Heartwarming / Strong Female Protagonist

  • Feral's plan to save the world. She speaks to some doctors about seeing if she can donate her organs multiple times using her Healing Factor. Initial tests prove a complete success, so she decides to spend the rest of her very long life on an operating table, having her organs, blood, and skin constantly removed and regenerated, pausing only briefly when doctors get tired or machines wear out. Oh, and she's immune to anesthetic. It is the most heartwarming, heroic, and horrifying thing anyone has ever seen. Alison breaks down crying when she hears the whole story, because she has no idea what to do.
Alison: I should...I should stop her, right? But...it's the most heroic thing anyone's ever done, but I can't—
    • Taken to 11 when you learn what they decide to use as the next best thing to anesthetic: a TV monitor in the room that plays video of the people who will be receiving what Feral donates.
    • Thankfully, Alison finally found a way to help. After getting Max to boost Feral's power, not only can she provide more transplant materials faster than ever, but there are now actually logistical problems with transportation and storage if she's in surgery for any more than forty hours a month. Feral is...happy, to say the least.
  • It turns out there really is a manual on how to be a superhero...it is none other than All-Star Superman.
  • Alison's father, undergoing chemo, laments being a burden on his family - Alison immediately reassures him.
  • Alison continues to visit Cleaver, and even got him audiobooks to listen to while imprisoned - Sirius Black is his favorite Harry Potter character, though he thinks the series should be centered on Hermione, as she's the smartest, most talented witch. He also ships her with Harry.
  • The sentinel in Patrick's mind is described by his anima as a manifestation of "everything he associates with strength and power, but also everything which makes him feel safe and warm and secure." It's a giant version of Alison in a dress.
    • Along the same note, the memory that his bookish self prizes the most, his happiest memory, is an image of him and Alison watching Looney Tunes together. Alison notes that she wasn't actually watching the show to laugh, she was laughing at his reaction.
Alison: Patrick must have been so in the moment, that for once he wasn't focused on...
Anima!Patrick: ...What somebody else was feeling.
    • While in his memories, Alison sees that Patrick was also wholly willing to rush to the defense of others when he was still trying to get a grasp on his abilities.
  • After tearing down the barriers he'd thrown up throughout his life, Patrick finally gets to give Alison his gift, though he has one request.
Patrick: I say this fully acknowledging the degree of sexual tension between us, but given how physically repellent I am right now, and that I am experiencing full adult emotions for the first time in my life... Could you please hold me while I sleep? I recognize that I... I am crying and that that is... somewhat frowned upon. It's only because I'm so sad about my life and all the things I've done.
Alison: ...I can hold you while you sleep.
    • He then thanks her for giving him permission to cry, as it's a reassuring sensation, and they finally drift off to sleep - only to have a Shared Dream, as he sleeps better when occupying her dreams, as his own are filled with nightmares.
      Patrick: They're very frightening.
Alison: Yeah... but they're not my nightmares. (Leaps into the fray to start beating up Patrick's nightmares for him, looking very happy to deal with a problem that can be solved by pounding on it)
