"Sprig?! You're... alive! Oh, thank goodness!"
Handy Anne
  • Anne is worried about the Plantars risking everything for her in making sure she gets home safe and sound. In the end, she admits how she feels. Hop Pop says they're not traveling for her; they're traveling with her. They're all in this together.

Truck Stop Polly

  • Anne tries offering to read to Polly, showing she had taken notice of her earlier, despite her frustration.
  • Hop Pop, Sprig, and Anne are all very freaked out when they find out they accidentally left Polly behind. Even after everything with the Roc, Hop Pop is still most angry that Polly's trick could have resulted in her being hurt and lost (showing they're more concerned about her safety than any giant carnivore bird).
    • And once given the reason as to why she ran away (she overheard them talking and heard a sleep-deprived Hop Pop comment about leaving her behind), all three apologize that they haven't been spending time with her and help her cope with homesickness.
  • The local tough guys are actually very considerate and understanding. Swampy Joe even drives Polly out after her family and gives the Plantars a lift once they're reunited.
    • They also provide Polly with some genuinely good advice, explaining that when you spend all your life on the road, it's not much else to do but reflect on your failings and try to improve yourself. One of them apparently just got her PhD.

A Caravan Named Desire

  • Hop Pop finally catches a break and gets to live his dream of being a beloved actor.
  • Hop Pop is half-convinced to help the troupe with their robbery, while Sprig is trying desperately to get in with the method actors. When they go to Anne, she tells Hop Pop not to go along with the troupe and Sprig that he doesn't need the method actors' approval if they won't respect him. Considering Anne was susceptible to Toxic Friend Influence, it's apparent that with her character development she finally Grew a Spine.
  • It is part of a gag, but it's still extremely sweet that Polly would burst in just to remind Anne she loves her.

Toadcatcher

  • Grime trying to send Sasha away so that he would be General Yunan's only victim.
    • Sasha protecting Grime from General Yunan instead, declaring Grime to be her friend.
    • What makes this especially heartwarming is that past Sasha would probably have just left Grime there, and past Grime would not care to lecture Sasha about addressing her feelings. Now, they know how it feels to be alone, without something they were working for, and it says a lot about the characterization they've received.

Wax Museum

  • While Hop Pop himself has acknowledged how strange humans are, it is clear he now feels very uncomfortable when he sees Anne being treated as different.
  • Sprig getting Anne the Skipman she was trying to obtain from the curator.

Marcy at the Gates

  • Anne still cares about and wants to help Sasha.
  • Anne’s utter joy from being reunited with Marcy, a feeling Marcy more than reciprocates, especially considering that Anne is still clearly devastated over how her encounter with Sasha went.
  • Marcy meeting the Plantars is adorable, especially Marcy validating farm culture for Hop Pop and telling Polly she'll get her legs in two months.
  • Marcy being surrounded by butterflies is a very cute moment.
  • While Anne tearfully admitting to Marcy that she didn’t want to lose her again counts as a Tear Jerker, both Marcy’s responding smile and her line afterwards are both very touching moments.
Marcy: (while holding Anne’s hands) You won’t. I promise.
Scavenger Hunt
  • Marcy assures Anne that she doesn't have to envy her smarts, because Anne has her own special talent for making friends with people, and points out how all the friends Anne made just that day ended up helping solve the King's clues and saving them from a Sewer Gator.
Marcy: Yeah, sure, I'm good at solving puzzles and calculating the check, but you're amazing at making connections. (blushes) And me? I have trouble looking at people in the eye sometimes.
Anne: (walks up to Marcy) Thanks, Marcy. Maybe that’s why we make such a good team. Come here, you.
(They embrace each other into a hug)
    Marcy: Awww.
    • Anne's friendships with the random people around Newtopia deserve mentioning. She helps save a child's cat, genuinely listens and sympathizes with Doris' family troubles (rather than being annoyed with an old lady's yammering like she might have last season), and encourages Gertie to feel confident in her food truck business. Her time in Amphibia has helped her natural kindness and charisma flourish in ways she hasn't even realized.
Doris: Don't forget my offer to set you up with one of my sons!
Anne: (grinning good-naturedly) Doris, stop it!

