Heartwarming / Whale Talk

• Andy Mott's offer to swim in all of Simon De Long's events so the audience is staring at him rather than Simon is a sweet moment that shows that Andy really does have a heart.
• Everyone cheering for Chris during the team's last meet because they know his story and that he needs support.
• The whole Bait-and-Switch scene with Judy, Chris's aunt, where she tells TJ how much he's improved Chris's life and that he's Chris's hero.
• TJ saving Chris from Mike Barbour and telling him he can wear his brother's jacket any time he likes.
• All the scenes with TJ and Carly- it's heartwarming how much they love each other.
• TJ's dad taking a bullet for Heidi, which he regards as officially getting back the balance after he killed a baby with his truck. Doubles as a Tear Jerker.
• The way Heidi adores TJ.
  • Also, how she begins to love Mr. Jones, too, despite her bad experience with dads, after he eats fries off the floor with her.
• Georgia continuing to look out for TJ and talk to him about his problems even after he officially got off her caseload.
• The other teams staying in the water until the Mermen get out so they don't feel bad.
• TJ meeting Kyle, the son his father had with widow Stacy Couples, after his dad dies. Kyle is so much like whale-loving, determined-to-do-right Mr. Jones that it helps with the pain that readers and TJ inevitably feel after Mr. Jones' death.
• The scene in which all the Mermen are helping each other with school- Chris and Simon doing a biology coloring book, Jackie reading the periodic table to Tay-Roy, and especially TJ and Dan helping Andy pass his classes.
