Heartwarming / Where the Heart Is

• "There isn't anyone better than you."
• Ernie, Lexie's eventual husband, was involved with a woman who had a daughter. She didn't care about her daughter but was planning to take her due to knowing how much Ernie loved her. Ernie gave her an expensive car that was his pride and joy so that the daughter could stay with him. Lexie realised that Ernie was the man she wanted to spend her life with and be the stepfather to her children when he told her all this.
  • What makes the moment even more heartwarming? The daughter Ernie loves so much isn't his biological daughter.
• Novalee brings Americus to see Forney after getting out of the hospital and takes his beanie off to take a picture of them together. He never wears it again.
• Novalee comes to the library to read about photography. When she runs to the bathroom, Forney nervously sets up a chair next to where she was sitting and pretends to look over her shoulder and practice having a conversation.
• Forney almost getting to admit his feelings when Novalee wonders if she deserved Americus being abducted because she wasn't married when she had the baby.
  "Do you really think this is what you deserve? Let me tell you about what you deserve, Novalee. If it were up to me-*police sirens*"
• Forney with Americus, full stop.
• Americus's birth right under Sister's (Thelma's) in the "Births" column of the Husband family Bible. Easy to miss as it's only visible as Novalee enters Sister Husband's death into the other page.
• Sister leaves her entire estate to Novalee, who uses it to build a new house right where Sister's trailer stood.
