Heartwarming / New Mutants (2019)

Go To

  • After Rahne's horrible (and controversial) death in Uncanny X-Men (2018), the very first scene in the first issue of New Mutants is Rahne coming back to life and both Professor X and Storm welcoming her back. Storm even tells her, "Everything that brought you here—all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins—they are gone. For good and forever."
  • We then see Rahne sitting in a glade in Krakoa, looking around in pure joy. And then Karma comes in and they have a conversation:
Karma: What are you grinning at?
Wolfsbane: Ah, Shan, just look at this place. It's like a died and went to Heaven.
Karma: Well, not to put too fine a point on it, kiddo, but you kind of did. I'm sure some people would say take the gift for what it is. But truly heavy stuff has a way of sticking around. Experiences that lend themselves to broader questions of self, faith and fate—things that are tough to ignore. We can talk about it if you want.
Wolfsbane: Know what? Ah don't think I need to. Ah'm good. Ah really am.
  • When the New Mutants go to retrieve a mutant who just triggered their X-Gene and caused an earthquake, they assume that the people will hate her and try to take her back to Krakoa. However, the people only attack them because they think they're kidnapping the girl and want to keep her safe.
