It's a story about friendship, after all.

Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to make friends, but when you do, it pays off.

  • The character selection screen is rather cute when you think about it. When the screen loads, a lot of them have rather neutral expressions, but when you scroll over them, most of them smile, as though pleased at the thought that you might want to befriend them. Special mention goes to Zebede, who is utterly delighted at having been picked, and Galekh, who goes from looking disdainful to having a rather soft smile.
  • The fact that the MSPA Reader starts off as a weird "Alien" who crashed onto Alternia, but gains more friends with each volume, to the point where they visit some of them regularly.
    • The Reader's thoughts to themself in later volumes indicate that other characters tell them personal things, invite them to hang out, or teach them certain skills. They reference Tegiri showing them how to hold a katana and Tegiri and Polypa inviting them to a convention, and Cirava calls them to hang out in Zebede's route. Galekh's route also indicates that Tagora has confided to them about his blackrom relationship with Galekh, since the Reader is very well aware of it.
    • This is best demonstrated at the beginning of Boldir's route, where the Reader fondly looks upon the various items they've received from them. Konyyl gave them a phone that they use all the time, Skylla sent a coffee mug with Lady's picture painted on it, the Reader still has and wears Mallek's hoodie, and Tagora gave them a coffee machine that he claimed was a hand-me-down, but, since the price tag is still on it, he probably bought it for them.
  • By the end of her route, Ardata describes the MSPA Reader as her first ever friend.
  • Bronya doing everything she can for her Jades and the grubs she cares for, even though she knows she's toeing the law.
  • Skylla saving her lusus in the good ending of her route.
  • A few of the good endings imply that the trolls involved see you as their Moirail, such as Polypa, Chixie, and Stelsa.
  • On Polypa's route, she mentions that when she was locked in her hive, she would've starved had it not been for a Tealblood in her neighborhood. She describes said Teal as a "little idiot who ran around with an Eastern Alternia replica sword". It's heavily implied that this Teal is Tegiri Kalbur, of all people. Definitely goes to show that you shouldn't always judge a book by its three-sentence cover.
  • Despite their vitriolic Moirallegiance and constant bickering, Kuprum cares deeply for Folykl and even manages to save her and the MSPA Reader from an Imperial Drone in the good ending.
    • Marsti's route implies that Folykl trusts Kuprum enough for him to spend some time away from her but still return eventually.
  • In between the complete asshattery that goes on between Tagora and Tyzias, Tagora drops a completely unprompted solicitation to you-the-Reader to stop by his place later.
  • Despite the fact that she intended to keep you, and your blood, as her muse forever, Amisia is so thrilled to see you again the next time you run into her that she tackle-hugs you off your feet. She also tells off Chahut for making murder jokes around you, insisting that "[her] friend is very delicate!"
  • The good ending of Tegiri's route, where the Reader watches anime with him and Polypa, and is shown petting his lusus.
  • Choosing to break into Tyzias’s office in Tirona’s route (as opposed to Tagora’s or Tegiri’s, both of which end badly) leads to the Reader “looking up information on how to get in” (actually texting Tyzias warning her about the break in). When Tyzias shows up, she herds Tirona out of the room, then pulls you to a corner so Tirona can’t eavesdrop in order to give the impression that she was rough with you. The Reader gives her a hug before they leave, and Tirona is amazed that you’re still alive, oblivious to the fact that Tyzias was on to her the whole time because her friend was looking out for her.
  • In the good ending of Wanshi's route, the Reader takes her safely home, where Lynera gets mad at her for running off without a word and leaving everyone to worry. After Wanshi runs off to get the Reader something, Lynera tells the Reader that they'd better be grateful that Wanshi's OK, because if she got hurt... Lynera trails off after that, but the Reader's intention to tell her that it's OK to care implies that she was really worried about Wanshi, and really cares about her, which is unexpected from Lynera, to say the least.
  • In both paths of her route, Daraya tells the Reader about her depression and nihilism over the state of Alternia and her lot in life. In the bad ending, they fail to reassure her, and she succumbs to it to the point that she's implied to have been Driven to Suicide. However, in the good ending, the Reader sees Tyzias, who's struggled with similar issues, and brings her into the conversation to help. After an initially rocky start, Tyzias's words get through to Daraya, who offers to help her with her research to make Alternia a better place and admits that she had a fun time with the Reader. The ending shows all three of them hanging out together.
  • Despite Stelsa's route showing her to not completely agree with Tyzias' beliefs, the two still seem to get along when they appear together in Nihkee's route, even letting the Reader have dinner with them. It's possible that Stelsa followed the Reader's advice and talked to Tyzias about it, and it went well enough for them to still be together.
    • And speaking of Nikhee's route, after the abysmal wrestling match, Nikhee demands to know what the MSPA Reader has to say for themselves, upon which the Reader mumbles a half-hearted apology. Nikhee then says she didn't bring them to her hive for apologies, she brought them there because despite being physically weak, they're a good person who could be so much more than they are, and she wants to help them get there.
  • Lynera's route ended with her being rude to a potential new friend, seemingly not wanting to change her ways. Lanque's route starts with her getting the Reader to come to a party with her, as she wants to give making friends another try.
    • The fact that the party is by Ardata, of all people. Back in the first volume, she considered the Reader her only friend, and now, it seems she wants to make more friends as well. And everyone there seems to be having a good time in both versions.
  • The Soleil twins' route has the MSPA Reader and them trapped in a creepy house in a pocket dimension that won't let any of you leave. The only way for the three to escape is for the Reader to befriend them. And when the Reader does, the twins stop being spooky and start being absolutely adorable.
