  • Mr Garland and Emma's father-daughter relationship is incredibly sweet. Both clearly get along very well and respect and care for each other deeply. Though they sometimes argue, he is shown to be proud of Emma when she does what's right, even if it breaks the rules, he's even proud of her when she goes against him, as seen in episode three. Mr. Garland is shown to go out of his way to protect Emma, such as in episode two when he hides the fact that he could get fired from her and also in episode five when he threatens Freddie after he breaks Emma's heart. Mr Garland also gives Emma the job of assistant manager. While this can be seen as nepotism, she is very capable doing the job, and he trusts her with organising big events, such as a wedding and the hotels fiftieth anniversary celebrations. The "well done" he gives her in episode eight when the fiftieth anniversary celebration she organised is a success is very heartwarming.

  • Emma and Betsey's friendship is another heartwarming aspect of the show. In many shows, female characters are often rivals and try to bring each other down, but Emma and Betsey, despite their somewhat different personalities get along well. Emma looks out for Betsey, such as hiding the fact she was sleeping in a hotel room in episode one. Betsey also looks out for Emma and gives her advice on situations such as her love life. They are shown going out together and having a good time, and their friendship is a very strong one.

  • Toby and Adil. Their relationship is the sweetest thing and is a very positive thing. They clearly love each other and are both absolutely adorable together. Toby is only negative about it when he believes he could get arrested and later states he didn't mean any of those things. Toby also races to save Adil and succeeds, smashing the bury your gays trope into tiny pieces in the process and melting hearts everywhere when they hug when Adil wakes up. What Toby says about their first kiss is a noticeably sweet line:
Toby: I'm meant to be clever. Know how to analyse things and break them down to understand all the patterns. pause But I have never made sense... until yesterday.

  • The relationship between the hotel staff in general, they are essentially like one big family and there are many heartwarming moments between them during the series. From the way Mr Garland goes out of his way for his staff such as tracking down Max's family for him to the friendly manner in which they interact with each other, it's clear there's a deep bond between them all. In episode two, Mr Feldman offers to let Mr Garland stay with him if he loses his job and later in the episode he tracks Mr Garland down and manages to stop him before he loses too much money gambling. The staff even organise a surprise birthday party for Billy in episode three.
