Heartwarming / The Rock Cocks

Go To

  • When Suria reveals her fantasy of having sex in front of an audience, she gets uncharacteristically shy and embarrassed, apologizing to Steg for being "weird" and telling him to just forget it. The next page reveals Steg has stopped the van to show Suria exactly what he thinks of her fantasy, and they end up spending the rest of the night like that.
  • The development of Dakota's friendship with Suria and Steg over Track 7 and 8 is incredibly sweet. Dakota is introduced as a shy young man lacking self-worth and stuck in a dead-end job. Meeting The Rock Cocks helps him to get confidence- both the confidence to be happy in his own skin and the confidence to leave his tour guide job to join The Rock Cocks.
    • The scene with Dakota letting Suria on the bus to get her clothes is particularly cute. First, when Suria gets worried she's making Dakota uncomfortable for walking around naked, he tells her that he finds Steg and her inspiring in how confident they are. This flusters Suria, who tells Dakota that he's "really comfortable to be naked around." A bit later, when Dakota starts dumping on himself, Suria tells him he's plenty interesting and attractive, something he seems rather surprised to hear.
    • After burning the old van and hearing one of their songs on the radio, Suria declares the three of them should celebrate, barely batting an eyelash when it starts raining. She and Steg strip down and even Dakota feels comfortable enough to strip to his underwear, and the three have a long extended scene of just messing around in the rain.
  • After over 100 pages the music video finally gets completed, and everyone's extraordinarily pleased with the end results (Steg even cries a bit!), taking a moment to hold a small celebration.
  • Track 12 reveals that, no matter how rude they are to Steg and Suria, Billy and Emily's love for each other is nothing but genuine and actually quite sweet.
  • In Track 13 when Suria finally voices all of her doubts, she apologizes for being a downer, but nobody is having it. Clover, Coral, and Dakota remind her of how she helped them all when they were at the end of their ropes and tell her to stay positive. When Suria asks Steg what she thinks, he tells her it doesn't matter if the parade or even the band as a whole will be a success or not, because no matter what he'll be there for her.
Steg: We're bandmates through thick and thin. I'll keep the beat, and you march on until we make it.
