Toothpick

  • After rescuing Katarina, she thanks Mac for protecting her. In turn, he tells her she's the real hero for becoming a whistle blower to her boss.

Corkscrew

  • After Mac escapes the safe room Thornton put him in and finds Jack waiting by a car.
Jack: What took you so long?
Mac: Thought you were out chasing leads.
Jack: No, no. I watch your back. It’s my job, remember? We talked about this.
Mac: I’m not gonna be stuck in a room while the killer Nikki hired is out on the loose.
Jack: Relax. I’m not here to stop you. I’m here to drive you.
    Jack: Where we going?
    Mac: Thornton's gonna be pissed.
Jack: Who? Patty? She’ll get over it.

  • After Riley finds where Murdoc's rented car is. Mac goes to lead the team after him.
    Thornton: We got it.
Mac: He’s after me. Me. I’m not gonna let you put me in some room while everyone I care about is in danger.
Jack:Can you just give us a second?
    [Everyone else leaves.]
Mac: I can’t believe your actually about to side with her.
Jack: Now listen to me for a second now. I’ve been watching your back for years. For years. Tangling with some real badasses that were tryin’ to kill you. But this guy, he’s different. He’s really good, beyond badass. Maybe better than me. So… I’m just gonna have to leave you behind on this one. Okay?
Mac: Well, yeah. If he’s that good I need to be with you, not-
Jack: Hey! I’m not gonna argue with you about this, alright?! I can not do my thing if I’m worried about losing you every minute. The last thing I need is your death on my conscience. Cause that’ll kill me. (Almost pleading.) Don’t do that to me. You know, sometimes the best way to watch your back, is to have your back somewhere else entirely. You understand?

Chisel

  • Jack giving Mac a pep talk to help snap him out of being depressed when he realizes that by bringing the DR terrorist into the American Embassy, he just brought their attention to them. Even worst, they can't get backup from the Latvian State Police and military reinforcement are a few hours away from arriving on time.
Jack: When I joined Delta, before I shipped out, I organized a Dalton family reunion... I told them I loved them and explained to them why I was going to fight. And I got my affairs in order, I made a will.
    Mac: You made a will?
    Jack: Yeah, will.
Mac: But all you own is your two cars and the the complete works of Bruce Willis on DVD.
Jack: You're missing the point. I've made conscious choice to put my life on the line for my country. And so have you. But these people, they didn't sign up for this.

Murdoc + MacGyver + Murdoc

  • Murdoc has the chance to escape with his son at the end, but he realizes that a life on the run wouldn't good for Cassian. So Murdoc surrenders on the condition that Cassian can visit him in prison. Murdoc also spares Cassian's mother after she betrayed him, because it would hurt Cassian too much his father killed his mother.

Mac + Fallout + Jack

  • Mac and Jack overpower their captor, and choose to get him help rather than pursue revenge or even just leave him tied up in the fallout shelter while they call for backup. This is after he ran them off the road, kidnapped them, chained them up in an abandoned bunker and subjected them to a hellish combination of CIA interrogation techniques and Saw-esque mind games, culminating in a demand that one of them kill the other before the survivor can leave. He was a CIA agent who was Left for Dead along with his partner when Mac's first mission with DXS went wrong. He and his partner were tortured for a long time, and he was finally forced to kill his partner to escape. The whole ordeal understandably broke him, and he's turned into a bitter, crazy mess. Mac and Jack, recognising that what he went through was much worse, acknowledge that the same could have happened to them as they carry him out of the bunker.

No-Go + High-Voltage + Rescue

  • Oversight happens to see a news report on two young backpackers gone missing in Columbia. The State Department won't help because they ignored warnings about what they were doing, so Oversight offers Phoenix's help, because he identifies with the terrified parents.
    • Team Phoenix have no problem risking their lives to help the missing backpackers, because although people do stupid things, it shouldn't cost them their lives.
    • Oversight bonding with the backpackers' parents by telling them his own son is on the team conducting the search. This makes the mother relax enough to work out which challenge her son would have taken.

Father + Son + Father + Matriarch

Code + Artemis + Nuclear + N3mesis

  • The gang gathering at Mac's to share Oversight stories and drink a toast to Mac's dad.
