by his time as a Sex Slave, Foghorn couldn't be happier to have his son back and is willing to do whatever it takes to help Rocky start anew.
  • Even though they can't fix his problems, Cosmo and Wanda still do what they can for Timmy and it's clear that they're about the only bright spots in his life.
  • Rita immediately believes Roddy when he tells her how he came to be in Toad's "care", comforting him in the aftermath and taking extreme personal risk to bring him home, even following him to America and leaving her family behind.
  • Penny and her father have a genuinely loving relationship and she's clearly happy with her life and friends despite the hardships she's suffered.
    • In this AU, Penny is trans and the "I'm not a real girl" moment of her original canon here is the also trans Ruby revealing this to Penny.
    • Penny's memories show that Gromit and Wilbur were among her childhood playmates as well as honorary family and there's not a hint that either of them, nor any other honorary family member, was anything less than completely supportive of her.
  • Tramp met Lady saving her from Hans and the pair genuinely love each other, with Lady being excited about their baby. She's also openly grateful to Mulan for her part in the truth about Tramp coming out and offers to use her family's money and connections in any way the Palace crew needs.
    • Background details reveal that the case against Danny has had new evidence come to light and with Basil's smirk, we can infer he was involved.
  • Link and Adelina have been staying with Lionel while he recovers and he couldn't be more grateful to them. And Dr. Dillamond helped him find the Palace to help him recover.
  • Despite his outcast status at work, Milo does have friends who care deeply about him and he and Kida are engaged. He and Lionel have even become a kind of friends due to their shared trauma, with Lionel even inviting him to the Palace.
  • Chel ends up taking Kenai and Koda under her wing when they end up in the same section of the brothel and even goes out of her way to reunite Kenai with his brother, who repays her by reuniting her with Tulio and Miguel.
  • Kenai has clearly adopted Koda and the feeling is obviously mutual, what with the younger boy insisting that Kenai shouldn't call himself a monster.
  • Despite all the rocky parts, Huan is making amends with his family and even the exception, Bataar Jr., is genuinely sorry for what he did and while Huan isn't ready to forgive him, he knows Bataar Jr. didn't intend for him to come to harm.
    • While it's only a hypothetical, Huan notes that if Medusa was real and came to the Palace, she'd instantly be welcomed, comforted and protected.
  • Despite their differences, Jackson and Holt clearly love each other dearly and their mother, while flawed, is fiercely protective of them both and never doubted their stories about Holt's assault.
  • Sawyer is helping Danny rebuild his life after Basil very deliberately cleared him of his charges and their relationship is tentatively blooming again.
  • Asami has promised to help Mako pay for his HIV treatments and she and Korra have gently pushed him to coming to the Palace because they want him to be able to move on with his life.
  • Neo and Roman are completely devoted to each other, with Neo only being in the Palace in the first place because she wants to help Roman get over his trauma. Said trauma only really happened because he was willing to let himself get arrested in order to protect Neo.
  • "Denahi's Wolf Pups" centers around Denahi interacting with the younger members of the Palace and being a Cool Big Bro to all of them. While it has some tense moments via Denahi's flashbacks, it's overall a piece meant to emphasize the True Companions nature of the Palace.
  • “In Marm’s Way” is all about Wilhelmina informally adopting some of the Palace members, and it’s very much adorable.
    • The first one sees her taking in Jack Kelly where he had previously been homeless simply because he returned her purse and explained his current homeless situation, seemingly without a second thought.
    • The second chapter is one with none other than Basil Baker where it’s revealed that the two were previously aunt/nephew through Wilhelmina’s ex-wife. Wilhelmina proceeds to tell Basil that even though they’re technically no longer related due to her divorce, she still deeply cares for him, going so far as to claim she would have loved to have a son that turned out like him.
