Heartwarming / Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem

Go To

  • After losing The Duel, Toki's dismissed by the band... except for Skwisgaar, who welcomes him because Toki's efforts pushed his own guitar-playing to the next level. The memory of this event is shown as his "Happy Place", as well. Definitely highlights why Toki is considered The Heart of the band.
    • And going a bit deeper, Toki says during "I Believe" that he went from living on the street to being part of the most famous band in the world, a fact that he's extremely grateful for, given his Hilariously Abusive Childhood and that he'd been literally homeless before the audition. He's also shown calling them his brothers, and that unlike his blood family, they actually care about him.
    • Of everyone in the band, Skwisgaar is the one who manages to rise above the influence of the Depths of Humanity to find a flier for their old practice space where they'd first met Toki - which he remembers at a glance, years or perhaps even decades later.
    • Skwisgaar also refers to the practice space as the site of Toki's first audition, which suggests that while he did make Toki earn his keep with multiple auditions, while the band came up and moved surroundings over the years, the place stuck out in his memory for that particular reason among others.
  • After escaping from The Assassin's flunkies, the band debates fleeing or pushing onward, with Murderface advocating leaving Toki to his fate, since he's of the opinion that, if he were the one captured, they wouldn't bother saving him. Nathan tells him he's out of his mind, and that he'd gladly risk his life to save any of his brothers.
  • Dr. Rockso showing up to save the band from the junkies. After spending season after season abusing Toki's trust, Dr. Rockso finally shows that he does care about Toki when he holds off the junkies so that Dethklok could save him. ...which he does by giving away his cocaine, his favorite thing. And unlike Dethklok giving away money and equipment, he's not one of the world's largest economies.
  • Edgar Jomfru asking What the Hell, Hero? before engaging in a heartfelt duet with his deceased brother via flashback about how Edgar's brother saved him from a car wreck and carried him to safety.
  • Ofdensen telling the band they are his greatest work before departing due to his contract with them being null-void due to not being able to protect them.
  • When MMA tells the band that they killed his brother, what does Nathan say? They'd rather burn in hell than let him take their brother.
