Heartwarming / Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane

Go To

  • At the end of the original run, Mary Jane's attempts not to get in the way of Peter and Gwen's relationship problems leads Peter to think she is avoiding him. Mary Jane and Peter finally sit down and talked about their differences, resulting in this moment:
    Peter: So — friends again?
Mary Jane: No. Not friends again. (she hugs him) Still friends.
    • And then they tentatively reach out to hold hands as the snow begins to fall. Awww.
  • In the short-lived third volume (intended to be the "second season", and written by Terry Moore), a dejected and sour Harry Osborn, jealous that MJ will inevitably begin a relationship with Peter, claims that boys "are not looking to be friends with girls". Later, MJ sticks this to Harry by noting in her diary that she is glad to have good friends and spends the remainder of the day outside playfully flirting with Peter as they eat a pizza together. Despite the poor reception of this volume, this provided a heartwarming conclusion to the series and Sean McKeever's continuity.
