Mitsuki's Framed Photos of his friendsnote
  • Boruto and Himawari's brother and sister relationship. Himawari is very kind and always support her big brother for whatever he does. She's probably his best support in the family and is very vocal and physical intimate with him. While Hinata does support Boruto, she doesn't glomp him every time she sees him.
  • Boruto and Shikadai's friendship. Shikadai is clearly annoyed with Boruto's antics, but he still hangs out with him and helps him out.
  • Although it can be a little stalkerish, Mitsuki's loyalty and devotion to Boruto is quite heartwarming. Even if they're doing menial tasks, Mitsuki doesn't mind and is just content to just be by Boruto's side.
  • Even though the relationship is somewhat ambiguous, Mitsuki frequently contacting Orochimaru, his parent, while he's in the Konohagakure almost feels like a homesick child calling their parents to let them know how they're doing while they're away from home.
  • Kawaki becoming part of Naruto's family after getting taken in by him. He starts to bond with them over time and become less hostile towards them and anyone around them.
  • Although Sasuke is affected by Eida's Omnipotence shinjutsu, he sides with Boruto because he trusts Sarada's judgement.
  • Despite her memories being affected by Eida's Omnipotence, Himawari still cares for Boruto and doesn't believe he's a traitor. She also still believes that her parents are still alive somewhere, unlike everyone else affected, who still believe the lie that they've been killed by Boruto. Boruto is happy to see her again after 3 years.
  • Boruto reuniting with Sarada and Sumire after 3 years, with Sarada running up to hug him.

Anime

Episode 1: Boruto Uzumaki!
  • Just like his father, Boruto doesn't like bullies. When he sees bullies picking on Denki and taking his money, Boruto goes in to help him and get his money back.
  • When Boruto returns home, Himawari greets Boruto from hugging him from behind and Boruto happily gives her a piggyback ride.
  • After crashing the train car into the Hokage Rock, Boruto takes the full blame for Denki even though it resulted in him being suspended for two weeks from the Academy.
  • Naruto may be frustrated with the stunt that Boruto pulled, but he's proud of him for standing up for Denki and making him a stronger person.

Episode 2: The Hokage's Son!

  • When Inojin accuses Boruto of riding the success of his father and for crashing the train car into the Hokage Rock, Denki tries to defend Boruto but Boruto insist that he'll take full responsibility and Shikadai calls out Inojin for not understanding what really happened.
  • When Iwabe also accuses Boruto of riding the success of his father and saying weaklings shouldn't be attending the Academy, Denki stands up to Iwabe and tells him that Boruto isn't like that and Boruto is the reason why he's attending the Academy. Boruto in return defends Denki when Iwabe threatens to hurt him.

Episode 5: The Mysterious Transfer Student

  • Seeing Kurenai talking to Shino about his job as a teacher was heartwarming, as Kurenei was his Master.
  • And seeing the now older Iruka is the Headmaster of the academy. He's devoting his life to teaching kids, to make a difference from how the Academy was before.
  • When the students start badmouthing Shino, Shikadai tells everyone to knock it off as he threw this welcome party for Mitsuki. When Sumire reveals that Shino isn't coming to class after the party, everyone realizes they went too far and Shikadai suggest they all apologize to him.

Episode 8: The Dream's Revelation

  • Seeing a graying Hiashi and a grown-up Hanabi was good enough, but the way they're both completely doting to Boruto and Himawari? Especially Hiashi? Absolutely adorable.
    • On a deeper level, this just shows how much the Hyuga clan structure has changed. The branch system seems to no longer be in place and there's far less emphasis on protecting the Byakugan at all costs. It looks like Hiashi and Hanabi are keen to never have a repeat of what happened to Hizashi and Neji.

Episode 9: Proof of Oneself

  • The talk between Naruto and Hiashi. It's a simple discussion about his children and their thoughts about both of them awakening Byakugan, Naruto of course being proud of Boruto trying hard to unlock his Byakugan. What's important about this scene is the way its set up, Naruto and Hiashi by themselves talking to one another. It's easy to forget but Hiashi is Naruto's father-in-law, they aren't talking to one another as the former head of the Hyuga and the Hokage, they are talking to one another as father and son.

