  • A small moment, but after Cooper fails to meet the rest of the team at the rendezvous point at the start of the game, both Regina and Rick hesitate to start the mission without their comrade, only to reluctantly comply with Gail's order. We never learn the extent of Cooper's relationship with his teammates, but it's clear that Regina and Rick at least cared about him enough to be willing to wait a little longer for him.

  • From one interpretation, Gail's behaviour can count as well. He's definitely not the nicest person, however his reasons for hiding their true mission from the others and his action hint that he cares more about his team, at least, than he lets on. His colder actions can be justified as him prioritising getting his living teammates out as quickly as possible—it was more than likely that Cooper was already dead and that searching or waiting for him would prove dangerous, the same with going to look for Tom. Gail also makes no attempts to physically stop Rick or Regina and tries to complete the secret mission on his own. He also doesn't bother to glorify or skew the government's true motivation once he's forced to admit it. With all of that, and the implications of the real mission for the world they live in, it's possible to see him as just so disillusioned he's prioritising the safety and innocence of the few people on his team rather than trying to be a larger-scale hero, and at the same time, doesn't want them to turn out as bitter as he has.

  • Several moments from the "Rescue Tom" scenario.
    • As soon as they get the distress call, Rick immediately advocates that the team should go and help whoever sent it, dismissing Gail's argument that it could be a trap, telling him he's more than willing to take the risk if it means helping one of their own. Also, instead of asking Regina to go herself while he monitors things from the Control Room, Rick goes to help their teammate personally; "We don't leave our own behind" indeed.
    • If the player sides with Rick in this scenario, they follow the latter and find him with Tom, who has been severely injured. The cutscene shows Regina rushing over to them, with both her and Rick showing genuine concern for the wounded undercover agent.
    • Rick stays by Tom's side for the rest of the scenario, watching over him while Regina clears a path to safety and carrying him once the path is clear.
    • When Rick and Tom are ambushed by a raptor in the medical room, the still heavily wounded Tom shoves Rick away and turns to face it himself. This unfortunately leads to Tom's death, much to Rick's despair, but proves that Tom truly thought of Rick as a friend, and was willing to put himself in danger to protect him, just as Rick did for him.
    • While Tom is not mentioned for the rest of the main game, Regina takes a moment to pay respect to him at the end during her mission report, sadly saying, "He will be missed". Clearly, Regina thought of Tom as a friend too, not just a colleague.
