• Louise and Roxanne befriending young Billie when she first arrives at the foster home. From that day forward their bond strengthens to that of sisters rather than friends.
• Dice's treatment of Billie (before his Jerkass upgrade). He convinces Billie that she deserved to have her superior vocal talent heard instead of lending it to a Hollywood Tone-Deaf Rich Bitch, almost encouraging her to aim higher in life. Later on when filming the music video for "Lover boy", another producer forces Billie to dance in revealing underwear ("sex sells"), and having a group of make backup dancers nearly force themselves on her. This makes Dice nearly fly into a fury, and removes Billie from the set, giving the filming crew a well-deserved speech on how Billie must be treated with respect, not as a sex object.
• Roxanne and Louise taking Billie back into their apartment after she and Dice broke up.
• Billie reuniting with her mother at the end.
• In a real-life Heartwarming Tear Jerker example, the song "Twister". In-universe it looks like it's referencing Lillian Frank. In real life, Carey wrote the song in memory of her friend and hair stylist Tanjuan Twist who committed suicide in 2000, the song's title being a play on her last name.