Episode 10: The Ghost Incident: The Investigation Begins!

  • Naruto and Hinata's scene together. He apologizes for waking her up as he's preparing to spend yet another all-nighter at the Hokage office, but she understands and is supportive as she helps him pack some clothes. As the two of them watch Boruto sleep, Naruto expresses his wish for Boruto to remain a child just a bit longer, and he lets his mask slip in front of his wife as he expresses self-doubt about being a father because he grew up without his own father Minato. He admits he doesn't know how to interact with Boruto, and he fears Boruto is aware of this. Hinata assures him that Boruto does understand in his own way. Then she cuddles up against Naruto and tells him that when Boruto laughs, he looks just like his father. They share a smile and continue to watch Boruto sleep.
    • This entire scene is a Call-Back to the Chunin Exams arc in the original series, when Naruto let his mask slip and expressed doubt in himself to Hinata as he admitted his fear that he was still the Boisterous Weakling that everyone saw him as, only for Hinata to encourage him by telling him that he inspired her to never give up, calling him a "proud failure." Back then, that was the only time Naruto ever explicitly expressed his self-doubt to someone else, and it wasn't to the Third Hokage, Iruka, or any of Team 7; it was to Hinata. That moment was the foundation of their strong friendship and eventual romance. Here, Naruto lets his mask slip and expresses his self-doubt to Hinata again. This time though, she's not just his confidant and one of his closest friends; she's also his One True Love, his lover, his wife, and the mother of his children.
    • This scene demonstrates that, despite spending many hours away from his wife and children at work, Naruto still places a great amount of trust in Hinata over everyone else, since he tends to keep his mask on in front of people he sees on a more regular basis, like Shikamaru and Sai.
    • This scene also contains another Call-Back. The smile Naruto gives to Hinata when she talks about Boruto's laugh is the exact same smile Naruto gave to her when he finally received her red scarf in The Last: Naruto the Movie.

Episode 12: Boruto and Mitsuki

  • We get the first full confirmation that, prior to becoming Hokage, Naruto was a very Doting Parent, to the point that Boruto says he was "always" there for him and Himawari. Indeed it seems he was too doting, as it resulted in Boruto being ill-prepared for the changes that came with him having to "share" his father with the village.
    • Likewise, Mitsuki recognizes that Boruto's anger is motivated by his intense love for his father. Doubles as a Tear Jerker because Boruto is still too immature to recognize that his father doesn't care any less than before and that what he does is to protect his immediate family as much as his "village family", and this is not helped by how Naruto doesn't know how best to communicate these things (as he admitted to Hinata in Episode 10).

Episode 18: A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family

  • Naruto taking Boruto out to his favorite restaurant, Ichiraku Ramen after getting kicked out of the house for some father-son bonding time.

Episode 22: Connected Feelings

  • Orochimaru asking Naruto how 'the child' (Mitsuki) was doing and is pleased to know that he was doing alright.

Episode 23: Bonds Come in All Shapes

  • Finishing up from the Sarada Arc, as first seen in Naruto Gaiden. For the first time in awhile, Sarada, Sasuka, and Sakura are together in Konoha. Finally, Sarada gets to fully understand the bond between her parents and her, culminating in her learning to accept the fact that her dad has to go on extended missions outside the village, as shown be her seeing him off.
    • Prior to this, Sarada asks Sasuke if he truly loves Sakura. His answer is simple: He does, and Sarada is proof of that love.
    • While Sarada's sad to see Sasuke leave again, he gives her a big hug and, most importantly, the forehead tap. Sarada is absolutely beaming when she finally understands the gesture.
    • Sasuke is seen smirking and clutching the bento Sakura made him a bit tighter as he walks away. Even though he teased her by not kissing or poking her in front of Sarada, he clearly loves his wife.
    • The ending sequence for this episode gets into the act, prior to this, the imagery during this part showed Sarada experiencing heartache and alienation as she struggled to come to terms with her family. Now, the credits shows her taking her parents hands (previously, the image of her parents shattered away), and she then turn head back to the camera with a big smile on her face.
    • In the post credits sequence, Boruto thanks Sarada for delivering his dad's bento. Sarada then says that it's her that needs to thank Boruto since the trip gave her a new goal, to become Hokage.

