Heartwarming / The Dom Reviews

Go To

  • The Dom reacting to hitting 100,000 subscribers.
  • Dom's emphatic speech about how the book Dracula is fundamentally about love. Not just the love between a man and a woman, but the love between three men who remain close friends even after they all fall for the same woman; The love of a teacher for a student that has become like a son to him; And the love for those they lost that kept the heroes fighting even after they're gone.
  • The Dom donated revenue gained from his Fifty Shades of Grey reviews to charity. Additionally, he provides trigger warnings while emphasizing he's referring to their actual definition and warns that he'll ban any hurtful comments regarding sexual abuse.
  • His "review" of the The Eye of Argon, where he deconstructs the book's infamous reputation by pointing out that Jim Theis was a 16-year-old boy who was more or less tricked into publishing it, had the book stolen from him, and was then bullied for decades for writing a cringy novel as a teenager. Dom makes his disgust at those who used him rather clear and while he doesn't condemn anyone who participated in it (as not many people know the story behind the book), he also refuses to bash the book or any like it.
  • After J. K. Rowling, the author of one of his favorite book series, made a number of bigoted comments in regards to transgender people, Dominic Noble went on record saying that he can no longer support J.K. Rowling in any way, and as such, is completely removing himself from any Harry Potter material moving forward, and reworking Terrence to be transplanted into the Percy Jackson series, allowing him to continue to use the character without his connections to Harry Potter. Given his previous love for the series, it speaks to the depths of his beliefs, and love for all of his watchers, that he did not hesitate to extricate himself from the series as much as possible.
  • When he read and reviewed the Twilight books in 2020, he fully admitted he'd been "an asshole" about the books and its fandom in the past, without actually reading them. As such, he's genuinely determined to give the books a fair shake. While he still doesn't like them, he repeatedly states that Stephenie Meyer doesn't seem like a bad person, and she, the series, and its fans got way too much shit. He also says that he does understand why people liked the books, even if he personally does not.
    • Similar to the Fifty Shades example above, his review of New Moon has a shout out to the Quileute Tribe's move to higher ground and links to their fundraiser.
  • In general, despite the prevailing attitude that romance novels are inferior, ill-written, or just trash because they're entertainment for women or teenage girls, Dominic never dips into that mindset and reviews each one as he would any other book or show.
  • Since he had to redo his original 2020 Christmas review because he accidentally misgendered the author, as a replacement, Dom improvised with a performance of Death's speech in Hogfather about how it's important to believe in hope, mercy, and justice even in a world that seems devoid of it. Considering this happened in 2020, it was truly a Heartwarming Moment.