The Plantars Check In

  • Though it's unclear if he has an ulterior motive or not, King Andrias is welcoming of the Plantars and agrees to help find a way home for Anne and Marcy.
  • Sprig standing up for Bella and stopping her from being fired from her job.

Lost in Newtopia

  • Hop Pop referring to Anne as his adopted granddaughter.
  • The relationship between Polly and Anne has come a long way from season 1, with the girls coming up with (admittedly terrible) team names like P-Anne and Annolly, and generally having the time of their lives together.

Sprig Gets Schooled

  • Even though Newtopia University looks like some kind of prison, it's not for preventing anyone to leave, but to protect students. For once, there is nothing shady about a weekly location the heroes visit. It's a nice change of pace.
  • Despite all his struggles and all the mayhem he causes during the episode, Headmaster Herringbone refuses to give up on Sprig, first by telling him he will start this semester and then when Sprig turns down the offer, rather than being offended, Herringbone states that the offer still stands and he can come whenever he feels ready.

Hopping Mall

  • The way Anne talks about her mom is very noteworthy. Despite her own issues, she's someone who's always cared for her and wants the best from her. This adds an extra layer to why she wants to get a gift for her.
  • It's crossed with funny, but Hop Pop trying out the chair with Rumble Bugs in it causes almost the exact same reaction in him that Anne had during a flashback of her trying out a massage chair back on Earth, bordering on Shared Family Quirks.
  • The relationship that Priscilla and her daughter Pearl have is actually very sweet. They clearly care for each other, and will do anything to look out for each other. Most notably, Priscilla's tail is injured, and Pearl keeps telling her to be careful.
  • When Anne wins the Smash and Mash and the teapot, she gives it to Priscilla upon finding out it was made by her mother. In return, Pearl gives her a butterfly pendant to give to her mother.
  • The entire final scene, where Sprig asks Anne about her mom (see the first moment above), then admits that his own mother passed away when he and Polly were very young, and he doesn't really remember anything about her. Anne interrupts his musings by wordlessly pulling him into a hug, and Sprig starts tearing up as he grips her arm in a return hug, no more words needing to be said as the two friends comfort each other.
    • This scene in general really shows how far Anne and Sprig's friendship has evolved since the first season.
Sprig: Y'know, I've always wondered... can you miss someone you never actually knew? Heh, that's silly. I mean, of course you can't— (Sprig gets pulled into a hug by Anne. He glances at her before tearing up as he hugs her back by gripping her arm.)

The Sleepover to End All Sleepovers

  • Throughout the episode, Anne and Marcy bond together like actual friends, even coming close to a sisterly bond.

A Day at the Aquarium

  • Anne is overjoyed to be able to come back to Wartwood with the Plantars — and in return, so are they. It's made absolutely clear they are family.

The Shut-In!

  • In Anne's story, virtually every one of the characters is a representation of someone she's met in Amphibia. While it showcases how much she cares for all these people, there's some overlap with Tear Jerker in that she doesn't reference any friends from Earth. Even Marcy appears only briefly.
  • The fact that Anne has a calendar alert reminding her of Wally's birthday.
  • Sprig's story has Ivy being very insecure about her wild mass of hair, but Sprig thinks it's perfectly fine, and doesn't press the issue when she says she still prefers to cover it. It's easy to imagine him putting a detail from his real life into the story.

Night Drivers

  • The "Creepy Hitchhiker" turning out to be the benevolent ghost of one Zechariah Nettles. Saving Sprig and Polly's lives several times throughout the night and safely guiding them back to Wartwood.

Return to Wartwood

  • A minor moment, but Polly is shown hiding in Anne's (floofed up due to humidity) hair, which Anne has no objection to. Later, when Polly uses puppydog eyes to avoid getting blamed, Anne falls for it completely.
  • The townspeople are delighted that the Plantars have returned, even without giving them the gifts they promised. While it was largely due to them making their mundane lives exciting due to their misadventures, they nevertheless welcome them back with open arms.
  • Anne, showing her Character Development, objects to the plan to lie to the townsfolk, since she knows lying always makes things worse. She relents at the Plantars' insistence though, showing that she's willing to put aside her principles to help her family.
  • It also shows how much Anne has become an integral part to the town that at one time feared her. They even include her with one of their formation offensives.
  • When Sprig apologizes to Ivy for forgetting to get a red sunshell Ivy says it's just a shell, asks him out on a date and kisses him.