Episode 26: The Mizukage's Successor

  • Pictured above, Boruto and Sarada eating and watching the seaside in the Land of Water. Simply put, this moment is serene between two students who are constantly at odds with each other. Before that, Boruto had bought two fried squids when seeing Sarada sitting at the seaside alone. This parallels Naruto's brief encounters with Sasuke when they were young, where he didn't even dare confront him, being one factor in Sasuke's Face–Heel Turn. When Boruto decides to go to Sarada and share his food, he is unintentionally preventing himself from making the same mistake his father did.

Episode 33: The Super Beast Scroll Slump!

  • After Inojin's Beast Scroll techniques falter, he spends the entire episode trying to figure out what is wrong with them; It's not until he realizes that his love for drawing was what motivated his drawings to come to life. In the process he manages to strike a friendship with Himawari, who helped him rediscover his passion for drawing.
    • After making Himawari's best drawing come to life at her request, Inojin becomes dismayed when he realizes that after the technique wears off, the drawing becomes ruined; but Himawari is undaunted by it and cheerfully says that she can just make more drawings like it, and invites Inojin to draw with her.
  • Sai reveals to Inojin that his favourite drawing from him is one of the first ones he made, in which he drew both of them with Ino together as a family with warm smiles on their faces while ridding a bird; Sai further says that he keeps that drawing with him always.

Episode: 35: The Parent Teacher Conference!

  • Despite being a notorious criminal to the village, Naruto allows Orochimaru to come visit to attend Mitsuki's conference. The fact that Orochimaru even came is surprising in on itself. Mitsuki says that he even had a 'nice long conversation' with his parent, who he hasn't seen in a long time.
  • Orochimaru allowing and respecting Mitsuki's own choice to stay and become a ninja in the Hidden Leaf Village.

Episode 39: The Path Lit By The Full Moon.

  • While Boruto and Sarada are arguing over Boruto's excuse for being late, Mitsuki declares that he doesn't really care who's right because he's already decided to trust them both.
  • The fact that Orochimaru allowed Mitsuki to go to the Hidden Leaf Village to meet Boruto. It shows how much Orochimaru has changed to become a relatively decent parent to his synthetic children.
    • Also the fact that Naruto allowed the 'son' of a notorious criminal to come into the village and even attend the academy.

Episode 48: The Genin Documentary!!.

  • Iwabee, Metal, and Denki are congratulated by Naruto for proving that they are genin. He gives special detail to Iwabee, who's seen him as a role model and knows the struggles Iwabee faced as a fellow repeater. Iwabee's crying gratitude and the cameraman gaining all of the events on the video to finish the documentary gave Team 5 the credit they deserved.

Episode 50: The Chunin Exams Recommendation Meeting.

  • The reason Konohamaru is hesitant to let his team partake in the Chunin Exams, he's worried about Boruto, who he see's as a little brother.
  • Likewise, Hanabi also doesn't like the thought of something happening to Boruto. She and Konohamaru even bond a bit over their adoration of Boruto, gushing over the fact that Baruto refers to them as both 'Big Sister/Brother'.

Episode 59: Boruto vs. Shikadai

  • Chocho's teammates and friends cheering for her as she fights a losing battle against Shinki.
    • Then them and her parents subsequently coming to her aid after the match is over.
  • Boruto coming to Mitsuki's defense when Shinki begins to talk smack against Mitsuki for holding back in a previous match.

