When Anne tells her aunt and her sister that she wants Ann to move in with her and be her "companion," they both respond very favorably to the idea. Her conversation on the subject with Marian is especially heartwarming, since the two sisters usually squabble.
Marian: You've become great friends, you and Miss Walker. Anne: Hmm. If she were to move in with me at Shibden as my companion, how would you feel about that? Marian: Would she leave Crow Nest? Anne: She says so. She rattles around in it on her own. Marian: Oh, I'd be delighted. Anne: Would you? Marian: Of course! I like her, the little I've seen of her, and I'd be pleased for you to be more settled. Anne: ...Thank you, Marian.
The pretty unanimous compassion that Eúgene, Lister's ladies-maid, receives when it is learned that she was pregnant out of wedlock. Instead of shaming her or criticizing her behavior, the servants try to keep it discreet (realistically risking their jobs), look for a solution to her predicament, and offer to help her in the only ways they had available to them. The cook consoling her when she loses the pregnancy is also very sweet. All this considering they barely know this foreign woman.
Lister even lets her keep her job when she finds out.
Even though they do go on to tell the new hire about her history, it was only in response to a continued pattern of behavior, and it was truth rather than rumor, and to avoid a repeated problem.
John and the other servants naturally putting effort into learning French, rather than expressing frustration with Eúgene's lack of English.
After Anne comforts and soothes Ann while the latter is undergoing a Sanity Slippage, Miss Rawson admits she was wrong about Anne, sincerely and humbly apologizing for ever thinking poorly of her.
The hug Anne and Marian share in the penultimate episode, before Anne heads off to travel. They're very different women, and they fight a lot, but at the end of the day they're still sisters and they love each other dearly.
Anne and Ann's Metaphorical Marriage in the first season finale. The cherry on top is Anne's last Aside Glance of the season, as she and Ann enter the church. We've been along for the ride for this entire love story, and now, we're being invited along for the happily-ever-after, too.
