Season 1

    Pizza Time
  • Chad Kroeger from Nickelback performed at Evelyn's funeral. It Makes Sense in Context.
  • Evelyn's immediate enthusiasm for pursuing a friendship with Riley from day one is adorable.
    Evelyn: And now we’re besties!
Riley: Uh, Evelyn, no offence, but I barely know you - and you don’t know me.
Evelyn: We can change that! What’s your favorite color, favorite animal, and favorite flavor of ice cream? Then I’ll tell you mine.

     Video Killed The Podcast Star
  • May qualify as an Esoteric Happy Ending to some, but Riley finally caving and telling Evelyn that her corpse tasted like chicken wings is a surprisingly sweet moment in context.
Evelyn: Aw, Riley, You’re the Beavis to my Butthead.
Riley: I have no idea what that means, but thanks, Ev.

     Todd's Heaven
  • After several episodes of acting like Evelyn is an inconvenience, it's surprisingly adorable to see Riley suddenly becoming protective of Evelyn against Todd.
Riley: You sure you’re comfortable with this, Evelyn? Cause you don’t have to do anything this smiley, man-bun-wearing creep says.
  • This friendship development is confirmed by the end of the episode, with Evelyn and Riley working together to take down Todd, and having a good time doing it.

     The Day of the Schlorp
  • Despite accidentally sharing her belief that Riley will probably go to Hell earlier in the episode, Riley and Evelyn do share a heartwarming exchange at the end of the episode.
Evelyn: You know I just said that because I was scared the world was ending, right?
    Riley: Yes, Evelyn. I’m aware.
Evelyn: Also, you were being really mean to me at the time.
Riley: Okay, okay. I'm sorry for being a dick.
Evelyn: Come to think of it, what is going to happen to me when you’re gone?
Riley: Who knows? Could be that there’s an afterlife out there where a hundred Chad Kroegers play the greatest hits on a stage of sunshine.

     Medium; Tarrare
  • This episode is chock full of them, starting with Riley dropping their Jerkass persona to help Tarrare finally work through his abandonment issues by shapeshifting into his father.
Riley: For what it's worth, Tarrare, you didn't need me. In spite of all the awful shit I said, your memory lives on hundreds of years later. I'm just a footnote in your story. You became a person worth remembering, and you didn't need me to do it.
  • Tarrare finally getting to pass on, thanks to Riley and Evelyn's help.
Tarrare:There’s a new lightness to me now, like something’s been lifted from my chest. You know, I don't even feel hungry anymore. [Laughs] I think it's time to go.
  • Once Tarrare is gone, Evelyn takes the time to reaffirm Riley.
Evelyn: I think what you said about him is true for you too, Riles. You're awesome, and your mom doesn't have anything to do with it.

     Floridian Gothic
  • The circumstances may be making fake meth in the bathroom to avoid a horrible death, but Teddy's enthusiasm for doing shared activities with Riley is downright Adorkable.
Teddy: Well. This isn’t an ideal situation, but it sure is fun that we’re doing some crafts together, eh, Rie-Rie?
  • They may be a Humanoid Abomination and a Stoner Nightmare Fetishist, but it's hard to deny that Tiffany and Florida Man hooking up is at least a little heartwarming. Bonus points for the fact it saves the day.

     The Irate Outdoors
  • Even though they hold that the best way to deal with trolls is by ignoring them, Riley leaps to Evelyn's defense when Nosferatina fatshames Evelyn.
Riley: Hey, lay off Evelyn, she’s literally never said a mean thing to anyone.
    • Similarly, when Nosferatina makes another joke about Evelyn's weight, Klyle briefly overcomes his fear of her to tell her to leave Evelyn and Riley alone. Neither truly stops Nosferatina, but it's still nice.
Klyle: Leave them alone! Your beef is with me!

     Little Workshop of Horrors
  • Riley finally takes some criticism of their writing to heart, and begins edits on their manuscript. One of the big changes is that R'lyeh now has a sidekick: a cheerful human bard named Eve who tells stories of their bravery and is their best friend in the world. Riley, of course, denies the character has any basis in real life, but Evelyn is touched all the same.
  • Riley is reluctant to accept Evelyn's help because she has a personal bias. She responds by assuring them that she is their friend and only wants to make their novel as good as it can be. She also reminds them that Murray's critiques are not personal attacks against them.

     Chortle at Riley's Bones
  • Lilith empowering Riley to find their own family. Evelyn declares herself Riley's new mom, much to Riley's annoyance.

     Tender Hearted in Tallahassee
  • It doesn't end as well as Evelyn might have hoped, and Riley's motivation was at least somewhat inspired by selfishness, but it was still sweet of them to go out of their way to contact Evelyn's old girlfriend and stage a reunion.

     Basements and Dragons
  • Riley, Camille, Flauros and Todd finally setting aside their differences, coming together and having fun towards the end of their D&D session. Especially Riley and Camille, who had been at each other's throats for the early part of the episode.

     Giving Up the Ghost
  • Riley offers to go to Hell in Jon's place, because they deserve it more than Jon does.
    • Despite hating Riley for eating his corpse, Jon is horrified when it seems they're about to be condemned to Hell, and offers to go there in their place to spare Riley from eternal torment.
  • After spending the season bonding, bickering, and getting to know each other better, Evelyn and Riley seemingly are forced to separate: Evelyn will pass on to Heaven, while Riley will descend into Hell. Evelyn nearly chokes Riley with her hug and promises that she'll never forget Riley. But then...
  • In a literal Deus ex Machina, the people "upstairs" have found that because of Riley's sacrifice, their deadly sins have been canceled out, and thus they cannot be condemned to Hell. To make things better, both Evelyn and Jon are unbound from Riley and can move through the various afterlives AND the earthly plane.
  • Evelyn's freed from her bond to Riley! What's her first move with this newfound freedom? Going back to the basement with Riley, by choice, because she wants to be with her friend. Really, the entire ending is full of the warm fuzzies.
Riley: Didn’t you hear what Azfar said? You’re free to go. You can go haunt Chad Kroger now or whatever, you don’t have to stick with me anymore.
Evelyn: I know, but I want to! I think we should celebrate! I can go out any time I want from now on, but tonight I wanna order some barbecue and crack open a cheap bottle of white wine with my best friend and Roommate. But only if you’ll have me.
Riley: Fuck yeah, I will. Let’s see when Last Chance stops delivering.