Episode 62: The Otsutsuki Invasion

  • Watching all the characters of the older generation doing their part to save the civilians and keep everyone safe.
  • Watching both Sasuke and Naruto keeping their respective kids safe from the Otsutsuki is noteworthy.
    • Although he couldn't do much, Boruto attempting to attack the Otsutsuki himself to defend his father was touching.
  • Despite having been wounded, Mitsuki manages to save a young girl from falling debris. He also doesn't show that he even was injured until after the girl ran off the safety, probably not to worry her.
  • Mitsuki's devotion to Boruto really shines this episode when Mitsuki decides that Boruto's life and safety was worth more than him staying in Konohagakure. Note that this is one of the only few times in the series where Mitsuki ever gets really serious.
  • Watching the whole village worry about Naruto's safety as he holds of the Otsutsuki, pleading with him to get away instead of defending them.

Episode 64: Rescuing Naruto

  • The anime version of Momoshiki arc had the best heartwarming make up between Naruto and Boruto as the apology goes both ways while in the movie, novel and manga, it only goes to blame only Boruto was at fault and Naruto had nothing to apologise for, which hardly make any sense as it depicts Naruto as some perfect god instead of a normal human. Naruto realised Boruto was what he was to even resort to cheating because Naruto keep giving excuses and learn to be more open-minded and accept Boruto's opinion.

Episode 71: The Hardest Rock in the World

  • Mitsuki admires Boruto so much that the single piece of considerable possession he has is a picture of Boruto, which he had framed and put beside his bedside table.
  • At this point in the show, it really showcases how close Boruto he had gotten to Mitsuki. In the beginning of the series, he found Mitsuki a little weird and strange, but now he accepts Mitsuki's somewhat obsessive admiration of him, even declaring that Mitsuki would never stop liking him.

Episode 72: Mitsuki's Will

  • Despite the idea of it being a little out of the ordinary that Mitsuki has a portrait of Boruto, both Boruto and Sarada aren't terribly weirded out by it. In fact, they seem more worried that he's nowhere in sight.
  • Boruto saving Mitsuki's white snake which he has left behind with a message for him. The snake can later be seen curling up in Boruto's pocket. It even rubs its head affectionately against Boruto's hand in a later scene. It seems that Mitsuki's admiration for Boruto was instilled even in his snakes.
  • Boruto and Sarada to trust Mitsuki and absolving to find them on their own. They both leave the village despite the fact that they would technically be labeled as criminals as well. Their friend is too important to them for that to matter.

Episode 73: The Other Side of the Moon

  • Even though Boruto was clearly troubled finding out Mitsuki was a clone from an experiment and that he wasn't sure what to do if Mitsuki's will was to leave the village, but both he and Sarada decide to continue believing in him.
  • Sarada meets Karin for the first time, the latter's response to be glad she's grown up and loves how the glasses she got for her fit Sarada so well.

Episode 80: Mitsuki's Friend

  • Mitsuki teaching Sekiei more about humans and the two form a bond.

Episode 83: Ohnoki's Justice

  • Sekiei shows Mitsuki drawings of his friends and the other people in his life he wants to protect, which are Lord Kuu and the other Fabrications. He tells Mitsuki humans become stronger when they have something to protect. He gives Mitsuki a drawing of himself and Mitsuki and tells him now he has one more to protect, referring to Mitsuki.

Episode 89: A Piercing Heart

  • Konohamaru telling Mitsuki that, no matter what happens, he is and always will be a member of Team 7.
  • Also, Mitsuki reuniting with Boruto and Sarada after revealing he was never on the Fabrication's side. After all this, Team 7 is finally back!

Episode 91: Onoki's Will

  • Though a Tearjerker as well as heartwarming, Mitsuki offering to stay behind and fight Ku so Boruto and Sarada can escape with Ohnoki, telling him that it would be alright if he died as there are many other Mitsuki Clones in Orochimaru's lab, meaning that he can be replaced. Boruto tells him no, that the Mitsuki he knows is the only true Mitsuki and instead Team 7 face Lord Ku together.
  • Although at first it appears that Konohamaru was about to scold Mitsuki, he instead approaches him and hugs Mitsuki tight and telling him he's glad he came back and that he was alright.
  • Team 15 and Team 5 coming to the Hidden Stone to help Mitsuki, Boruto and Sarada. After realizing they're alright, they are also delighted to see that Mitsuki is safe and sound, welcoming him back with open arms.

