"All this history...you let us old folks worry about that. Whatever we do, we do it because we love you."
Toshinori Yagi, aka All Might to Izuku, Chapter 20
Like its canon counterpart, Viridescent is full of many moments that can melt even the coldest of hearts. From a child's interactions with her guardians to the promise of rehabilitation for a sadistic murderer, this fan work will warm the souls of many viewers.

In General

  • Izuku and Katsuki's relationship in this story. Unlike in the canon series, the two of them remain best friends throughout their entire lives.
  • In this story, Izuku and All Might have many more moments between them than in canon.
  • Toshinori and Inko remain good friends after their relationship ended long ago. It's gratifyingly easy, considering they both love Izuku and Izuku loves both of them.
  • Katsuki and Momo. Who saw this coming?

In Viridescent

  • In Chapter 1, All Might accepts Izuku as his successor despite the fact that the boy is the son of his most hated enemy.
  • In Chapter 7, Eri's showered with love and care by the Midoriyas post her rescue.
    • Later on that night when Inko bathes Eri, there's no separating the child from her protector, as shown by her clinging to Izuku, despite his embarassment.
  • In Chapter 8, Izuku comforts Eri after she uses her Quirk to rewind a tree out of existence. He compliments her hair, her eyes, her nose, and then his pulls his perfected All Might face to make her laugh.
    • This actually doubles as Funny, when you think about it.
  • In Chapter 10, Katsuki tells Izuku that he's not afraid of him, which causes Izuku to accept the power that came from his father's side of the family.
  • In Chapter 14, Katsuki yells this to rouse Izuku, and it works... briefly.
  • In Chapter 16, Ochako, Tsuyu, and Midnight comfort Izuku after his secret is revealed and he becomes the outcast he always feared he would be. This could double as Tear Jerker, however...
  • In Chapter 20, Izuku comes home from his internship for family dinnertime with Inko, Eri, and- All Might?!
    • Izuku's just as happy to see Eri as she is to see him, and doesn't she look adorable in that All Might hoodie?
      • Izuku gets one, too.
    • Izuku getting a hug sandwich from Toshinori and his mom.
      • The page quote preceded the hug and all but cemented Toshinori as the male role model Izuku needed in his life.
    • All Might carrying Izuku to his room after the latter dozes off in his arms only makes it better. Inko's a joyful wreck at this point.
  • In Chapter 21, Momo snaps Izuku out of his depressed state and helps to defeat Aizawa and pass their final exam.
  • In Chapter 26, Izuku decides to rehabilitate Himiko, despite the latter's self-depreciation.
  • In Chapter 29, Izuku names All Might his father figure. The touching moment quickly fades, considering Izuku deliberately made his father angry with him.
    • Best Jeanist saves Izuku's life without any hesitation despite knowing the boy is the son of Heat Viper. Makes it even better is that Best Jeanist is one of the few people in the story who doesn't hate Izuku simply because of who he's related to.
  • In Chapter 30, Izuku wakes up post the life-saving surgery needed to save his life after fighting Hisashi. He's surrounded by the people he loves, and they're all happy to see him.
  • In Chapter 31, Eri and Izuku are talking with each other since Izuku's rescue. He banishes her fears by kissing her head and telling her that he loves her. It's almost painfully obvious how much Eri and Izuku love each other, but this marks the first time he says so.
  • In Chapter 34, Izuku and Toshinori talk about the former's desire to help Himiko recover. When it's time to leave, Izuku replies with "Yes, dad." It's purely accidental and Izuku leaves after quickly stammering an apology, but it came out so naturally that it touched Toshinori deeply.
  • In Chapter 38, Izuku crosses the threshold between big brother and father when Eri has a night terror. Ochako's there to help bathe and dress her, and due to Eri's accident, they spend the night in her room, making the scene for the page image.
    • Dabi actually encourages and coaches Hisashi to rise above his difficult relationship with Izuku, telling him that he's at least trying to not be harmful.
  • In Chapter 45, Izuku is recovering from his fight with Hisashi and Ochako floats herself to his room, and gives him a desperately needed hug.
    • It speaks to the amount of trust Izuku has in Ochako when he decides to come clean about everything that he'd been going through since getting kidnapped by the League, from Himiko's recovery to Eri's misery at Chisaki's hand.
  • In Chapter 46, Eri demonstrates an increased amount of progress in controlling her quirk. Izuku and All Might are quick to praise her for it. She's embarrassed, but can't fight her smile at their kind words.
    • Izuku and Eri saying goodbye until next weekend. She even gives him a kiss!
    • Katsuki gets a hug from Eri, who has begun to call him "Kat."
  • In Chapter 49, Tomura declares war on Overhaul and Eight Precepts of Death after learning not only of Overhaul's attempt to take back Eri, but also what he'd been doing to her before Izuku rescued her.
    • "Like Spinner said, [for context] screw this guy."
  • In Chapter 52, Izuku kisses Eri on her forehead before heading off for the raid and gives her an Affectionate Nickname: "Love Bug."
    • Right before he leaves, Katsuki hugs Izuku tightly.
    • Katsuki and Momo entertaining Eri while Izuku is gone with a game of tag. It doesn't last.
  • In Chapter 57, Ochako and Himiko bond over Izuku, using his embarrassment at their hands as common ground.
  • The simple fact that Himiko trusts Izuku enough to let him see her memories during the Memory Drift in Chapter 58.
    • What happens AFTER Himiko remembers her family, however, could be considered nightmare fuel.
