Reunited again.

While the show is set in an imaginary dystopian setting full of corruption and greed, it has its fair share of heartwarming moments here and there.

  • The flashback in episode three shows Isaac standing up to their father to protect Yo-han. He also brought him books, and we briefly get to see them reading together.
  • Ga-on cooking food for Yo-han, Elijah, and the housekeeper which they all devour like they haven't eaten before in episode 6. This is notable since 1) he makes a full meal rather than the ramen Elijah wanted at first, and 2) Ms. Ji, the housekeeper, points out that Yo-han never eats his food and that they looked cheerful in a way that doesn't suit the gloomy mansion.
  • Soo-hyun always being there for Ga-on through the ups and downs of his life. Ga-on's parents died? She's embracing him at the funeral. Ga-on at his appointment ceremony as a judge? Soo-hyun is teary-eyed and proud of him. Ga-on is about to ruin his life and potentially murder someone? She stops him even at the cost of injuring her hand with his knife.
  • Elijah slowly grows attached to Ga-on after her initial dislike of him to the point where she draws a painting of him and her breaking down when he leaves their mansion to go back to his house. It's made more significant in that he resembles her dad and he literally becomes like a father figure to her.
  • Ga-on suddenly calling Soo-hyun to tell her he misses her.
  • Soo-hyun's silly marriage proposal to Ga-on followed by her saying "just kidding, punk."
  • Ga-on kissing Soo-hyun then later in the evening finally confesses his true feelings to her after turning her down several times to preserve their friendship. The two hug afterward and he even closes his eyes a little.
Ga-on: I can't hold myself back anymore. I don't need anything. I want us to fight over little things, misunderstand each other, get jealous, and upset. I want to like you forever. I really like you a lot, Soo-hyun.
  • Soo-hyun consoling a crying Ga-on and lets him rest his head on her shoulder after sharing an earbud with him so they can listen to soothing music together.
  • Sun-ah recalling the time when she used to serve at Yo-han's mansion and broke a plate as a child. Yo-han offers his hand to her and tells her softly that "it's okay , Sun-ah, it's okay." Doubles as a tearjerker, when her voiceover says "you know what? I really liked you, Master Yo-han" as she lies in a pool of her own blood.
  • Episode 16 has Yo-han stopping Ga-on from committing Murder-Suicide at the last minute after he's assumed dead and Ga-on grabs him into a hug in delight while Yo-han closes his eyes during the embrace.
  • The whole scene at the end of the series. After Yo-han locks himself up with the corrupt politicians of the country and bombs the courtroom, he's presumed dead. He then shows up in his mansion and hugs the housekeeper and tells her she's fired and free to do whatever she wants then goes to Elijah's room and the two hug while she cries and makes sure he's okay. He tells her he wants to take her to a rehabilitation hospital to make her walk again and she hugs him again.