Ivy on the Run

  • When Felicia tells Ivy that she was strict with her to prepare her for an adventure, Ivy happily hugs her and calls her the best mom ever.

After the Rain

  • Hop Pop feels terrible for lying to Anne about the music box and admits that it was wrong.
  • Polly and Sprig working together to find the music box so Anne won't leave.
  • It's small, but Mayor Toadstool mentions that the money for the school is missing.
  • The fact that Hop Pop prepared a squishy suit of armor for Anne.
  • Anne and Hop Pop working together to save Polly and Sprig.
  • After Anne finally hears Hop Pop out, she hugs him and says this:
Anne: Hop Pop, I forgive you.
The First Temple
  • Hop Pop getting angry when it becomes clear that Anne believes he doesn't consider her family, at least not to the same extent as Sprig and Polly.
  • Despite her absent-minded behavior while she's in the zone, Marcy shows how much she truly cares about the Plantars and her own best friend's well-being, even noticing how Anne and Hop Pop still have issues regarding the former being too overprotective to the latter and hiding the Calamity Box. This alone pushes Marcy to realize how much pain she inflicted on them, and she willingly throws the game just to rescue them.
    • This episode also shows how caring Marcy is to Anne compared to Sasha since, even though she is a bit neglectful to the things around her, Marcy won't allow anything bad to happen to her best friend.

New Wartwood

  • When an angry mob has gathered to drive out Marcy, they back off the instant Anne tells them it's alright.
  • Mayor Toadstool chooses to take at least some of the blame for the disaster, rather than let Marcy suffer all of it.
  • After Marcy nearly destroys the town, then saves it, the citizens admit that Anne used to do the same when she first arrived, and they have all grown to love her, so the same will probably hold true with Marcy. Marcy asks Anne if it's true, clearly not expecting her friend to have screwed up that much. Anne, for her part, laughs it off with a story about that time she burned the town.

Friend or Frobo?

  • Polly and Frobo very quickly take a shine to each other, with Frobo copying her every move and defending her when he thinks she's hurt. "Polly" ends up being his first word.
  • After Frobo throws Anne and Sprig to the ground, Mayor Toadstool is seen leading the charge to help them.
Mayor Toadstool: Hang in there, kids!
  • Marcy and Hop Pop bonding over their shared love of seeds.

Toad to Redemption

  • Mayor Toadstool's Character Development is on full display here. When Toady tells him that they can either fix Wartwood's potholes or buy a jacuzzi for themselves, Toadstool (without even thinking about it) chooses to pay for the potholes to be repaired, putting the town's needs above his own desires. When offered his dream job as the new leader of Toad Tower, he does everything he can to get out of it, having grown to genuinely like his life in Wartwood.
  • Mrs. Croaker, without hesitation, saves the Plantar stand from what she thinks is a robbery (it was Sprig and Anne staging it).

Maddie & Marcy

  • After spending so much time as the only one interested in the subject, Maddie is overjoyed to hear that Marcy wants to learn about magic from her. The two quickly form a strong mentor/student bond.
  • Maddie's little sisters all adore her, following her around in hopes that she'll play with them like she did before she started studying magic.
  • Maddie's way of calming her sisters down? Juggling them like she did when they were younger.

The Second Temple

  • Even after Valeriana spends the entire trip talking down to Anne and bringing up her past selfish actions, Anne doesn't hesitate to save her when she falls. This act proves to Valeriana that Anne is truly worthy.
  • Anne interrupts the charging of the blue gem because she believes Marcy and the Plantars are in danger, placing their safety above her desire to return home.
  • Marcy holds Polly several times throughout the episode, indicating they genuinely do consider each other good friends.

Bessie & MicroAngelo

  • Bessie and the young snail work together to stop the fire from spreading. Really, anytime Bessie dotes on MicroAngelo is touching.
  • When Anne looks at her own reflection on Frobo's metal body and affirms that she likes herself for who she has become, Frobo smiles in approval.