    • While her initial reaction to Dodger trying to swipe the pearls that are her last memento of her late brother is violent, after hearing a mental voice that sounds like said brother beseeching her to "look at him", Wilhelmina sees Dodger for what he is: a terrified child who's only after the pearls from desperation. She calms him down enough to get his story and then puts him in contact with Fagin, whose freedom he and the rest of the gang have been trying to buy (due to obviously being unaware Scrooge had saved Fagin from the Ark), after which she drags him open for dinner. Later, she offers the same safety to the rest of the gang when they come to rescue Dodger (and also Rita, who initially came alone, decided to stay and forgot to tell Einstein, Tito, Francis and Oliver this).
  • Lincoln ends his story with a remark about how he doesn't really fit in with his sisters. Their response is to immediately reassure him.
Lincoln: "Y’know, nothing rhymes with orange.”
    Luan: "‘Bizarre enj-oyment’."
Lisa: "Sporange. It’s part of a fern.”
Lincoln: “Way to go, guys, you ruined my symbolism."
  • Why did Ivy choose to name herself after Carmen? Because she highly looks up to her and thinks she's awesome.
  • The "Friends" side story is cute enough, but one chapter in particular sticks out. In it, Lena approaches Riley, asking first asking if they are okay (because she saw Riley leave the Palace with the McDucks) and then asking if the Palace is for sexual abuse only or for all abuse. While Riley admits that it's just for sexual, they do tell Lena that she shouldn't be worried about Beakley rejecting her for trying to tell her about Magica abusing her and also comes out to her as nonbinary. Lena completely accepts them and the two pledge to help each other deal with their trauma.
  • "Coming Out" also has it's moments:
    • Elsa and Anna both completely accept each other for who they are.
    • Bataar Jr, while a bit of a Jerkass, is revealed to have broken things off with Kuvira, partially because of what happened to Huan and is quick to reassure his brother that his assault "doesn't count" in regard to his sexuality. Of course Huan is actually gay, but it's the thought that counts.
  • "I Love You" is built on Heartwarming. It's exactly what it sounds like: various characters telling others that they love them, either romantically or platonically.
  • "From The Mouth Of Babes" also has several cute moments.
    • In spite of how uncomfortable some of the questions make them, the members getting questioned are still willing to answer the kids.
    • Pepe assures Mertle that, much like he did, she's just someone who made a mistake and is in no way a monster. Mertle, in response, hugs him.
    • Lola asks Rey how she does her hair because she really likes it. Rey, for her part, is flattered and once she shares her story, offers to do Lola's hair the same way. She also tells her that she's nothing like Darla Dimple since she didn't know what would happen to Lori and that she feels bad about lying.
    • When Sasha tells Ginger and Nancy that she hurts herself because she thinks she's ugly, they tell her that she isn't, and even if she was, she doesn't deserve to be hurt just because of it. They advise that she tell a grownup about how she feels and accompany her when she goes up to talk to Baymax.
    • When Edith proposes the idea that Agnes could be her daughter to Della, Della admits that she would be interested in building a relationship with her, but doesn't want to take her away from Edith or Gru.
  • In Shard Times, when Geumsaegi finds Jasper in an alley after a video of her losing it at Pink Diamond Resort goes viral, he treats her to lunch and offers to hook her up with a job at WaddleWorld because he sees a lot of himself in her and feels that she can change for the better like how he did. Come Day Jobs and it's shown that not only did she take him up on it, but the two are rather friendly with each other and Jasper has mellowed out somewhat as well.
  • "Cat Out of the Bag"
    • After Massimo hears from Pinocchio, Mermando, and Huckleberry that the Coach was Alberto's father and he had tried to drown him for being too old, he promptly walks up to Bagheera and asks how he can adopt the boy.
    • It's a small moment, but when Top Cat reports Warden Synder to Dibble, he almost calls him "dad". Considering how Dibble looked out for him ever since he was a kid being neglected by his parents, it's sweet that he sees him as a father figure.
  • While Part 4 is among the bleaker stories, by reading between the lines, one can realize that Luz has been returned home and reunited with her mother, which, after all the trauma she endured, is the closest thing she's getting to a happy ending.
