Bloodlines- Adrian showing Sydney that he really does appreciate everything she's done for him over the course of the first book.
- The moment between Adrian and Sydney just before the arrival of Sonya Karp, Abe, Angeline and Dimitri. Especially Adrian's words. This is probably the moment when he begins to fall in love with Sydney, and it shows.Adrian: “My God, Sage. Your eyes. How have I never noticed them?”Sydney: “What about them?”Adrian: “The color. When you stand in the light. They’re amazing … like molten gold. I could paint those … They’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.”
The Golden Lily
- Sydney dropping a date with Brayden to comfort Adrian while he's upset.
- Sydney drinking an entire slush to get Adrian to feel better after a disastrous meeting with his father.
- Adrian telling Sydney that her going in to reason with the Warriors is smart and brave, no matter what happens.
- Sydney trusting Adrian, and Adrian alone (well, and Jill), with her magical abilities.
The Indigo Spell
- Sydney finally giving into her feelings for Adrian and meeting him at the Getty Villa.
- Adrian telling Sydney that no matter what happens, he'll always love her.
- Similarly, Adrian wanting in on Sydney's hunt for a dangerous, soul-eating witch, because he doesn't want her to face danger alone.
- When they lose Sydney's cross necklace, Adrian makes her a new one. To top it off, he paints morning flowers on it, because he's "not a fan of lilies".
The Fiery Heart
- Hopper. Just... Hopper.
- Jill finally kissing Eddie. About damn time.
- This line:Sydney: "Everything’s going to be okay. The center will hold."Adrian: "How do you know?"Sydney: "Because we are the center."
- Sydney's message for Adrian after she is captured by the Alchemists: Centrum permanebit. The centre will hold.
- Sydney sacrificing herself to save Eddie, because she loves him and will do "terrible, unspeakable things" to herself if it means keeping her friend safe. Conversely, the fact that Eddie has to be tricked for him to leave Sydney, despite the Alchemists shooting at him, because he loves Sydney that much. Family of Choice indeed.
- Trey and Angeline deciding that they'll hunt Strigoi together on their own terms, instead of letting the doctrines of people like the Warriors get in their way.
- Ms Terwilliger allowing Sydney their private study period off so that she can visit Adrian without Zoe becoming suspicious.
- Despite everything that goes down, it's still nice that Zoe genuinely wants to spend time with Sydney for most of the novel.
- Rose and Adrian burying the hatchet after what went down in Last Sacrifice.
Silver Shadows
- Dimitri attempting to help Adrian while he's going through his rough patch, by reminding him that he has people who care about him and that he is stronger and better than he thinks he is. Turns into a tearjerker when Adrian assumes Dimitri is being judgemental and storms out on him.
- Adrian and Sydney getting married in Silver Shadows is already nice, but not long afterward Lissa decides to grant Sydney full protection from the Alchemists at Court, running the huge risk of war in the process.
- Though, she only grants Sydney that protection because (1) Adrian's her friend, (2) Adrian and Sydney are in love and newly married, and (3) Adrian makes it clear that she would have to cast him out too if she hands Sydney over to the Alchemists.
- Carly will do whatever it takes to protect her sister. After what Sydney put herself through on Carly's behalf, it's wonderful to see that it's entirely reciprocated, and that there's one relationship in the Sage family that Jared never managed to ruin.
- Adrian comforting Sydney after her rescue.
- Rose wants to help Adrian find Sydney, and has to be overruled by Lissa, the queen, to prevent her from taking a more active role.
The Ruby Circle
- Jill's reunion with Adrian, Sydney and Eddie.
- Dimitri helping Adrian against his uncle who's also Dimitri’s deadbeat father .
- Everything about the epilogue, from Sydney finally working in an antiquities museum and studying at college, to Rose and Dimitri's engagement.
- Zoe seeing Sydney outside of Court, and letting her go.