Episode 92: A New Ordinary

  • On his bedside table, Mitsuki now has portraits of all of his friends in his apartment.
    • Interestingly enough, he didn't go out and replace his portrait of Boruto with pictures of him and his friends, but instead, his portrait of Boruto rests beside his pillow on his bed, right next to where his head would be when he sleeps at night, showing that Boruto still is a precious person to him.
  • Hinata and Sakura hugging Boruto and Sarada and letting them know how worried they were about them.

Episode 93: Parent and Child Day

  • Himawari wants a Kurama toy that's on sale for a limited time. Because Naruto just got back, she assumes that he might fall asleep and the toy would be gone. Naruto slaps himself awake and takes her to the store.
  • Himawari meets Kiba and Akamaru...and one of the latter's puppies, Akemaru.
  • When a man takes the Kurama toy Kiba found, Naruto chases after the man and tackles him. But then he sees the boy the man is living with. A son who was pleading for the same toy. Himawari arrives and calmly gives the Kurama toy to the kid.
    • Even better, the man is a shinobi being assigned on a mission away from the village, which means he won't get to see his son. Naruto reassigns him on security patrol at the village so he won't be away.
  • Even though it's a very rare day off for Naruto, Boruto goes off on his own and lets Himawari spend time with their father despite clearly wanting to join in.

Episode 95: Tactics for Getting Along with your Daughter

  • The end of the episode has montage of several families spending time together. Sasuke, Sakura, and Sarada are enjoying dinner, with Chōji, Karui, Chōchō doing the same at their own home, Ino is comforting Sai after last episode's Eating Contest, Rock and Metal Lee are mountain climbing (using only 1 hand each), and Naruto and Boruto are training. The only exceptions are Shikamaru and Shikadai, who are eating with terrified expressions on their faces while Temari watches over them with scary red eyes.

Episode 104: The Little Roommate

  • This entire episode is just sweetness on steroids as it is about the normally stoic Mitsuki awkwardly taking care of a very small kitten, two things that probably shouldn't mix well, but does.
  • Mitsuki's interactions with Mikazuki is very touching as it is absolutely adorable.
    • At first, he is unsure what to make of him and lets him do whatever he wants, playing with his blinds and even knocking over his very precious picture of Boruto. Mitsuki doesn't even scold him and just ends up awkwardly watching him. It's clear that Mitsuki doesn't really know what to make of the kitten.
    • Mitsuki first starts to warm up to the kitten when he continues to try to sleep next to Mitsuki, despite his repeated attempts to put him on the floor. He allows the kitten to sleep alongside him, eventually one day Mitsuki is seen gently petting Mikazuki who has snuggled up to him, the warmest and softest smile that Mitsuki has ever made on is face
    • Mitsuki naming the kitten Mikazuki, which means 'Crescent Moon', matching the kitten to his own naming theme.
    • When Mikazuki got sick, Mitsuki, (for the first time) frantically, went to a Pharmacy and Hospital to try heal him.
    • When Mikazuki was kidnapped by Nezumi, Mitsuki, for the first time other than for Boruto, was absolutely furious. After he retrieved the kitten, Mitsuki didn't even stop to acknowledge Nezumi once Mikazuki was in his arms, because to him, Mikazuki's life was more important than even stopping to give Nezumi any more time of his day.
  • Although a tearjerker as well, Mitsuki allowing Mikazuki to leave with his mother instead of trying to keep him with himself, even though it was clear that he had become attached to the kitten, knowing that he would probably be happier with its parent.
  • The end of the episode, Mitsuki returns to an empty and lonely apartment, probably feeling lonely as Sarada had predicted. However, suddenly, Mikazuki appears on his balcony, leading to Mitsuki letting him in, leaving the latter to decide to keep his door open any time so the kitten can always come into his home.