The Third Temple

  • We finally see the first meeting between the three girls. Anne and Marcy were playing on a swingset when two older kids pushed them off and told them to get lost. In comes Sasha, who keeps tripping over her own feet but still charges at them relentlessly until they get too weirded out and decide to leave. As Sasha is starting to walk away, Anne stops her and asks her if she wants to swing with them before the girls introduce themselves to each other. And the rest is history...
  • For all the baggage and unsolved issues between them, Anne still has complete faith in Sasha's determination. She tells her that it was that side of her that always inspired Anne and Marcy the most, and if there's someone that never gives up, that's Sasha. It's enough to give Sasha the strength needed to defeat the temple's third challenge.
  • Marcy's overjoyed reaction to seeing Sasha again after more than three months. Their hug is what really sells it.
  • Everybody else is shocked at Sasha's weighted gear, but Grime is smiling, despite being squashed flat by the gravity.

The Dinner

  • The three human girls team up to take down the hornets.
  • Anne and Sasha talking it out where the latter acknowledges that Anne is not the same shy girl that needed her to make all her decisions in her place. While her loyalty is questionable, you can tell Sasha genuinely craves Anne and Marcy's friendship.
    • And then they hug it out. Heck, even Sprig is emotional.

Battle of the Bands

  • Anne, Sasha, and Marcy team up to sing a song. Seeing them just jamming out like the teens they are is delightful.
  • "No Big Deal" as a whole counts, but this line finishes the song off beautifully:
Anne: Finally me and it's no big deal.
  • Just how proud Hop Pop and Sprig look while Anne and Marcy are singing on stage.
  • Anne expressing her gratefulness to the town for letting her in, just going to show how much the town has grown on her, when all the frogs are sad that she's leaving.
  • Anne takes one last photo with everyone else before heading off to Newtopia.
  • After a pep talk from Toadie, Sasha decides to join Anne and Marcy on stage and support their song. Anne is ecstatic to see her.
Anne: Sasha, that was so awesome! I'm so psyched you joined us!
Sasha: Me too! Sorry I took so long...
  • Sasha saying that, even if they lost, it was worth it to have all that fun with Anne and Marcy. She may suck at being a friend, but one thing's for sure — she adores her girls.

True Colors

  • After Sasha and Grime launch her coup and Anne declares that Sasha is no longer her friend, Marcy, while shocked, pleads with Anne to reconsider and forgive Sasha.
  • After he and Sasha take over the castle, Grime gives her a second sword that he had made specifically for this day, and Sasha is absolutely ecstatic, claiming she's always wanted to dual-wield.
    • Grime also notices that Sasha is still upset over her fallout with Anne and genuinely tries to help her feel better. He may be a bad guy, but he clearly has a soft spot for Sasha.
  • Sasha's genuinely giddy smile when Anne calls out to her before the fight against Andrias.
    Sasha: I got your back.
    Grime: And I got yours.
  • While they are understandably less than happy, Anne and Sasha don't yell at, insult, or hit Marcy when she reveals that she deliberately stranded them in Amphibia. Anne doesn't even seem to be that angry, just hurt that her best friend had betrayed her trust.
  • Frobo speaking his first full sentence ("Polly, I'll save you"). He also pulls a Heroic Sacrifice, stopping Andrias from crushing his best friend. Doubles as a Tear Jerker when Andrias stomps him callously.
  • Polly finally gets her legs. Hop Pop’s reaction is the same of a proud parent who watches their child finally walking on their own.
  • A minor example, but Sasha uses Polly's name when she urges her to grab the music box. Even if her initial change of heart was false, she at least took the time to learn the youngest Plantar's name.
  • Anne and Sprig's emotional reunion after being saved by Marcy as pictured at the top of this page.
  • Sasha and Grime distract Andrias while Marcy turns on the Calamity Box, with Sasha yelling at them both to get to Earth. What is Anne's reaction when she makes it to the portal? Ordering Marcy to come with them and warning her that Andrias is right behind her. She and the Plantars have a Mass "Oh, Crap!" when Andrias impales Marcy and ends up getting the box, with Anne begging Marcy to not die.
  • Despite being the reason why the three girls are on Amphibia in the first place, due to her own desperation at the thought of getting separated from her friends, Marcy wastes no time setting things right, as she helps the group during the fight against Andrias' robot army, saving Sprig from falling to his death and sending Anne and the Plantars to Earth through a portal, the latter which (seemingly) costs her her life.