Episode 105: A Wound on the Heart

  • Despite the fact the episode is a clip reel of Mitsuki's moments up to now, the episode has heavy focus on two things: Mitsuki's inability to understand why he has been having dreams. But a most important highlight is Orochimaru's personality once again: He is constantly concerned for the well being of his youngest child, worried that the rapid psychological growth will lead to permanent damage to Mitsuki's brain and believing the only cure is to erase his memory. But rather than sugarcoat what the medicine would do and manipulate Mitsuki's will, he instead outright informs him of the medicine's effects and gives Mitsuki the choice to drink it or not.
  • Shortly after when it shows Mitsuki is back to his normal life in the Hidden Leaf Village, it cuts to Orochimaru and Log talking, both relieved by Mitsuki's choice to retain his memories. And while they do somewhat dread they may need to erase his memories one day, Orochimaru ultimately believes Mitsuki will overcome his condition with his own will.

Episode 129

  • Boruto, after he and Sasuke are sent back to the past while looking for Urashiki, has a sleepover with Genin Naruto. While there, Naruto asks Boruto what his dad is like. Boruto basically tells him he's a clumsy oaf. They both laugh. Then Naruto asks if he still loves his dad. Boruto tells him yes.

Episode 130

  • Genin Hinata may be a Shrinking Violet in the past, but when she speaks to Boruto for the first time, she doesn't stutter her words, and it feels completely natural. Genin Sakura and Genin Ino are quick to notice this.

Episode 132

  • Boruto having a heartfelt talk with Neji, who explains how Naruto taught him one can determine another's fate. This also becomes a tear jerker moment when you remember this is probably the only time Boruto will ever have to talk with his uncle.

Episode 138: Hiashi's Birthday

  • Boruto spends the whole episode trying to understand his grandfather just so he could get him the perfect birthday present. And after learning of the Hyuga Affair and why Hiashi is such a Doting Grandparent, Boruto finally realized what the perfect birthday present would be: A family photo, promising to do so every year just so he could always have a memory of their happy days.

Episode 166: Death Match

  • Even though his sacrifice was in vain, Asaka's change of heart and attempt to save Boruto is heartwarming as it is devastating.
  • Mitsuki's loyalty to his friends is shown tenfold when he decides that he would rather risk getting 'broken' than let them die.

Episode 167: Their Decision

  • Mitsuki did manage to keep his promise to his friends, having just enough energy to bring them to safety.
  • One of the first things Boruto asks upon waking up is where Mitsuki was.
  • Despite Orochimaru's dismissive attitude and claim that he only cares about Mitsuki as an experiment, Log is able to detect that Orochimaru really is concerned over Mitsuki's condition.
    • Sure enough, while Mitsuki is healing, Orochimaru caresses the tank his son is being held in. It’s quite possibly the closest he can get to giving Mitsuki an Affectionate Gesture to the Head at the moment.
  • Team 5 and Team 15 becoming extremely concerned over Boruto and Sarada, coming to visit them. They caught on quickly that something was amiss between them and worried that they were depressed over their loss. It's heartwarming to see that despite splitting off to their own teams, that the new generation is still great friends with each other.
Episode 172
  • For the first time, someone besides the protagonists, which is Team 5, comes to ask Orochimaru for his signature on a card. Orochimaru agrees.
  • With regards to the above matter, Team 5 asked if Mitsuki is doing alright, to which Orochimaru replied he is and will recover while feeling glad Mitsuki had friends besides Boruto and Sarada who worries for him.
Episode 173: The Secret Behind The Underground Room
  • Knowing Mitsuki would wake up and want to know what Boruto and Sarada are up to, Orochimaru sent Suigetsu to check on them.
  • Orochimaru, in general, being gentle and caring towards Mitsuki, also praising him for choosing to do what he felt was right in protecting Boruto and Sarada.
  • After Suigetsu informs Mitsuki about Boruto, Sarada, and Konohamaru returning to the Land of Valleys, he says the three of them being there isn't a coincidence, prompting Orochimaru to quickly cover Suigetsu's mouth and force him out of the room to keep him from making Mitsuki worry more and want to leave in his condition.
